I hang 'em in my AC basement. I have a dehumidifier down there as well. If there in a case, they just don't get played as much.

Every guitar is different. Here's what I do:
1. determine your budget
2. head off to your local chain store and play as many guitars as you can ignoring brand/price
3. narrow it down to 5 of what you feel are the best.
4. look at the labels
5. select the 1 that fits your budget (hopefully one of them does)
6. leave the chain store and go to your local shop and ask them if they can match the price
7. buy it from the local guy if he's close as the chains SUCK!!!!!

Works everytime.

I agree with jaygordon75, the Japanese Strats are of the best quality. However, they come usually at a premium. I'd say if you have the money then go for it. If you're a newer player you may want to consider the Made in Mexico alternative. I've always heard the Highway Ones were lower quality but have never actually played one. You can get a new MIM Standard Stratocaster for less than a used Japanese Stratocaster.

People have been harming other people in the name of their "god" as long as recorded history. Like Ken says, it's human nature. These terrorists are just fanatical religious lunatics. There is nothing special about what they do' Look back into history..the Crusades...the Romans..Weren't the founding father's of this country really terroroists from a specific point of view???

Zurf's right without hate this wouldn't occur but that just isn't the nature of the beast...man.

I bought a round neck (Spanish style I guess) to play around with. I have every intention of learning to play slide guitar but have yet to really dedicate myself to it yet. They are alot of fun even just to play around on. I find myself picking it up more and more.

So, a condenser mic for my guitar.  How about my voice?  Would I also use a condenser mic for my voice?  As I understand it, condenser mics are highly directional and dynamic mics pick up noise from a broad area.  If so, then I'd think a condenser mic for my voice too, or it will pick up as much of the guitar as the guitar mic would.

Thanks for the answers so far.  Very helpful.

Yup I use the same for both.

What kind of microphone would I use if I wanted to just mic it instead of plugging it in?  There are so many different kinds.  Imagine me on a barstool (real stretch huh?) with a guitar and an amp that has a couple plugs/channels.  If I wanted to mic my voice and another mic on my guitar, and try to keep them fairly separate, what mics would I use?

Is this the right place, or should it be in one of the other forums?  Hard to say.  It's here.  If it needs to be moved, sorry.

I've been using a condensor mic for acoustics and it sounds pretty good. Good enough to toss the Dean Markley Pro Mag pick up on the shelf. I know they make mics specifically for this but I'm not a professional or a gigger, just like recording. I think mine is an MXL990. I have both a USB and regular one. I would say from my limited experience and in my situation, if I could only do one or the other (a Dean Markley Pro Mag or miking it) I'd choose the condensor mic. Sounds better to me. Again, I'm a novice and I'm sure there are others who will chime in with more experience...Just my 2 cents

As "kilt" said: if I had the money.

THAT IS A CRUCIAL MOMENT, SOME CAN'T HANDLE SUCCESS.
I remember me AND WHO ELSE KNOW IT but in the seventies there was a DEAD LIST:
1) LOU REED
2) KEITH RICHARDS
on top, and see: both are alive. I also remember a fact from one of the many "biographies" that Keith survived because he had enough $$$$ to buy it = (drugs)pure

Keith Richards has no business being alive (I'm glad he is) ...sheer luck I'd say. Didn't he recently just fall out of a tree? he's over 60???
Zurf and Southpaw are right...we're all just people no one is any better than any other. Those who perish do so because of character weakness. It's not fame. There are many examples of famous people living a long time.

Dean Markley Pro Mag works OK. No install. Installs into sound hole with no tools. about $75.00 or so. I use it on my 12 string. It's not as nice as the TK4 installed pick up in my Takamine G series but for 75.00 it's OK.

Naked girls or unpasteurized beer and ice cream.....hmmmm. I'm not sure everyone's choice would be as noble.

Fire on High by Electric Light Orchestra spun backwards "The music is reversable but time is not...turn back, turn back....Yes, I can remember records!!!!!

Shine on You Crazy Diamond from Wish You Were Here or Sheep from Animals by Pink Floyd. Those are 2 solos I wish I'd played on.

That's some scary stuff. I'm sure you'll be careful but it's very disheartening. Kudos to you for not ignoring it. Stay with it I'm sure they'll figure it out. Keep smiling and strumming!!

I find sometimes when I use notepad to print out songs"which I like because it's bigger print, I can read it better", that sometimes it moves the chords, but I go behind it and proof read it, then as  Deadstring I think it was mentioned earlier in the a post I correct it by hand.

Cam

Cam's advice is solid. I too use Notepad. It's very effecient (small file sizes) as well. I'm able to put hundreds of songs on my cell phone which proves to helpful since I burnt all my brain cells in my younger years.

Happy Anniversary. They get better and better as time goes on (contrary to what you may have heard). I wouldn't eat the cake though...we still have the top of it; damn close to 20 years

Your acoustic is probably "set up" for whatever they recommended. I wouldn't switch to mediums without having your acoustic set up again. The differences are pretty straightforward: extra/lights are easier to play but not quite as full sounding as mediums

Well, I'd advise trying the proper chord forms as much as your hands can stand. You will regret not learnign all the proper forms...of course, for just enjoyment, by all means use the "baby" chords to play songs etc. Try to split your time between practice and fun. If you have an hour a day, use 1/2 for practice and 1/2 for playing. Eventually practice and playing will become the same activity.
As far as a comfortable guitar goes, get the most comfortable one you can, that'll help. I don't recommend putting nylon strings on a steel string but I have never tried it.

I agree with the above. I use a thin pick (.5mm) for strumming and a very thick pick for playing leads (Dunlop Jazz 3). Your mileage may vary......
