Sorry Jody
if i put you on the spot. It wasnt intentional. I emailed a cousin of mine in the states who has lived there many many years. I asked them the same question. They sent me 2 links. I must admit to near busting myself laughing at the first link. After the second link i feel i got my answer. Have a great evening.

lol Jody,

Funny song sir.

May i ask this question ? Are hill billies and redneck cowboys the same thing ? Theres a distinction here also
with Townies and Rural folk by some. My roots are originally rural folk, maybe a reason  for me liking the country
folk and there ways. .

No offence meant now in anyway to folk anywhere ,People are people to me.

What a great idea All1 songs.

I was reminded of a band id long forgotton. The Marshall Tucker band and this great song.

Sure the artistic covers on the vinyls were as good a talking piece as the music content.

Thanks for the memories sir.

This song i just so lovely to listen to Phil.

The love and loss of your Mam is melodic both in your voice, music and lyrics.
She'd be very proud to know you knew the true  honesty of her spirit. A rare and precious gift to a child.

Lovely work Sir,

My heartfelt sympathy to all concerned.

I read this piece at my friends funeral. I believe "Henry Van Dyke" wrote this piece wirh such a great insight into life and death
May you and yours take great consolation from same.

Quote- Henry Van Dyke"

“I am standing upon the seashore.
A ship at my side spreads her white
sails to the morning breeze and starts
for the blue ocean.

She is an object of beauty and strength.
I stand and watch her until at length
she hangs like a speck of white cloud
just where the sea and sky come
to mingle with each other.

Then, someone at my side says;
"There, she is gone!"

"Gone where?"
Gone from my sight. That is all.
She is just as large in mast and hull
and spar as she was when she left my side
and she is just as able to bear her
load of living freight to her destined port.
Her diminished size is in me, not in her.

And just at the moment when someone
at my side says, "There, she is gone!"
There are other eyes watching her coming,
and other voices ready to take up the glad
shout;
"Here she comes!"
And that is dying.

Hi Strans ,

Short and soooo packs a punch.
I learned many years ago to listen but try not judge. BUT, when you hear the same stuff over and over
it becomes a chore. I then learned to say " Ok!  Can i help here ? if not, what are you gonna do about this situation ?  after the 3rd time of hearing the same old story.
Next time you call, tell me your solution to this mess. Sounds a wee bit cruel. But it works.

Good piece.

Ah how great is this Jody ?

When i wrote this many years ago,  i was at a ball. I had seen this man that appealed to me there.[which rarely happened with me]
The lyrics was how i felt in his company. There was a chemistry between us. He was married as i at that time.
Anyways suffice to say, we both went our own ways.
I love your reply sir, its a culmination of good times and the  choices we make.

Thank You" for taking the time to do so. Its very much appreciated  by me.
I wish i knew how to send you the recording i have DUH ! Ill ask my son, he should know !
Id like you to hear this song now.

Violet Gibson was Irish, the daughter of a baron. She shot Mussolini in 1926. She was then locked up for the rest of her life in a mental institution in England.  i was inspired to write this piece after i read about her life...
Did you have tea with Mussolini?         Helena Donovan

Were you just a silly crackpot?
Or the perfect mystery
The daughter of a baron
Used to high society.

Did he silence all your claims?
When for Tripoli he left
  Sent you back to England
Declared you insane, inept.

Did you have tea with Mussolini?
Make love inside his bed?
Was your crime one of passion?
A searing rage inside your head

  Did you tell him!
Keep your Seven Hills of Rome,
You’re Piazza Navona
Your power is being a fascist
You’re the lunatic in Roma!

Violet,
Were you happy?
To spend your days sublime
Entertaining feathered friends
No pizza or red wine

Were,
The seeds inside your pockets
So carefully sewed, silken lined
To feed on your Dictator,
El Duce, The banquet of your mind ?.
