Hi all, I thought I'd chime in here on this one. A banjo player once told me, when I was learning the guitar several years ago, to make as few finger movements as possible when making chord changes. This has been hit on by some of the post above i.e. using 2nd,3rd, and pinky fingers to chord E and Am. This was real good advice for me as a guitar noobie because I was learning from chord charts and books with finger positions in them. I thought these positions were set in stone and that you must finger the strings exactly as it was shown. So, make it easy on yourself and think about these chords and see what works for you,,,,oh yeah and practice, practice smile

Since the Cup will be starting in a couple weeks, I thought I'd start a football thread. Just wondering who everyone will be cheering for during the Fifa World Cup?

Go U.S.A,,although there not looking very good against CZE at the moment (down 2-3 in the 85 min.)

Hi Zurf, this may be a little late since you've already made the trip to get the manual but this link may be of some help. If you look under the "resource" tab there is a Handbook and an online forum for Sonar LE.

Hope it helps...

The bigger question may be: what does not have a relationship with mathematics? I can't think of anything that does not involve math to some degree... measurement, angles, frequency, wavelength, volume, distance, etc...

umm, it's 3:00am here in Tennessee and I can't believe I'm setting here pondering over this question  yikes

Hi Tony, I took a listen and agree with the above critiques. From the limited experience I've had mixing music, it has always been an uphill climb to get several instruments and vocals to "sit" right in a mix,,not impossible but difficult at least for untrained mixologists(new word smile ) like me. Perhaps that's the reason the big studios get the big bucks. Outside of the tempo issues, I think you need only to tweek the volumes a little bit.

Hey wlbaye, that's some good stuff. I love the sound that comes out of those Martin guitars,,,there's not a better sounding axe on the planet IMHO smile

Something I do occasionally is grab the E and mute the A with my thumb, and grab the high E(G note) along with the B(D note) string. It really gives off a nice ring. I don't do it all the time but it's nice for a change of tone every now and then. Oh, I just realized this is the first time I've posted in this section of the chordie forum. Hello everyone!! smile

Just had a listen to "Road to Hell",,,sounds good. Vocals are crispy clear, real nice. smile

MY SONGBOOKS ARE WORKING PERFECTLY.......lol. I thought, since a lot of folks were having trouble with their songbooks, it would be nice(especially to the Mods and Admin) to hear from someone who is NOT having trouble with their songbook. Happy Holidays everyone.

Thanks for sharing Russ, I loved the "background chicks" at the beginning. The Muppets have always been able to deliver smile.

Very good, I loved the head twisting....I wonder what "heavy metal" would do to this bird...lol.

Hi Chordians, I'm not sure how or why I found this youtube clip but I thought some of you might enjoy it, I sure did. It's a cover of the classic "The Good, the bad, and the ugly" by Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain. This is an incredible arrangement of this song, hope you enjoy. smile

This is actually really fun. Here in middle Tennessee I've heard of events where large groups of people get together and they go out and find as many caches that they kind find, sort of a friendly competition. I've not participated in any events but have looked for several caches. I got started when my family would travel all over the state and beyond to our sons football(soccer) games. We'd usually be gone over night and it was a good way to kill a few hours between games instead of sitting around in the hotel room.

I bought several guitar pics to use as an "exchange" in the cache boxes. I've found out, after finding several caches, that guitar pics are used a lot in these boxes. Anyway, I'd recommend trying it if you've got a GPS; if not borrow one and give it try, you will not be dissappointed when you make your first find. There is some sort of gratifying feeling of accomplishment when you find one of these caches. smile

I just heard a great rendition of "You'll Never Walk Alone" sung by 60,000+ fans at the beginning of the football game..Very well done. I bet there were probably a few chordie members in the stands leading the way and keeping everyone in tune. smile

I wonder if all the "SPAMmers" are in Hawaii? tongue

That one was awful, sorry everyone. roll

Hey skullshot, welcome to the forum. I found "Welcome to Goose Creek" on youtube but I didn't hear the lyrics you mentioned above so perhaps it has a different title. Here's the link if you want to check it out to see if this is the correct song.

There are several Goose Creek Symphony tunes on youtube, if this is not the correct song maybe you can search through them and find the one your looking for.

Hope this helps smile

Hi Zurf, If you go to the America concert, you will not be disappointed. I saw them a couple years ago and it was probably one of the best live performances that I've ever heard.

Hi merrickk and welcome to the forum,

I'm not sure anyone just picks up the guitar and automatically has good rhythm. I think it's just a matter of practice, practice, and more practice. When I was learning the guitar I struggled with rhythm, timing, and everything else a beginner deals with. I could hear in my head what I wanted it to sound like but just couldn't get my picking hand to do it. It seemed like all of a sudden it snapped one day and I was able start keeping better and constant rhythm. I think this hurdle is what keeps a lot of folks from learning the guitar or any other instrument,,,,the basics. So I say, keep on beatin on them strings; she'll get there.

Being a bass player might make this process a little easier since she probably has a good feel for keeping a rhythm. Because she is a bassist, I find it hard to believe she is "rhymthically challenged". It probably seems that way because it is something new to her. That's what I think anyway and don't forget to take advantage of the most friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable people in the world right here on the chordie forum. (that last sentence sounded like a commercial,,didn't it lol )

Hi Detman101, I listened to the song and thought the guitar really "sat well" in the song. From your post, I assume the guitar is what your looking for comment on. I've not heard your other recordings that were commented on, so I don't have anything to compare it with. The volume was good and the guitar sounded clear and smooth....good job. If you'd like to get an even better recording, you could record individual tracks so you can control volumes, add fx's, edit parts that you don't like, etc... plus it's easy, cheap, and fun to do. Russell Harding has a tutorial that will guide you through the entire process in the "recording forum" here on chordie, also there are several of us chordians that have messed around with track recording and would be glad to help in any way.

I was wondering if any of the other chordians out there made the trip to Manchester Tennessee this past weekend for the Bonnaroo music festival. With 80,000 + attending I assume that a few of us chordians would have made the trip.
