With all of the posting about what you are playing now and what you are working on I can't help but notice that nobody seems to play any Hank Williams Jr. I was just wondering if there were any fans of Bocephus out there.

I have wanted to play since I was in the 6th grade I just never stuck with it back then, that was probably "for the chicks". I finally decided a few years ago to learn to play and that is for me. I just wanted to be able to entertain family and friends at gatherings with simple country music, you know three chords and the truth. I do hope I can teach a kid how to play one day, I would have stuck with it if I would have had someone to teach me (or YouTube).

When I was letting Zurf know about the deal Guitar Center had on the Martin X series, I accidentally talked myself into getting one. I really like the sound of the thing for the money, I had to get in the $2000 + range before I could really appreciate a difference in sound for the price. I was hooked and brought one home but after hours of play I found it was not that easy to play. While checking out the setup I found there is no truss rod on these things either. I invested in some medium light, the lowest recommended string guage, and went at playing again. Still found it hard to play and that my fretting hand was getting too tired to play. I took it back to day, I realized when buying a Martin I would make no compromise. I will wait until the money to buy a D-28 or D-35 is available before getting my Martin. In the meantime I am very happy with my 30+ year old Yamaha and my el cheapo Alvarez. Perhaps a Yairi will become available at a price I can live with, they seem to be well respected.

1st verse of Country Boy Can Survive, then I tried to remember Dixieland Delight. I'm really trying to play songs without my book so I jump around a lot as I remember and forget songs.

I've only broken strings putting them on, never playing. I do keep fresh stings on though, I usually change them every 3-4 weeks. Like topdown said, fresh strings will make your guitar sou.nd so much better

I have an Ibanez AW 100 for sale. I think it is early to mid 90's with the gold grover tuners. It has a few small dings in it and some buckle rash on the back. Its an A/E but the battery cover is missing so I don't know how the electronics work. If there is any interest email me an offer, I could also send pics.

They always run promotions and sales so when the time is right you should still be able to get one at a great price. BTW, i played one today and as as an owner of several solid top, laminate back and sides guitars you can't beat this guitar for the price. They are not much to look at compared to the famous martins like the d-28 and d-35 but they do sound great, and they meet all of your criteria for a camp guitar.

There is hope my friend. GAS has put 6 acoustics and 1 electric in my house but I finally found what I was looking for! I have however been feeling a little under the weather, I think I caught a case of Martin fever but the budget will not allow for that purchase right now.

Re: greatest classic rock guitar songs (17 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
So how do you define classic? Would it be simply a song that is very popular or would classic be defined by time? When I think of classic I look at music from generations prior to mine. You could ask 100 people and get 100 different answers on this one.

I doubt anyone younger than 35 even knows who Dokken is. I remember the name but I couldn't tell you the name of any songs and I doubt I would recognize them if I heard them, but I did listen to them. I'm sure the ratio of older to younger people is directly related to the era the artist was popular in.

How will you pick someone to pass along b chord amnesty to? I am not inquiring for myself as I have already learned Bm barre and plan to work on B7 next, but I think such amnesty would be coveted by some of the newer members.

I have done a boston butt with Emerils essence seasoning as the rub and cloves of garlic inserted into the meat. You can smoke it for 8-10 hours at 225. It looks like pulled pork when its done but the taste is something different. If you have never done beer can chicken you have to try that, you get crispy skin and super juicy meat and super easy to make. I had some ribs cooked in ginger ale in the oven for 3 hours and finished on the grill with sauce. They were fall off the bone tender but pretty sweet in flavor, I prefer a rub with some spice to it and a vinegar based sauce on ribs.

Thanks for the feedback. I expected to find fans of both but Stihl would be slightly favored. This just supports what I have read for user reviews online.
