I am working on Pancho and Lefty by Willie Nelson, but having trouble getting the intro smooth.  And also working on Harvest Moon by Neil Young.  Got the intro on that one down, but having trouble singing as high as it needs to be.  I sing it down an octave and it is too low.

Capo time Pete, or write the chords down at least three whole steps. Neil Young is a really high tenor and most of us old guys are baritones or lower.

My 1960 Gibson 330 and my grandson, Casey who was 9 at the time.

Guitars and motorcycles all make beautiful sounds, so it's totally on topic.  smile

Very astute, Jerome. Guitars have a positive correlation with sailboats as well as motorcycles. I always take a guitar along on my sailboat. Have yet to find a practical way to transport a guitar (or tuba) on a motorcycle.
Bill Moore, I also learned the hard way not to scare the ladies.
I had my wife and her cat aboard my sailboat in a big wind. I refused to lower sail and motor. She took her cat and her gear home forever. That was two years ago.

I love it, BGD. If you can't be totally truthful, you get into the spirit of the occasion. After all, it's only sleaze. I bet you guys had big fun.

From context, I read the word "chuffed" as maybe meaning "thrilled'?
So sorry to hear of Ms. Marion's injuries. May her recovery be soon and complete.
I am "chuffed" to read you guys have a garden by a lake to sing in as well as a Takamine "big boy" to enjoy.
Looking forward to your "piccies", sir.

Very good, Steelstrings. Another "Buying a Bird"

This guy wanted to buy his mother something really nice for her birthday. She lived alone and he decided a talking bird would be fun company for her.
He went to a pet shop and inquired about a bird that could talk. The pet shop guy said, "I have several talking birds but I must recommend this one parrot as the very finest." The customer asked what was so special about this bird. Pet shop guy replied, "He is my best talker and he speaks in five languages - but he costs $600."
"$600-wow", says the customer. 'I'll pay that if he's that good." And he did and had the bird shipped to his mom's address..
A few days later he called up his mom and asked, "Hey mom, how did you like that bird I sent you?" She said, "I loved it. He was delicious."
The son replied, "Mom, I can't believe you ate that bird. I paid $600 for him. He spoke five languages."
His mom replied, "Well, he should have said something."

That was the 2 stroke, wasn't it?  Those things were insane (and loud (and smoky)).

Yes indeed - two stroke, noisy, smoky and lousy mileage but light, maneuverable and so fast for it's size. Has automatic oil mix and Klotz oil costs 24 bucks a quart. Gotta get the revs up for real power but when you do...

@Buzzwagon and Dino48. You guys are absolutely right. That old 400 can scare the pants off some 750's. People come alongside me at stop lights and try to buy that old RD out from under me.

i have a mid-70's Yamaha FG-350W guitar and a 1976 Yamaha RD400 motorcycle. I intend to use them both until they wheel me out to the graveyard to be worm food.
I love 'em both. The good quality surprised me.
Happy boy!

The band is tuned down to Eb. The chords tuned 1/2 step down would be Eb,Ab,Bb. Or, you can sing it higher by 1/2 step and play E,A,B. Or you can do it down in D,G and A.

He's got a capo on 2 but his guitar is tuned down 2 half steps so alls I had to do was play C,F and G in standard (440) tuning.
Chords are C, F and G until a bridge that goes Dm, F, C, Am,Dm,FFF,G.
Then back to C,F and G.
Repeat all above until a second, different bridge that goes:
E,Am,E,Am,F,C,F,G,C,F,G etc...
Next bridge goes: Dm,F,C,A major,Dm,FFF,G, Dm,FFF,G,Dm,FFF,G
Then, C,F,G until they are done.
Boogie 'til you puke,

Phil, next month I'll be 70. I keep thinking I'm over the hill but things keep popping up that I still enjoy doing.
I got caught in a sudden rain on my motorcycle yesterday. As long as my speed was less that 45MPH the rain drops didn't hurt. It was such a hot day I enjoyed getting soaked.
I played a surprise lunch gig at a local eatery. I got to play out my music jones and got paid, tipped and fed. Loved that.
i huff and puff but I can still crawl about on my sailboat and make it go when the breeze blows.
I keep thinking I will feeb out and cease to enjoy what is left in my life. Not today or tomorrow that I can tell. Since I have no control over the day I loose control, I have decided not to worry about it for now.
Your poem describes a life lived as a gentleman with many of the things you enjoy still available to you. With little to regret and much to look forward to, there is much happy to be had in your future.
May your smiles be many and your tears few, sir.

I wrote a post earlier about a nice Yamaha guitar I bought at a Mobile, Alabama flea market for $85. I had no cash that day so my son lent me the $85 plus ten more for a new light kit for my utility trailer.
My son listed the guitar on Craigslist and then E-Bay and found that so many guitars were for sale he got no bids. I offered to pay him back but he said the guitar looked pretty leaning against his bedroom wall and he was enjoying strumming it.
He told me yesterday that he sold it to a friend for $150. Yippy doo! I don't have to pay him back and I got a free light kit.
