hi james,

nice power chords my man, i could hear plenty of bass and heavy guitars and drums giving this a back beat full of gusto!

as far as gossip goes, i hate it when people just make it up to amuse themselves or to back-stab someone who may once have been a friend, but as i always say; if they're talking about you, they're giving someone else a rest.

nice one

this began as a riff while i was torturing my guitar two weeks ago! then came chords, finally words. i discovered the theme came from a letter from an insurance company (more than)
and i think the words were inspired by Helena's "Mantis Woman". it's moved on to the girl taking a holiday with her friends to Spain or Turkey where she meets a waiter or just a gigalo, but finds he's not the nice guy he seemed on the beach, she owns up, but can her boyfriend trust her ever again?...girls be warned!

More ThanUndefined

chorus

More than just a [D]smile, [Bm]more than just a word

More than just a [G]sign, [Em]more than things you've h[A]eard

listen to the [G]wind[A] pas[Bm]sing through the [Em]trees

When the summers [G]gone,[F#m] [Em] still the [A]wind [G]goes [D]on

My love was far [Bm]away, on a distant [Em]shore[A]

She phoned me every [Bm]day, her love for me she [Em]swore[A]

How slow the days passed [G]by, [A] [Bm]minutes seemed like [Em]days

The time for her [G]return,[A] [Bm] but she [Gm]never [D]came

I waited every day, waited for her call               (REPEAT SAME CHORDS FOR EACH VERSE)

And when at last it came, i was ready for the fall

She'd met another man, on a beach he looked so cool

That night he showed a side, a side that was so cruel

repeat chorus

[G]Too late [A] [Bm] [D]to[A] be [G]sorry[A] [Bm] [D]

Too[A] much [G]pain [A] [Bm]to carry

[Em]How could [Gm]she be trusted [D]now?

repeat chorus

how sorry she became, now she wanted to return

How could i take her back, with all the things I'd learned?

If he'd been something else, a saint to make her proud

Would she still want me, would she here now?

alternative chorus

More than just a smile, more than just a word

More than just a sign, more than things you've heard

More than just a lie, a secret hard to hold

The lie begins to hurt, when the story's told

PS, I've already put this on my web.

ark,

they say dogs are for life, it's not your life unfortunately! it is so sad when a pet you've loved for years dies, which is why i wont have any more, i always had a dog or cat [my dad loved budgies] when i was a kid, then goldfish [low maintenance] later when i had kids of my own.

i had one golden spaniel, it was one generation from pedigree, but someone stole him, that was enough for me.
my next door neighbour has a yorkie, she treats him like a son [she has four daughters!!!]
the one she has now is still a pup, the one she had before him had to be put down with old age, so, so sad...

well done Mulder!

I'm not that well-versed on US politics but i get the general gist of it, the ordinary people [i like to call us cannon fodder] get dumped on from a great height...as usual!

over the pond we have much the same problem, profits before people. i will be out of a job next year due to the company not making as much profit as the bankers demand. [change initial letters to suit] so the factory closes, and the machines go to other factories, it costs more to move these old machines that wont ever run again than to pay us to keep them going, will they never learn? and the politicians allow this to happen.
here's a question; when everyone's out of work, who will pay the taxes that keep the governments in luxury? not the businessmen, all their millions are banked overseas in numbered accounts.

i wont start on secret organisations or we could be here all day!

bet your sorry you started this one now?

thought provoking little tune there teacher

hi kap,

been off-line for a week so i nearly missed this one, it's a truely lovelly song, and the chords fit beautifully [the way i played it anyway, which was very mid 70's prog rock not heavy but gently]

great chords on the chorus that last Bm to F#diminished, where did you find that?

i played the C add 9th on the 8th fret adding the 9th on the 6th string to add the D note and then the G chord as natural, it gave it a nice feel, i dont know if thats the way you meant it but i found it good that way.

hope you find someone to correct you and put you in line [and pick up your old sox and stuff] also comfort you... soon wink

this is something i knocked up last year when i was on yahoo answers, i had got fed up with all the nonsense the pet lovers would spout about their pets, and i just thought get a life! it's not that i hate animals quite the opposite, but no animal could take the place of a person, especially if your lucky like me and found your soul mate...any way with chords...my dog [it's meant to be a laugh, so dont take it seriously]

My Dogby Phill Williams

[C] I had a dog, his name was Rat

How could I name a [G]dog like that?

