Neat! For a guy who has spent a lot of time around airplanes, watching the wings reconfigure through the flight is amazing.

Zurf,
I have an S6 that I love BUT it is significantly deeper than a 000-15M. I'm considering the latter to replace the former for that very reason. You might want to check out the RK ROS-616 on Amazon - 12 fret, mahogany (sapele) with solid mahogany neck, bone nut/saddle, Grover open-back tuners. I think the "drive out" price is $494.

While I prefer the Martin 15Ms, there is a 000-15 for sale on CL near me that is hard to resist. I know the difference and would much prefer the M but...

There are some very nice deals on Amazon. Use "ROCKTOUR" code for an additional 15% off. AND, if you shop in the "musical outlet" area it's a cheapskate's paradise. For example: Recording King ROS-616 solid mahogany, 12-fret (list for $699), can be had for less than $500 shipped to your door.

Cort L100C (solid top) beater for $131. Zurf, this has your name all over it to fulfill your "campfire guitar" quest.

Here's one with a "vanilla lining". Just in time for Christmas.

That's funny. I don't care who you are.

Can't make this stuff up!

zguitar,
Me too. CL ads can be quite funny. I concur with your thoughts of lack of description, etc. On a few occasions I re-wrote the ad and sent it too them as as suggestion on how to actually the sell the guitar. No one has ever taken my advice as far as I know.

+1 on CCR's Bad Moon Risin'

It was my first favorite song at six years old. I remember my brother and I lugging a small record player over to a friends house so we could listen to the 45. They were six years older than I and I felt pretty "cool" tagging along. A fond memory, so when I started to learn the guitar I thought it would be natural to learn that song. I recorded myself and and now my version of that song is my cellphone ringtone.

I think Parkwood is a Guitar Center "store" brand. Not bad, and in this case, all-solid, but there are probably better choices. I shared the ad here as I found the "rosewood top" funny.

Guitar headcount has ebbed to a local minimum of two. (Okay plus one electric which I have no interest in and never play. In fact I am showing it to a buyer today.)

Playing? Yes, most days. Progressing? Slowly. Joy? YES!

Better than a freshly-washed car! I enjoy the process if cleaning and re-stringing.

Congrats! NGDs are the best! I think we should all have one at least once a week. But since that's not realistic we will have to live vicariously. Thanks and enjoy!

Great story! Inspiring. I am happy for you. Getting out of your comfort zone can be uncomfortable (duh!) but it is most always rewarding.

Two steel and wood contraptions, instruments they are called. They have the same purpose but achieve it in different ways. They are the scalpel and an axe. The scalpel, as the name suggest, is sharp, precise, it’s dimensions obviously measured to sub-millimeter tolerances and the materials finished and polished to sterility. It’s notes are sharp, precise, and clear as a beautiful fall day. A day that is cool and crisp with endless blue sky. Holding the scalpel is intimate and the instrument blends with one’s arms and body. It is connected directly to the brain by fiber optic cables and lossless digital circuitry. Hum, strum, or wince, and the instrument does likewise. Purity of thought and action are rewarded with perfect fidelity. Mistakes likewise. Precision is the watchword and the scalpel delivers perfectly.

The axe, while not blunt, does offer wider tolerances and permits many shades of gray to color its response. It’s tolerance is measured in fractions of inches and its weather is a gray calm day where the lighting is even and perfect and shadows retreat. The axe is made of fine materials but they are allowed to retain much of their original character, texture, color, and scent. They provide delightful tactile stimulation and a cleavage to the fingers, arms, and body that hold it. It’s circuitry is metal and gas and it passes on all the subtleties it can gather to accompany the original intent. Hum, strum, or wince and the instrument does likewise. Purity of thought and action are rewarded with perfect fidelity. Mistakes likewise. Precision is the watchword of and the axe delivers perfectly.

Two instruments. Different styles but both with a perfect interpretation of the player’s thoughts. Two builders, the same goal, both with perfect results.

My birthday gift to me was a Recording King RP-06 0-sized guitar. I have it with me in Germany. What a great instrument.
Thanks for the wishes.

Welcome,
I'm a lefty (although I play right) and a newbie of sorts mostly because I am a slow learner. Enjoy!

To answer my own question: I cannot buy a folding guitar. Despite the raves of the Voyageair I just could never purchase one.
For travel I just bought a RK 0-sized guitar. What a delight and later today I'll be able to tell you if it fits in the overhead bin of a commercial airplane as I'm flying to Germany.

Thanks guys. It's in me I just need to get it out. I figured if I went "public" I might somehow find encouragement. Thanks for your comments.

Zurf,
Somehow I missed this post. It is comforting to hear you GASSING. The Martin D-15M is both ugly and beautiful and the sound! I am fighting this version of GAS myself. Although I am leaning towards the 000-15M.

I am a self-taught beginner throwing this "thing" out there. Very scary.

There was a tempting DY-38. But I find if I am not careful I end up with a stable full of the ubiquitous Dreadnought. Not my favorite body shape. I'd like to find a FY Yairi.
