I am from Philly, Home of the Philadelphia Eagles !!!!

Obviously, Philadelphia, Pa, USA

I started learning from an older friend ( I was around 10 or 11 ) but he did not know many chords, and I never took lessons, and just played the same things off and on for years... Finally bought a Brand Name in 2006( Xmas present ) Not a very expensive guitar, but a nice one just the same.. An Ibanez , sounds nice..I made sure it was an acoustic/electric and bought an effects box and an acoustic amp.. My childhood coming back to me. <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_twisted.gif" border=0 alt="Twisted Evil"> . Anyway, I just started back late last year, and loving it.. Love this site Too..I am 47 and really learned allot in the last few months. Sorry for the Autobiography  <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_biggrin.gif" border=0 alt="Very Happy">

I forgot to mention :

1 and 2 Wonderwall and Half the world away played with Capo at 2nd fret..go on You Tube and play with Oasis playing, and you will see how close it is..

# 3 " A Long December" is much easier to play in C.. If you find the song that starts with Bb, scroll down, and they transcribe in C also..Very easy to play and sounds pretty close..( or at least that is the Chord it starts with )

# 10 , All the young dudes. find the one that starts in D, then Dmaj7, BM, D, A Asus7 A ETC.

I am not sure how to direct anyone to the song. I do have them in a few of my songbooks..

And While I am at it... What it takes by Aerosmith starting in D is much easier to sing and play ( for me ) It was going to be on my top 10 or 11 ...

Cage, A few things about Bar ( Barre ) cords..

I would practice them. It will only make you a more rounded player, it gives your hands muscle memory for many other chords down the road in playing. your hand will get stronger and you will see it is easier .

Also, many "beginner" guitars are not set up well, the action is too high, and it is very hard to make a good Barre Cord , especially near the nut ( at the "F" cord area ). So go to the local guitar store and try a few different brands and shapes and sizes, and see if the Barre is any easier... Also, try and play one string at a time to make sure you are getting a clean sound on each string. That seems to be the main problem, one or two get muffled..

I just had a minor adjustment, and my first fret Barre cording ( the "F" "B" chords ) are not easy like they were before my adjustment, so it needs to go back for a little tweaking..

That being said, Lindsy Buckingham from Fleetwood Mac wrote he still can't do Barre Cords.. And I am not good at them either, but I can still play tunes I enjoy with open chords.

So don't worry if you decide not to pursue the infamous Barre Chord because it is tough, you will always have those great standard Open chords we all learned and still play  <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_smile.gif" border=0 alt="Smile">

I just happen to buy Elixir strings today, and after reading this post, I looked on the package, and my box reads " Product by W L Gore " in Elkton Md. Most likely, the string Mfg's have thier own strings, and have them coated using WL Gore's product. My box does not reference Martin or any other name, but that does not mean that they do not use them, just does not say who's strings are being used.

I assume you are young with your firm stubborn stance on your inflexible opinions, ( Wait a second, sounds like me ) .. But seriously, if you read Oubaas reply to you, he was just giving his opinion to you, just happened to disagree with certain things , based on his experiences... just like you gave your thoughts, based on your experiences..  Now, I bought Elixir because I just like the way they feel and sound, but I also like and plan on buying a non coated brand, maybe D' Addarios for my next string change, which will be between 3 weeks and 3 years  <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_biggrin.gif" border=0 alt="Very Happy">

As always James, you are a wealth of information.

I am not into the pre rock era, but I like Sinatra and a few other artists, and this is actually a really cool site.

Thanks,

Just so happens at the time of my reading this post, ( 2/16/07 at 7:14 AM eastern Standard Time ( Philly , PA ) in the upper right hand corner shows " 5 Popular Songs" and "Turn the Page" is the first one listed, but the spelling is wrong, it reads " Bob Seeger" .

I bought an Ibanez PF Series, it was a SAM ASH spec Which combined the PF cut away electric acoustic Jumbo, and built in Fishman Electronics and tuner for under 300.00 dollars . It is really a nice guitar and sounds great.

The only thing I would say is to play different guitars in a shop if you can.

I was always used to a wider neck with a little wider frets, and this guitar has a slimmer neck, which I do not like the feel. So, along with the sound, make sure the guitar sits comfortably against your leg, and the neck width and shape is comfortable when you make common open chords like c , f, etc.

I always thought Acoustics had basically the same dimensions, but I was wrong, so I really fell for the sound, but for me, this is not as comfortable as my previous guitars.

Thanks,

Jerry

<font size="4"><b><font color="darkblue">This was answered by James , but in case you did not see it, because other people did not address his question until 4 or 5 answers down the tree.

The songbooks have a maximum of 100 songs. You can create another songbook and start adding to that.

You will see the word "REMOVE" when you reach maximum, or have that song already in your songbook. </font></b></font>

If you click on some of the topics, within the responses, etc. you will see Advertising Ring tones and Porn Pics, etc. It's not Jamorama's fault, because this forum is open to anyone, but that was my point regarding the open editing approach, to many people out there with this type of mentality.

Thanks for the response !

I understand it is a nice feature to correct the songs, but you should not allow anyone to effect the original..

The problem with this is that there are certain people that will really screw up good songs , purposely or by accident.

Has anyone been on the Jamorama Forum ? It is being inodated with Non Musicians and they are putting Porn sites and Advertising ring tones, and all kinds of nonsense.

Lets keep the suggestion box open, but not allow the changing of songs .... Please reconsider this open policy..

Thanks
