Is it ok to link to youtube or such here?
Then I'll give that a go...
I'd happily buy the songs I posted, but there seems to be no sheetmusic in print for either of them...
*sigh*
Thanks,
Tom
I am not a car guy at all... hevent even got a license... and the only cool car my mom had was a Volkswagen Beetle...
But I know what you mean...
Cheers,
Tom
And hi again...
another of the songs no one ever seemed to have an idea about, so another try here...
And to quote myself (again!)
Any help greatly appreciated, but as I still suck as a player I guess I'll need a bit more than just a "play it in D-minor"... but that is what the chordie-god gave us private messages for, isn't it?
Cheers,
Tom
Hi again...
I still am looking for the chords to this one. The sheetmusic is out of print, it's nowhere on the web, and I suck too much to figure it out myself... and to quote myself from another request:
Any help greatly appreciated, but as I still suck as a player I guess I'll need a bit more than just a "play it in D-minor"... but that is what the chordie-god gave us private messages for, isn't it?
Thanks, if anyone can help me, he or she'd be my hero forever...

Hey there...
I couldn't believe it when I couln't find any chords for this classic...
Any help greatly appreciated, but as I still suck as a player I guess I'll need a bit more than just a "play it in D-minor"... but that is what the chordie-god gave us private messages for, isn't it?
Thanks in advance,
Tom
I do know the thread is old and stale, but this
I have a black 2004 american standard with the grey pearloid pickguard...
made me think of
I got a sixty-nine Chevy with a 396, Fuelie heads and a Hurst on the floor...
And as the tele I would want would have to look like Bruce's I thought I'd share this... *gg*
Besides Robotic Guitarist (which is the one app that impressed my mum *g*) Chordinator is a great chordpro viewer (even though it still has some issues with the autoscroll). Or has anyone found a better tool to display chords?
Well since Walmart decided to bail out of Germany I never got the "chance" to get guitars there... but for those in Europe: Lidl and Aldi doe sell guitars from time to time if you are in need of some firewood...
As for buying from eBay: for me it's always a gamble: If you think the chances of a guitar being shitty are 50:50, then you should only pay half of what it would be worth to you. If you think the chances are better or worse, adjust the price accordingly. As of now I mostly was in luck at eBay, at least with guitars...
And one can't be too careful with brand names on eBay by the way... a friend of mine bought a Strat and we both guess the only Fender part might have been the metal plate that holds the neck... looked not too bad though... but the money came back after a nice letter from a lawyer...
Cheers and keep on rocking (folking, bluesing, funking, whatevering...)
Tom
I have a "Schaller Western I". It sort of clamps in the sound hole and works like a charm. Details can be found at http://schaller-guitarparts.de/hp7727/Western-I.htm The good thing is, you can remove it in no time and it has a really great sound. The only bad things are that the cable comes out of the sound hole too (Duct-Tape helps a lot...) and that it can fall out if you give the poor piece of wood too bad a beating. I have it in my Sigma Western-guitar now and it's great.
Hm... If I had any money to spend, I'd try to spend some more and get a Brian May one... dunno how much they are in the States though... here it's about 600 € I guess.
My body is a guitar accessory? Boy will my GF be mad... she says I spend to much on guitars and accessories... and I spend a lot of money on my body (good food and Guinness cost money...).
Hm... I'll have to think about that some more...
Oh my oh my oh my...
What are you looking for when you say "synth"? The thingie that produces electronic sounds? (yes, drums, vocals, guitar, bass, famously woodwinds (Sledgehammer)). Or a Keyboard?
If it's the keys: Try them. You need to feel how the action is, how big the keys are etc.
If it's basically just for some quick recordings, you might just want to try a midi compatible usb keyboard for the pc and use that as your synth. Then you'll record as midi and will be able to edit and play around to your liking.
If it's for performing and the stage, I'd say go classic! A YAMAHA DX-7 (or better DX-7 II) should be available on ebay really cheap. And that's THE synth that made the 80s sound like they did.
Cheers,
Tom
Uhm... "Teenage Girl" seems a bit broad a term to talk about music... What music does she and her friends like?
There is very little music you can't play even as a beginner. If it seems to tough, look for an easier version. Transpose till it is easy-peasy.
P!nk has a few nice ones, even Lady Gaga works on guitar... but again: the music she needs to play is the music she likes to listen too.
Cheers,
Tom
Hm... it may not be so easy to sue someones pants off if you are only 15...
You might also try to find out if his insurance payed him (just call them and tell them what the problem is). If they payed and he won't pay you they might get pretty pissed at him as well...
as for the guitar: as in countless other posts I can only suggest Stagg guitars, they tend to be really good value for money. What kind of guitar did you have?
Cheers.
T.
Hehe...
first: If your family doesn't like the Beatles, something is wrong with them... (no offense intended... *smile*)
second: If it has a tune you can sing it, if it has chords you can strum it... There are a few bands here in germany that play the charts either as country AND western (they do both kinds of music) or Rock'n'Roll... Weird Al proves that you can play everything as a polka on the accordion...
I like playing stuff as different from the original as possible best...
