Hi nela, I use brass pins on my 6string and 12string. Ebony pins were also good. I wouldn't have thought pins made a difference until I started to experiment. I don't want to sound like a commercial/endorsement but I purchase strings and other accessories from stringsandbeyond.com. I don't like to leave the mountain unless I have to, so I just have stuff delivered to my mailbox whenever possible.

Well, Happy NGD to ya, sorta! I love old and obscure guitars, I do a little work on em, make em sound and play better, then give them to budding guitarists with the suggestion that they give it to someone else when they upgrade to a new or better guitar.

hurkamer, take a chill pill. Chordie is free to all and costs you nothing. You make one post and it is rude. Please be mindful that some us have children who also use Chordie and the attitude of your post is offensive, please tone it down so the kids and I can enjoy their time here.

Welcome to Chordie, bugz. It takes time, to build muscle memory in your fretting hand. Keep practicing and challenging yourself and you'll be amazed at what you can do. There are lots of songs that only use three chords (G-C-D). Look in the public books section, I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for.

Hello and welcome to the forums Michael, I see you've been a member for a few years. I've found it easier to group my songs by artists name, it seemed to difficult to find the song I wanted to play when all are in one huge book. Usually when I look at the public books and see more than 50 listed I just skip it and prefer to go through smaller songbooks - could be that I'm just old and have a short attention span. Again welcome and hope you join in on the forums.

Wonderful, sounds like a fun time going on there.

When buying guitars, cars, guns and tools, I purchase what I like, within a limited budget, and have been satisfied without thinking about brand. Would it be different if my budget was unlimited, I don't know, never been rich enough to answer that question. To paraphrase Rule #1, if it sounds good and feels good, it is good.

Happens every once in a while, I just relax and play guitar a bit and all is right with the world.

Jim, I gotta tell ya that is a sweeeet looking guitar, I like the look of natural wood grain. You've inspired me, I have a lot of wood laying around my wood shop, because I just can't bring myself to throw stuff away. I'm such a pack rat! By the way I'm an Alvarez fan too.

All this talk about fishing has gotten to me, renewed the boat registration and cleaned up the boat (it had become a storage area for junk), put new line on the fishing reels and organized the tackle box. I'm all set to go except I need to buy another guitar to keep on the boat. I'll need to come up with new stories about the "one that got away" to tell the wife and grandchildren (they've heard all the old stories and associated embellishments).

I always consider myself just a below average guitarist, but every once in a while I'll get into the "zone". When I come out of the music room my wife will say "that was a really great piece you played". I don't know how it happens, it just does and feels "right". Just wish I could do it all the time. Like you said, "maybe we have a little bit of it."

There certainly has been a lot of this spam stuff recently. I want to extend my thanks to the mods for all they do. It was only last week that I became aware of the report feature and how to use it to help drop the hammer down on them.

Dang side effects. Stay positive NELA.
