LOVE me some Lead Belly - such an incredible influence for so many musicians

^^Bill - This is held in Madeira Beach. Right across the bridge from St. Petersburg in the Tampa Bay area. Not really close to Panama City or Ft. Walton, but I hope you can make it anyway!

SteveO - you and Tommy Boy are welcome to pitch a tent in the backyard. Hotel Rooms are pretty pricey this time of year (as you know). The yard isn't very big, but it should fit 3 or 4 tents without a problem.

Zurf - Of course I have a grill - that's a silly question - both charcoal and gas. I plan on making a big pot of Gumbo and maybe a brisket (or some other large hunk of meat) on Saturday - wings on Friday or Sunday for lunch sounds good to me!

Nice job Kev!

OK folks - I've been thinking of the schedule for this year and could use your input. I figure Friday and Saturday will be the same as years past. Maybe a beach Jam Friday night, then hitting a local pub or restaurant followed by a casual jam at my place - mostly for the travelers. Saturday will be the main event - all day / night jam ay my place - this year on the back porch and yard.

Sunday is the change up. As there is no more London Bus Pub, we have no plans for the day - I'm happy just continuing the jam here, but I'm sure others might like to explore the area a bit while they are in town. Toney is now playing a Sunday gig at a great venue on the water a few miles up the road and I thought it would be fun to go see him - he starts at 6:00.  So Sunday afternoon - what is everyone's preference? Everyone can just do their own thing - head to the beach, whatever. We can Jam here again. There are multiple boating / fishing options - all day or 1/2 day fishing charters - in or off-shore. I found a place that rents party / pontoon boats - they have a 25' pontoon that sits 17 for  about $65 per hour -that might be fun. Probably could do some fishing, strumming and sightseeing for a very reasonable cost.

So let me know your thoughts - If there is enough interest in the boat rental, I'll go ahead and reserve it. Couple of links:

John's Pass - a mile down the road - fishing charters, waverunners, parasailing, touristy type shops and restaurants http://www.johnspass.com/

Roger - It's a pretty long swim. I recommend you get one of these

TF - That guitar is a Composite Acoustic and I love it. Come on down and give it a strum sometime!

UncleJoe - I didn't get your email. I just sent you one - please respond

8 weeks from now we should be starting the fun!

The previous 2 were a blast but I'm thinkin' this 'un's gonna be legendary !

It does keep getting better that for sure - next year I might need a bigger yard!

Looking back, there were 5 of us at  Chordiestock I, plus maybe a few locals joined in at the LBP. Last year (chordestock II), there were 8 chordians plus 4 or 5 local friends (plus spouses).

As of now, I count 13 chordians (including 4 newbies), plus 10 or so non-chordie friends who should be here. Throw in the spattering of spouses / non-pickers and we are pushing a party of 30!  Can't wait!

I don't know anything about Tanglewood guitars and even less about ASG pickups, but I still wanted to say Happy NGD!

^Good guessing Doug - you got them exactly correct

I wish you guys would not keep putting these fancy do-dads up on here!!

First it was Russ with his automatic tuners; my Fender Strat went and ordered itself one and now it is Tenenment Funster with his Power pins. My Tanglewood acoustic has gone and ordered itself a set of these.

I am banning my guitars from e-bay and Amazon.

Roger

Just a little warning about the Power Pins. A Luthier / Guitar tecj friend of a friend does not recommend them. Says they put undue pressure on the rear part of the bridge and that he has had to reattach more than one bridge due to their use. Of course, your mileage may vary.

Awesome deadstring - I hope you can make it! Bring your mando - there are plenty of guitars to go around!

Thats awesome dude - I'll never forget how you first supported me - came to visit with all them guitars - showed me how to make a barre chord and encouraged me to hang on. Then you brought your beautiful wife the next time while we jammed with Dennis on the Tuba. You really need to come to chordiestock and see Paul and Zurf again and meet Dirty Ed, Jets, Beamer and our special guests. Check the chordiestock III thread and come on down! Would love to see you!

So what musical goodies did you chordians get for Christmas? Besides the new strat and amp (I bought for myself), my son got me "The Electric Guitar Handbook" (which I am finding very useful) and a pick making tool to cut my own picks from credit cards and such.

Siggi - you are about an 8 hour drive from me. If you could find a way to make it to chordiestock III, it would be great having you. See thread here: (http://www.chordie.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=24511)

If you cannot make it, I will do my best to schedule a visit to your place for a jam. I know a few others within a day's drive who might be willing as well. Keep Rockin' bud!

OK, so I might wear dark socks and sandals once in a while - that might make me an Old Fart, but I've got 15 + years before I reach retirement!

Take it easy NELA, relax and enjoy the Holidays!

Nice job Pete - the effects sound good!

Hi TIJLIK,

This will be the 3rd year for chordiestock, held annually in Madeira Beach, FL (Tampa Bay area). It all started when an English chap (Normtheguitar) took me up on my invitation to crash on my couch - sounded like a great reason for a party to me!

The gatherings typically run between 10 and 15 pickers / strummers / bass players, including some local friends plus a smattering of spouses. Top of my head I count 9 different chordians who have attended and several will be returning for a 3rd year straight. I know of at least 2 confirmed newbies coming this year.

Links below are threads from previous years and include some photos. Please join us if you can - a great time is pretty much guaranteed!