Cheers,
T.
Hi z...
with "cheap" guitars you basically have two options in my experience: If you want to buy online, you have to buy so cheap that it doesn't matter if it is bad (that goes for buying stuff of individuals) or you have to be prepared to send a lot of guitars back (that goes for buying from companies).
If you buy from a local store. make sure you get the guitar you tried there. If they insist that "oh, that one is just the display, we can't sell that one..." make them get the one they will sell you and try that one. If they are not willing to do this: make a fuzz, say really loud that they are a rippoff and morons and be prepared to never shop there again.
acoustic electric... do you mean an acoustic guitar with a pickup (Ovation style more or less) or an electric guitar with a semi-hollow body? With the later I have no clue at all, sorry...
Acoustics with pickups however I did try a few (though I currently don't own one). Personally I don't like the "Ovation back": Turtle-shaped plastic somehow does not sound like I want it on my guitar. But they can sound really good...
The best experience so far (other than my trusted Sigma with the clip in Martin Pickup) are the ones by Stagg. Here in Germany you get them for around $200 and they are a lot of fun. However: as with most cheaper guitars, I'd expect not every single one to be tiptop and shipshape. So again: try before you buy is propably best.
As to used guitars: The question is always: "Why do/did they sell it" Sometimes the answer is "Because it is crap!".
Anyhow: good hunting!
Cheers,
T.
And another bump...
This one was played by quite a few pub-musicians as well... Really no one knows this one? I suck at figuring out chords and would love to play this...
Cheers,
Tom
Hm... thought I'd bump that one up a bit...
I've heard quite a few ppl playing this in irish pubs, I can't believe no one here knows it... pretty please?
Cheers,
Tom
Hi...
if no one can help me out with "Hallelujah Jordan", maybe someone knows this one...
Cheers,
Tom
Heyho...
I am pretty desperately looking for the chords to that one... I would even buy the sheetmusic, but I can't get it around here (and I dont like buying music witout looking at it first).
Anyone know the chords?
PM or mail welcome...
cheers and thanks,
Tom
Heya,
just got myself a nice Stagg Paula from ebay... got it yesterday, and it's way better then most Epis I had in my hands. got it for around $70, but that was here in Germany.
But for the kind of music you'll want it for, and to compliment the Paula and Strat (my Strat is a Stagg as well), I'd recommend getting a Tele. If you can live with no string-through body, the Squier Affinity Teles are nice and CHEAP.
Plus they are readily available from most stores, so you can try befor you buy (which I find is always a good idea with guitars) unless you want to play the "I buy online, let's see what I get" game... (my win/loss ratio is about 60/40, but I tend to buy cheap off ebay...).
Cheers and have fun with whatever axe you get!

First Stop should propably be
http://www.brianmayguitars.co.uk/
Those are pretty good ones... better and still affordable are the old guild ones. You might find one of those babies used.
If you want the real deal http://www.guytonguitars.com is your choice. It is expensive like hell I recon, but then you'll have a red special that is so close that even brian uses those... they are also the official guitars for the Queen musical...
other manufacturers include: http://rsguitars.com/ and http://www.kzguitarworks.com/englishpages/e_top.html
Please do yourself a favour and don't even think about china-crap that looks like a red special.
Lots and lots of info:
http://www.brianmayworld.com/redspecial.htm
Oh and if you happen to be really rich and want to say thanks for my help: buy me one of those babies... a burns/brianmayguitars one will suffice... *grins*
Cheers, Thistles
"Cheap can be good"... "Everyone learns on a cheapo..." "Yadda-Yadda"...
All true and sound and well and so on...
BUT (and it is a BIG butt):
The key here is the "can" (not one of Tomato Soup though).
I bought a jolly number of very playable cheap guitars off ebay (among them my favourite, a black Stratcopy by Stagg for about 30 Euros). And one of my main "strumming around and trying new stuff" babies is a cheap nylon straight from the supermarket.
I also got a nice looking Paula copy from the 'bay. Friend of mine took it to a luthier he knows who (out of the idea "Everything is playable if propperly set up") tried for hours to turn it into something useful. Well now I have a guitar that bears the lable "worst piece of crap in guitarshape". Can't be done...
As a rule (well mine at least) you could say that the chances of having fun with a cheap piece of wood are bigger if it is a nylon one and smaller if it is steel...
Only thing you can do is try out the thing. And later try something better. But DON'T try any dream guitar... It will leave you longing and longing and longing and spending way too much money on mediocre guitars to try to ease the longing... and then your house will be filles with guitars and your girlfriend will yell at you "can't you take me out to dinner instead of buying ANOTHER guitar, you eejit?"...
Sooo... to cut my first rambling on the forum short: YES YOU CAN! (but only maybe)
If its no fun at all, don't try to sell it, set it on fire!
Cheers,
Thistles
P.S.: A good semiaccoustic for 200 bucks is a tough one... I've seen White Falcon copies on ebay for about that much, but I'd rather try those out before I buy... If it's a accoustic with PUs you want, I can suggest the Stagg ones, those are pretty ok and affordable.
