seems poems are like busses, don't see one for hours then two turn up together. Ponty by the way is short for Pont-y-pridd
There was a young lady from Ponty
What had something strange in her panty
It felt a bit rough
As it was a hair brush
And it once belonged to her aunty
I know I have a strange sense of humour

This is a limerick which came to me this morning, well the first verse anyway, the rest was hard work especially finding words that rhyme.
Old Cyril last night had a bonk
Which gave him a sore broken conk
The blood was profuse
It flowed just like juice
And his wife just couldn't give a tonk
The doc was no more than a quack
He was short and smelt of chip fat
He said "sit over there
Not there over there
Cos that chair belongs to my cat"
The doc said "you've broken yer hooter"
"I'm sure that you fell off your scooter"
Did the road have a fist?
yes, alright I was....drunk
And my wife has a punch like a booter

Re: Favourite Guitar (3 replies, posted in Guitars and accessories)
I have 2 go to guitars; my Fender Telecaster that I got for my 60th birthday and my Crafter acoustic. They were both bought when they were put in my hands, in different shops at different times, but once they were there I haven't put them down. Love at first sight?

Yes Pedr I saw that video this week, and that's the first time I've heard of that word too. Apparently it means stealing a bit of a song or two to make a new one without having to pay or give credit to the writers. Another con from American sheister lawyers!

I've also heard that top artistes have had to get back to live gigs to make money as records dont do it any more. Not such a bad thing until the artists you grew up loving dont have a voice anymore. Sad but true unfortunately. On YouTube there are some fantastic cover bands that sound almost like the original vocally but spot on instrumentaly.

Grah, all the biggest hits have themes or sound familiar to songs that have gone before, the punters like familiarity which is why a lot of 60s singles sound very similar to the previous single. And of course then as now the more a record sells the more money the record companies make, only it's Spotify or Amazon music and the like that make the big bucks not the writers, or AI...ha, ha, ha!
My son and daughter in law run a chippy, that's a fish and chip take away not a brothel, by the way. I was in there for a long while the other day and they had music from àlexa, after a while I had to ask "how long does this song last?" They replied "there's been around 10 songs since you came in." They all sounded exactly the same to me, and I think I have a good music ear.

yep, came through loud and proud. nice rendition, i expect it's due to the chord progression but there are echo's of "if i were a carpenter" and the reference to "tide is high". did the AI write all the words and suggest the chord sequence? i like it though

Hi Richard. Thanks for the link. The intro saw me drooling over the guitars on show and I very impressed with that pseudo guitar thing, loving the sound etc. At first I wondered why you got rid of it but after watching the vid for a while I understood perfectly. It's not the same as the girl was playing in Petes video but it would take a lot more convincing for me to get one, either one!

No comment apart from; I wouldn't buy one. I got my first guitar at 15, I'm 73 now and still learning and enjoying learning. This all began with drum boxes, who needs a drummer? Now it's who needs a group or orchestra or talent?

Yes Pedr that was special. Beautiful voice. I noticed she had an acoustic guitar also? Now the instrument she was playing....it wouldn't surprise me if it was an Xbox guitar or some such, all she had to do was put her finger on the correct fret and touch the stickee out bit, all very clever and techno. What next a robot shaving razor? Can you imagine the conversation as you're driving to town? "YOU MISSED A BIT UNDER MY CHIN" If anyone gets any ideas, I thought of it first!

Hi Jan. AI doesn't frighten me it just makes me sad that we can now get a machine to do stuff that humans can do perfectly well without mechanical help. It irks me when I hear modern songs with layers upon layers of voices harmonized and in perfect pitch. Listen to the Beach boys or any of those close harmony groups and wonder why? Does music production need help that badly?

Pedr you rant away buddy, there's not much going on here on Chordie at the moment so it's nice to have something intelligent to read first thing in the morning.
I remember the good old days when all our working mens clubs had organ and drum backing. Some of the bigger clubs would put on a variety night, usually Saturday, where you'd have a group to kick off the night, then a solo singer then a comedian then the group would finish the night off. But as you say when the 90s arrived the club scene died off a lot so the first thing to go were the backing musicians and discos were brought in. As you say a lot of solo acts began to use backing tracks or they'd look stupid standing on stage mic in hand singing acapella! I scraped by because I played the guitar. Ah, the days of flare trousers and kipper ties, that's the part I don't miss!

I call them "happy accidents"
As for backing tracks I used them when I was gigging, it began because venues had a disco on first and at the end, so a bloke with a guitar looked and sounded lost. Though I can't see the point at an open Mike night, isn't everyone meant to join in?

Re: Thoughts of You (6 replies, posted in Poems)
Listen my friend, when you hear that voice in your head, as I understood from your words, it's from your soul, it's yours, yes as you write the first line or two they're easy. Then you may dry up. We all do. Then the hard work begins, finding words and lines that fit with what was easy in the first lines. Myself I write down stuff all the time in a scrap book then one day when the muse takes me I try to assemble them into some form of poem or song, which is why my stuff is sometimes messy.

Enjoyed that Pedr. The end chord was a surprise, but I like it.
AI...yeah, as neo says any tool can be used or abused. I think that a lot of people mainly youngsters will use it as a shortcut to making them into "pop stars" and lots of money? Dream on. All these AI gizmos are making the creators a lot of cash and the users lazy as they don't need to learn how to play an instrument or even how to sing or compose. I suppose I'm at fault as I use a synthetic to replicate the sounds of piano or strings, but at least I actually play the thing. Beware humans...skylab is coming...lol

About 50 years ago when I played in a band I sometimes got into arguments with another member, as you do!, being me, I used to pout and wouldn't sing harmony to him until about the 3rd song when the hwyl (joy) would get to me and all would be well. Yes music lifts the spirit.

Pedr. In Roman times if and when the emperor overstepped the mark or just because they got on someone's nerves, the praetorian guards got their knives out, or even other senators " et to Brute" not too sure of the spelling but I can think of a few people's around the world that might benefit from similar action, no names mentioned! Down with the self serving, self advancing fools and warmongering idiots.
This is not really political just a comment and hope that our world can survive longer than these so called world leaders.

So beautiful and shows how much love and respect there was between them both. Bill has been missed over the last few years and I regret now not separating the posts which I named spam. I hope Bill is well physically at least as there's no coming back from dementia. Life is fragile. Cherish it and respect it. As has been said many times; you'll never get out of it alive. Let's hope there's something better on the other side.

You hear a lot about mash-ups lately. I've never thought about a mash up between a guitar and a politician! Politicians (especially Americans) use music to attract younger people but that's just devisiveness. They say never mix politics and religion I guess you've successfully combined the guitar and politics. Unfortunately when you put your guitar away it stops playing, you can't stop a politician talking.

I've just spent a very disturbing half hour banning and moving spam from guitars and accessories advertising brothels all over Asia. There were 30 posts!
All on a day that I found out via my good friend Pete Shutlar that another good friends wife had passed away. I should imagine all longer term members will remember Strummer boy Bill? My sincere condolences to Bill and his wife Dondra's family. RIP Dondra.
