I have started redesigning the public songbooks. I have gotten several good ideas from the users, and I think the new version will be really amazing..<img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_smile.gif" border=0 alt="Smile">
I do however need some help from you. The new books will be divided into categories/genres. Please help me in deciding what these categories should be.
Here is the first draft:
* Absolute beginner
* Blues
* Campfire songs
* Country&Western
* Easy songs
* Goldies
* Holiday collections
* Mandolin collections
* Misc songs
* Oldies
* Praise&Worship
* Rock
* Uke collections
If you read <a href="htp://www.chordie.com/faq.php" target="_blank">htp://www.chordie.com/faq.php</a> you will see that Chordie does not really host any songs. It just index songs on remote servers.
There are legal reasons for this.
You can use the method described by Mina to point Chordie to a remote location where it can index songs. Unfortunately it will take a few days (weeks?) befere this song is included. I will improve this in the future.
Please use the voting-feature on each song to report this. It will add the song to my todo-list.
It is actually a known problem, but does not happen very often. I have not been able to reproduce it, but know it is related to requesting a new password and that mail being stopped for some reason.
You might actually try to create a new account with the same name, and that usually solves the problem.
I will try fixing this bug very soon.
I am very sorry to hear that. Unfortunately I have no Mac, and is unable to debug this. I really do not have any idea what is causing this.
To get me started. Does it happen on all pages? Only chord-pages. Does it happen to text-only chord-pages (tablature). Does it happen if you store the page locally, and then open it?

I am in Troronto right now(and for about a week), and would really like to know if there are any Chordie-users that are familiar with the city. Any conserts? Any great bands to listen to?

Are you experiencing freezes, or layout problems?
The default songbook always exists. Technical reasons for that...
Absolutely correct. There will be a major overhaul of the public songbooks - including the rating system. I am however going away for a couple of weeks, but when I am back, this is top priority.
Until then -- keep suggesting features, I still have not figured out exactly how it should work.
Lots of changes to the artist page lately. I have updated the wiki text, added images to a lot of artists, improved the layout etc...
Today I have added some ajax-stuff that will let you view the search results within the artist page.
Please tell me if you like the changes, and report any bugs..
Delete the songs first, and then you will get the option to delete the book.
Please check here: <a href="http://www.chordie.com/forum/index.php?t=msg&th=653&start=0&S=bdcc552002a8658e6dd0fc46269d07ac" target="_blank"> http://www.chordie.com/forum/index.php? … h=653& start=0&S=bdcc552002a8658e6dd0fc46269d07ac</a>
I have redesigned the artist pages, updated the info from Wikipedia and added some pictures.
Here is an example:
<a href="http://www.chordie.com/song.php/songartist/Bob%2C+Dylan/index.html" target="_blank"> http://www.chordie.com/song.php/songart … Dylan/inde x.html</a>
Lots of changes here, so there might be bugs. I have not tested in Opera and Safari yet, and is unsure how it works in low screen resolutions. All feedback is appreciated.
I am planning to totally rewrite the public songbook feature. It has turned out to be very popular, and I must find a better way of scaling it. Searching will be a feature in the new version.
Thanks for the support!
The best way of contributing to Chordie today, is to buy the Jamorama acoustic guitar course: <a href="http://www.chordie.com/jamaco.php" target="_blank">http://www.chordie.com/jamaco.php</a>.
I am getting percentages of this sale, but I would never have promoted it if I wasnot 100 percent sure it was a brilliant product. The course goes from beginner to professional, and have lots of good tips. It is great value.
Still want to donate? Buy the course, think of it as a donation and get a fantastic guitar course for free... <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_smile.gif" border=0 alt="Smile">
Chordie will launch an alternative way of publishing music/lyrics/tablature. The service should be availiable later this year.
However it will be possible to participate in the technology preview before that time. If you want to take part of this beta testing, please contact me. It would be great if you attached one of your songs/lyrics/tablature.

I have added a couple of links to the front page. If you are a member of either digg.com or del.icio.us, you can help Chordie by clicking these links.
Any Chordie users from Toronto? I am visiting the city in a couple of weeks, and would love to get some tips about places to visit and music to listen to.
Please contact me: <a href="mailto:admin@chordie.com" target="_blank">admin@chordie.com</a>
You are all 100 percent correct.
The rating system for the songbooks are not working correctly today. I am not sure what is causing it, but I think it is related to search engines following the "rate"-links. This is causing too much noice.
I will delete all ratings shortly, and only allow registered users to rate the books - maybe only after they have opened the book. Unfortunately it might take a couple of weeks before this is implemented.
A major overhaul of the "public songbooks" will follow. Please come with suggestions. There are several "gems" hidden deep inside here. Any ideas about how these gems could be easier to find, is deeply appreciated.
Look at pages like this one: <a href="http://www.chordie.com/browseartist.php/b.php" target="_blank">http://www.chordie.com/browseartist.php/b.php</a>
In the right corner you will see: "Showing all songs: change". Click it.

Hi,
Has anybody experienced that Chordie has been unavailiable the last days? Or any other connection errors?
If so, please report when you have experienced this problem, what part of the site you were trying to load, and if the problem disappeared when you reloaded the page.
admin
Alex,
Have you tried the "filter"-function? This shows only formatted songs with chords, and is basically making Chordie i chord-only-site.

I am able to reproduce this error. I do not know what is causing it. Ill look into it.
Currently this is not possible. Well, you could of course download the songbook and edit the base font in the css-file, but that is a bit "hackish".
Tell me more about why you want this?
It should not be necessary to use a propotional font on the formatted songs. Unformatted songs should already have an proportional font. Are you having problems with unsuccessfully formatted song?