But Rat was his name, and his name was Rat

He would only come when you [C]called him that

[C]Rat had no breed, not just one you see

He had many breeds in his [G]"pedigree"

Oh yes, he had a Pedigree,

For his breakfast, his lunch

And some[C]times his tea

But his [G]parents were mutts, and so was [C]he

A [C]long and happy life he lived

And though he's dead, he's [G]with me still

Stuffed and mounted

With a plaque at his feet

Saying, "Here is my Rat, may he [F]rest [G]in [C]peace."

oh by the way "pedigree" is a make of dog food. and russel, tea means dinner in your lingo not the drinking stuff, but dinner didnt fit big_smile

hi Russel,

whiskey is the domain of the Irish [as in Helena] and tea English as in daddy cool] we Welsh are known for "cawl" which is a kind of thick stew with potatoes meat and vegetables.

as a drink we might also partake of the odd glass of tea or whiskey or vodka, but there is a local beer called brains beer [which is not made of brains at all...it just tastes like it!]

also as wales is quite a mountainous country, we have some of the worlds purest and sweetest natural water [which is why the English keep trying to flood the whole place sad ]

your national drink is tequila...right?

hi helena,

arnt ducatti's motorbikes?

i've become aware of your "mantis women" over the last few years, they are the ones that [while i'm on stage singing] will flash their bra's [if their wearing them] or of late, their thong!

i'm not boasting but a few have even come up and fondled me! they must be hard up to need to fondle me....

yes you've hit the nail on the head here, well described and written, love to hear it as you intend it, so get recording

hi daddy,

this reminded me of the time the wife and i went to Rhodes on holiday, the sun beds had all gone so we went to sunbathe on the lawn near a hedgerow, i heard a rustling which i thought was a bird, but it was a great big rat! i never told the wife, she would have gone ape sh*t, and we've never gone back.

we still have a lot of hedgerows where i live, and i just love the green, oh i just had another memory [a nicer one] when i was a kid, there was a house nearby that had really lush hedgerows, and we used to run across the road [there wernt so many cars about in those days] and dive into the hedge, it used to ruin the hedge and annoy the hell out of the owner, good old days eh?

hi russ,

like i said to you the other day, i've written two new songs, [i never mentioned the titles] one is called "betrayed", so you can imagine my surprise when i saw your "betrayal"  but reading through your words theres a bit of a different slant to the two songs. i thought for a moment we were two minds acting as one!
nice words heart rending, hope you've got over the pain. i like the way you go all biblical "woman what is thy pleasure" classic

you've hit the spot again

hi gang,

i'm 57 been playing [or torturing] the guitar since i was 14. i'm from llanelli in south wales uk, so russel that makes me welsh big_smile bought a cheapy first of all which broke after a few weeks! eventually graduated to a 1972 strat, in white [i'd just seen george harrisons bangla desh film]. i still have the strat plus a fender f90, a nondescript 12 string [but it sounds nice] a krafter semi accoustic round back guitar, and a kort electric, and a wilson bass in black which is probably mid 70's, previous owner was a heavy rocker, as the heavy cross damage is still visable.
STILL LEARNING, STILL STRUGGLING no natural talent so i have to work at it.

thanks kap, yes she was a wonderful woman, i've been lucky all my life that i've had strong yet vulnerable women around me, my gran, my mother, my god mother-aunty dolly and now my wife-ann, i'll get around to writing about them all eventually [most of my songs are about my wife].

i dont know about putting music to it though, at the moment all my music seems to be coming out sounding the same. composer required apply within
