I've tried all the suggestions made, and I am still having the same problem. The features from the right-hand side of the Home page are no longer there. On the song pages the chord diagrams and the add/remove facilities are now below the lyrics ( the scroll button isn't there at all )

What Browser and operating system are you using? This problem stays with Windows XP and Firefox on my PC but not with Internet explorer and firefox..

The "edit" button has been disabled.
Please don't ask a question that has nothing to do with original post on an existing thread as this is considered highjacking start a new thread.

Can a help page be added for each of the main chordie pages explaining how things work? For example, the text from the reply on 2006-08-01 can be used to explain the Most Popular Songs feature.

In addition, it would be good to explain how the chordie search works. For example, "born to be wild" produces no hits, but "steppenwolf born to be wild" does.

The workings of Chordie are mystery known only to the sites creator...
I searched for "Born to be wild" and Steppenwolfs version came up first on Chordie search engine.

Hi payatot22
There's no way to download a songbook and view it the same way as being on the Chordie website.
But you can "view Print" songbook and then copy and paste the screen into wordpad. It's not a true Chopro format but it does give you chords and tabs for the songs offline.

Hi mcclatch
Welcome to Chordie.
Well rhythm and strumming are basically down to practice listening to the song as been said it's a good way of learning the timing of the chord changes. There are other methods such as practicing with a metronome etc. I've not had much time for getting stumming patterns exactly right I just go with what feels right to me.

Writing songs are basically words/music or music/words.....
If you can play 3 chords you can write a song even 2 will do maybe 1 at a pinch smile
Anyway get a 3 chord progression going maybe C G D could be any major chords even minors 7th etc....and see if you can fit a melody (tune) over the the top of the Chords sing it, hum it, whistle it if you like just bang away until you get fed up or bingo something clicks...
or....
Have some words and do the same just make the chords/melody fit the words.
It can be easy or impossible.. just give it go and don't give up
Good luck

I'm having the same problem. All the chord diagrams are at the bottom of the page, along with the options to save to songbook, change tuning from guitar and transpose chords. There are no other options available (like autoscroll, I can't remember the others). What's more I have this problem in both Chrome and Firefox. The only major problem is the diagrams really, what with being a beginner it helps to reference them often which is easier at the top of the page

I think the problem is down to using Chrome or Firefox running on XP.
I might be wrong I'm expert but it maybe so.
I switched to IE and the pages were displayed correctly on XP not so with Firefox.

The feature " New Songbooks " and the others that used to be on the right hand side are no longer there. Also the " scroll " facility is no longer available on the songs.

Now here's a thing...
Chordie on Firefox running on XP on my PC produces small log in boxes and tabs also the right hand panel is missing on Chordie's home page. The right hand pane next to the song is missing and with it the "AUTO SCROLL"  so there's a problem..

But.....
Chordie on IE on the same PC has everything as it should be..
So maybe it's just the browsers that are making things a tad bit odd..

So my advise would be to play around with your browsers if chordie is acting up..

Interesting that I get a lot of what the originator of this thread is talking about.  I am using Windows 7, (same issue when I had Windows XP), Chrome as my browser, and Comcast as my ISP (38 Meg down/ 8 Meg up).  I get a lot of times where I click on links and have to wait 5-10 minutes before the page shows up.  This is nothing new, seen it for many months, just never reported it & saw this thread.  Just wondering if others see this.  Actually, it just happened about 11:40 CDT today.

Hi Tony
Have you tried a different browser.
I use firefox and though like all programes and the net there are delays for various reasons. I've not experienced continual hanging for that long on chordie.
It's just a suggestion.... as you probably know there's nothing written in stone where the net is concerned..

I log in and out with windows7 and XP both using firefox. Not sure if they use the same release date browers XP maybe older...
The login panel and the tabs on the XP have gone very small and the panel to right has disappeared On the Windows7 all seem correct with no change.
Maybe this down to the be down to tweaking done for the ipad users. I must say you need a good eye sight to log on in XP now and the loss of the panel makes it look like there's something wrong with Chordie.

Hi Donovanfraser
The site admin was doing some work on the site yesterday upgradging the technical stuff that will help support people with an ipad. You may have got on when this was happening.
Things seem to running ok for me so give it another go. Other than that maybe it's a browser problem.
Hope it helps

Can we disable hyperlinking for junior members? That would disincentivize spammers and not impact the forum too much. Just a thought

This sort of thing has been discussed in the past during times of increased spamming.
I think it maybe looked into again something coupled with the number posts maybe 20 or so before hypelinking is enabled. I think it may have been to difficult to implement can't quite remember.
Still most spammers are banned and the posts deleted within a day or so. It just makes Chordie look a bit untidy and is annoying.
Thanks

Hi Phill
Just had a listen to your newbies on myspace. I just gotta say I loved "Blue is Grey" great tempo changes and really nice atmos to the piece.
All were excellent and different.

Hi DrumBob and welcome to Chordie...
As the site of Chordie is ONLY a search engine which displays chords and tabs in Chopro form as they appear on other sites the mistakes are down to the original source ie the website where they are displayed. I suggest you go the offending sites and complain to them... Not here on Chordie.

At least you guys from over the pond know when your country was born so to speak.
Here in the UK I don't think the country has been born and we don't have any national day or independence day holiday just boring bank holidays (Great Name)
Happy Canada day to our colonial cousins.....

My heritage goes back to there. Somewhere along the line I'm related to the house of tudors. Not exactly the best royal family one could hope to be related to but oh well. We can chose our friends but we can't chose our family.

I beleive HenryVIII could play the Lute by ear..... big_smile

Thanks for the listening and the comment.
"Currents" was really mixing exercise with some keyboard thrown to mix pure ambient chillout stuff.
It managed to get in the top 10 on ourstage this month smile so I'm pleased....

Hi all
Another instrumental  smile
I just enjoy the whole process of mixing multi track stuff. Guitars and keyboard etc.
I had the title first The Northern and Southern lights fascinate me though listening to the finished piece maybe it just don't cut it.
Anyway have a listen if you like see what you think.

Hi Jeff
Charming little riff you got there it reminded me of some tune from the past. Would be interesting to hear how you work it in with the main melody.
When I was up in Leeds they all seemed love their football team....   smile
