In that price range . . . I think you get the most bang for your buck with the Mexican Made Strat or Tele. There are some Epiphone LPs in that range also, but I prefer the Fender sound, and think it is a better built instrument.
You wrote: "They are wanting $12800" . . . Do you have your decimal in the right place? I would think $1,280.00 would be a good deal . . . it see it for $1,499.00 in several places online.

I have trouble sometimes getting all the strings down for a clean sound with my barre (index) finger . . . especially on the acoustic because the strings are heavier than an electric. Lighter guage strings will help but you may have to do some truss rod adjustment and might loose some volume. Also . . . try rolling your barre finger a little on it's side . . . this works for me to get a better barre.
I read somewhere that . . . you should turn volume and tone pots all the way up and set the pickup switch to the neck pickup . . . don't remember where I read it though.

Royce we are obviously on the same wavelength as I am 61 going on 16
Roger . . . not quite . . . my 39-19 means 58 . . . doing it your way I'd probably be 58-16

Your original post was on 24 Sep . . . it's been over 3 weeks . . . did you have the "test" yet? What did you go with? How did it go? Inquiring minds wanna know . . . .

"Kansas City" is basically a 12-bar blues arrangement. You can put it in any key you want . . . using a 12 bar blues progression.
I think this is the version I play -> http://www.chordie.com/chord.pere/www.r … y-crd.html . . . use the chordie tool to transpose it +6 semitones and you'll have it in E.
The little tab in my previous post is a good turnaround between verses for this song and also other 12-bar blues songs in E . . . where it feels right . . . and yes, I'd say the turnaround is in the key of E also.
I went thru that phase also where all the songs sounded alike because I was stuck in a strumming rut. I taught my self to finger pick, and usually intersperse finger picking and strumming when playing blues.
Try playing some 12 blues songs and do a little finger pick'in. Here is a really good little turnaround for blues in the key of E (songs like "Kansas City" and a whole bunch of others).

B---------4----------3-----------2------0-------
G---4----------3-----------2------------1-------

Not exactly "plain" english . . . . but there is a lot of info here:

I'm pretty sure that on a nylon strung guitar . . . The bottom strings (E A D) are usually nylon-strands wrapped in bronze . . . vs steel wrapped in bronze.
That's a 1 - 4 - 5 progression (blues). Any song that is in a 12-bar blues type progression could be transposed into this key.
For example . . . "Crossroads" and "Johnny Be Good" are both 12 bar blues songs that could be transposed to D - G - and A7.
Yea . . . the sus gets me confused sometimes . . . especially on some songs where it just says Xsus and doesn't tell you if its sus2 or sus4.
A - x002220
Asus2 - x002200
Asus4 - x002230
I didn't mean to say I was "sliding" (I should have said "moving" or "changing to") from an Asus 4 (which is X02230) . . . But rather putting my finger down from an X02200 to a X02220. Point is: "for me" it sounds better that way than just sticking with the Asus2 for the whole bar.
The Asus sounds a little discordant to me also, but it kinda is supposed to . . . so . . . I like to start the phrase with the discordant Asus then slide it into an A. It sounds better that way to me.
The springs in the back of the bridge should be tightened down. Remove the plastic cover in the back to do this. A lot of folks fon't really don't care for the tremelo anyway . . . so they just put a piece of wood in the back to prevent the tremelo bridge from moving . . .
The Doors . . . . "Roadhouse Blues"
All the one's I've seen had to be firmly pressed or carefully tapped in . . . for a snug fit . . . .

Why not just add that information to the profiles? If you want to know about someone, just click their profile. I think a thread would get cumbersome. I'm not against it, I just doubt that I'd ever refer to it. It seems like profiles would be an easier and more direct way to share and reach that information about a particular person.

I Agree . . . Makes a whole lot of sense and should be relatively easy to do . . .
It would help if we knew more about the band . . . . like:
Where is it located?
Original stuff? or mostly "covers"? Band's favorite songs?
Make up of the band?
Venues you expect to play?
Etc?
I've several combo amps including a Peavey Delta Blues tube amp which is real sweet . . . But . . . the one I use the most because of it's versitility is my Line 6 spider 2x10. If I could have only one to use for everything . . . this is the one I'd choose. I'm very impressed with it. Try one out in your local guitar shop.

I own 3 tele's and a G&L ASAT Bluesboy. Lots of folks like the "chunky" neck, myself included.
One of my teles is a very nice Korean made with two humbuckers that are coil tapped. It also has a set neck, so it's really more a "Tele-Paul". It has a much thinner neck and a little flatter fretboard. You should try one and see if that's the neck for you.
Also . . . I believe you can special order G&L ASAT's with different neck profiles, I'm not sure about the tele's unless you go with a custom shop special order.
