Hi tflann,

Not one of the experts but I do know it just takes some time and practice to make those chords sound good. It helps to have a supportive wife too. Sounds like you are heading in the right direction on both counts.

I played a friends guitar today and noticed something odd I think. The third fret is unmarked which I had seen before but the seventh fret had two dots just like the twelth fret. I can't recall ever having seen this before. Does this indicate something? The guitar is a Maderi distributed by Guild. At least I hope I rememebered that name right.

Thanks,

You didn't say how old you are and it doesn't really matter, age is just a state of mind. I am 53 and have been a beginner at the guitar since about 14. Starting and stopping. 12-14 hour work days, wife and kids. You know the drill. My biggest obstacle has been a total lack of musical ability. Well, anyway I have learned more in the last two years than I have all my life. Finally figured out the barre chord mystery etc. Most of what I learned is due to a good friend who is a first class musician and this site. If there is information about guitar playing you can't find on chordie or from its members I can't imagine what it would be. I envy you being retired and having more time to play. I hope someday in the not too distant future to be able to do so as well. The most important thing is HAVE FUN!

Was once playing around with the Windows sound recorder on my computer, I played Elvis' Promised Land backwards and told some folks you could hear him say, "Not buried in Graceland" , they believed me and told others, after I heard it a ferw times I started to believe it myself.

Thanks all:

I think James may have hit the nail on the head, I do have about 100 songs in my book. Maybe that's why I see that message.

Guess it may be time to delete some of them. Or maybe to start a second book, sure do enjoy Chordie. Lots of fun. I'm a non musician myself or maybe I should say a wanabe musician and it sure is neat to see how the songs are played and it's also great to read wht the real musicians have to say about everything.

Thanks, Randall

What's best? Installing a strap pin on the end of the guitar body near the neck or just looping something around the head near the nut. Either way it seems like I might damage my guitar.

I wish the pin had came installed, I sure don't like the thought of puting a screw into my guitar but I also shudder at the thought of wrapping a shoelace or something similar around the head.

Thanks, Randall

Still can't figure this one out..I've added many songs to my personal songbook in the past but can't do it anymore. Whenever I look at a song and scroll down the right side I see the name of the songbook the song is from (even if I found the song by searching) and at the top My Songbook is highlighted as though I am looking in my songbook. And down on the right side where it used to say ADD it now says REMOVE. I double checked and these are not songs I already added, so I can't figure it out.

Thanks Randall

For some reason when I view a song there isn't an option to add it to my songboog. Am I doing something wrong? Where the option used to be is the word REMOVE as though I was already in my songbook, instead of just having looked the song up.

Thanks for any help.
