Not a real garden, but I do plant some tomatoes in those upside down planters and a self watering planter that both work real well. Nothing beats a home grown tomato or my fresh salsa. I can't wait.

I'd recommend going the local drug/hardware/grocery store, buy some two-sided tape and stick your spare picks on the tape. As tubatooter suggested, stick said tape on your mic stand( if you sing, if not stick the tape on the side of your amp, or body of your guitar{eeekkk!!!!}, and keep some wax paper to cover the tape when your gig/playin' session is over) This'll cost  you 3 or 4 dollars. The same product at the local music store , with fancy packaging, with run you 12-15 buck-a-roonies...

I do! And I harvest mainly herbs. ( Sweet Basil, Garlic Chives, Green Onions, Parsley, Cilantro) I do have a few pepper plants , a beautiful papaya tree and a juvenile orange tree( no oranges yet, maybe this summer?!!). I love to attempt to make chutney sauces( sweet & sour, papaya- green onion-pepper- cilantro-olive oil, sea salt- fresh cracked pepper, yummy!), to go along with great fish such as grouper, cobia, spanish mackerel, and red fish  the gulf of mexico has to offer. Also, I have 10 or so pineapple plants in the ground. I've had this one specific plant for over 12 years and this past week, much to my surprise, it's bearing fruit for the very first time!!! It's an agricultural miracle! Think I'll try to get some tomatoes goin this year.

Dang!, you guys have great movie theatre prices out there in Oregon. I took my daughter  to the movies last weekend and paid $9.75 for my ticket , $8.75 for hers, $5.50 for a cup of watered down Mr Pibb( the 2 straws were free though!) and $7.00 for a tub of rubbery popcorn...  I really miss the dollar theatre.........

My apologies to my friend Toney and everyone else for contributing to the degradation of this thread into a political discussion. I will endeavor to stay above this type of behavior and leave it to the politicians play in the gutter as they are so accustomed.

No apology needed Jeff(my buddy ole-pal!), we're just gettin' out what is within', in a respectful and civil manner. We can have our differences of opinions without disliking and/or bashing each other. This is what revolves our wonderous universe................

It's a shame you folks let your political affiliations deprive you from enjoying and appreciating one of the most brilliant actors in cinematic history( Sean Penn). I despise  most everything Edwin McCain, Toby Keith, and Hank Williams Jr. stand for politically but I won't let their political opinions deprive me from enjoying their music. They're wonderful musicians and I appreciate them for that.  But that's just me, and to each their own.

To transitionalize back to great Sean Penn;  From the stoner anthem, "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" where Penn plays the unforgettable and often imitated stoner, surfer dude, Jeff Spicoli to the emotionally intense "The Falcon and The Snowman", or "At Close Range" with the maginificent Christopher Walken, followed by the bone chilling dramatic masterpiece "Dead Man Walking" with Susan Sarandon ( I used to lifeguard on Clearwater Beach with her brother Terry Tomalin, current outdoor sports editor for the St Pete Times), and who can ever forget the wonderful role Penn played in Woody Allen's "Sweet and Lowdown", definitely Django inspired, and next comes along a masterpiece title "I Am Sam"( every bit as good as Rain Man, Awakenings, and Forrest Gump, in my humble and politically unbiased opinion), and then there comes Clint Eastwood's "Mystic River" and the very controversial "Milk", both of which Penn earned the ultimate acting award in the siver screen business. ( Can you tell I'm a Penn fan?)

Finally, in wonderous conclusion to many of  you reading this post with intensely scrunched eyebrows, I sincerely hope Bill O'Reilly does't take a notion to bash Chordie, I'd miss you all and your contributions. (haha)

The way I see it is this; as long as you use plenty of hand sanitizer and/or wash your hands with warm, soapy water, viruses are much less likely to get inside of your computer, right?

Me personally, I have since birth and will 'till me death be an avid supporter of Virginia Tech( Blacksburg, Virginia, USA) athletics and acedemics.  My beloved Hokies lost in the 2nd round of the NIT tournament. I'm not quite sure what this tournament determines but I've read that the winner is declared the 66th best college basketball team in the USA. My wife however is a Purdue alumni and if one of our teams is out and the other is in we stand firmly together in rooting for the last standing team. I think Purdue is still in the running to win the college basketball super bowl so I'm rooting for Purdue. Go Boilermakers!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Old Doll,
Just wondering out loud if the addition of the poetry section detered some from submitting songs who used to do so, that's all, nothing more nothing less. Not a knock on the poets or the songwriters, just some fodder for discussion.

Greetings all,

I've noticed a huge decline lately in songs submitted to this section(songwriting) since Chordie added the " poetry" section. Like it not, agree or disagree, there is a huge difference between songs and poems. It's kinda like categorizing DJs in the in the same fold as musicians. And any of you folks who play guitar for an hour vs. mashing the play button on the CD/IPOD/album/cassette and/or 8track, or whatever know exactly where I'm coming from.  Any guitar player can do a DJ's job but very few(if any, haha) DJ's can do a guitar players job, ya know what I'm sayin' ?

One can argue 'till they're blue in the face but poetry is poetry, and it has its place. But songwriting is songwriting and a song consists of a poetic story and melodic accompaniment( unless instrumentals are slated in said  discussion).

I'm thinking that songwriters are gonna be more likely to submit their songs where the totality of the song( ie lyrics and chords)are exclusive to the creation of their song. I personally think the addition of poems has soured some/many songwriters and their outlook on the intent of the forum. Call me pig headed or unwilling to open my mind to something different but there are 100's of poetry exclusive sites out there in cyber land that one can express their inner words.

Subsequently, many of the previous contributors here on Chordie have gone elsewhere. ( fo' real)This is not a slam on the fine folks who run the poetry forum, I'm sure they're doing the best they can at what they do but I personally miss some of the previous songwriters who have chosen to take their tremendous talents elsewhere........

Any thoughts............

Add this to your viewing collection and disect it frame by frame. It's quite basic structurally, but Mike Campbells' technique and skill comes from 30+years of professional giggin'. Be patient and stick with it....
