Zguitar, you found a need for a guitar and you filled it. Unfortunately you had to pay for the guitar but young folks will be able to enjoy it.
I hope income from another student will compensate you.
I was at a tiki bar in the Virgin Islands on vacation. I noticed a classical guitar hanging on the wall. I asked the bartender whose guitar it was and she said it was for anybody who wanted to play. She told me Jimmy Buffet stopped by once and took it down and played a few tunes.
Naturally, I had to get it down, tune it up and scrub off a tune or two.
What a good idea. Since then I have been on small cruise ships and tiny bars where even an inexpensive cheap guitar available for anyone to play would have added much to an evening's enjoyment. Even a really bad player on an acoustic guitar wouldn't be loud enough to be a problem.

Got called out of retirement by my good friend Diana at her Fish River Grill#2 restaurant. She invited me out Friday to hear a good local duo playing there.
They were quite good and I told her so.                                         She said, "Why don't you play here tomorrow from noon to three?"  I warned her I was rusty but was proud to accept.
I didn't need a P.A. I just showed up with my acoustic guitar and a stool. The crowd was very nice, tips were good and Ms. Diana treated me to her fabulous catfish platter. I couldn't possibly sing after one of those so I ordered at the end of the gig and brought it home to share with my wife.
Put a hot new set of strings on the ol' Yamaha. I used a soft pick so the guitar wouldn't drown out my vocals.
I had a really good time.

The problem is, you can never be sure where the dog will bite. he may ignore your padded arm and bite you somewhere else.
A mean old dog in my neighborhood ran out as I walked by and bit down on the crotch of my pants and stared me right in the eye. Thank goodness he only got fabric. I walked slowly backwards until I was off his property and he let go.
Happy to still have a deep voice,

I was a trumpet player in a jazz rock band. We had one song with no horn lines. I heard a second guitar line in my head that I believed could go well with the arrangement. My guitar playing was just barely adequate to do a decent job on my new line. I practiced until I had it down cold. The next band rehearsal, I brought my guitar.
My band mates  complained loudly that I was trying to showboat by doubling. They did like my guitar line in that one song but next gig they hid my guitar to teach me a lesson. They told me to shut up and blow the trumpet.

I have made a copy. I need an e-mail address to send it. I tried scanning to copy and paste and that failed.
I have it in my sent file. If I get an address all I have to do is forward it.
I am computer ignorant. Someone please advise.

Gillian Welch can pick. Enjoyed the link, sir.
Sounds like you guys had a fine trip together.
My wife no longer gets on my motorcycle or our sailboat. Says she's too old. I'm not ready to embrace that rocking chair just yet.

The chords on the video you submitted sound wrong to me so I used Bing to search and found this Frank Sinatra arrangement.

Took a couple harmonica lessons. All the notes aren't on it. That drives me nuts. Chromatic harmonicas aren't practical either.

Starting out in my old days, I needed to learn new songs and had only a 45 RPM record as my source. Super slow going at first. I started the record and tried to find the very first note on my guitar (after I tuned my guitar to the record). Then the second note in the song and so on.
When it came to chords, I would find the tonic ( C for a C chord).
I would then try a C major chord with the record. If that was wrong, I'd go down the list of C minor, C7, C major 7, C+ (augmented), C dim etc... until I found one that sounded right.
It took me a week of nights after work to learn "Crying" by Roy Orbison. I wrote the lyrics big enough to read in a dimly lit bar room and jotted the chords in red ink above the syllable of the word where they changed. Practice allowed me to do this faster as years went by.
It was slow but the only way.
These days most lyrics and chords can be copied and pasted from a website and then printed out in any size font. You have to sing and play them along with the U-Tube video to see if they are correct.

A guitar amp will work. A piano has more and lower bass than a guitar so a 15 inch speaker will help.

I have a Japanese Yamaha FG 350W that cost $300 back in the 70's and is worth about that much now but it plays, sounds and looks great. It's plenty enough guitar for a strummer like me. I plan to keep it.
My buddy donated an Chinese made Applause acoustic guitar with a plastic body and a laminated top to me for a boat guitar. It's not very loud with the plastic body but it has a nice neck, low action and holds a tune fine.
The Japanese and Chinese are now building really nice guitars that are priced right for beginners to buy and us old hacks to keep.

My biggest thrill was a Saturday night we played at a rock and roll bar on Duval Street in Mobile, Alabama called the Dixie Club. The band Chicago stopped in after their gig at the Mobile Municipal Auditorium and asked if they could play. They told us they were sick of their concert material and just wanted to jam out. They sure did. Wow!
They played the rest of the evening and we still got paid. Cool!
