A very Happy Birthday to Zurf our blunt, but well meaning Moderator. I hope you have a great day and may your strings never break and always stay in tune. big_smile

Roger I love the Nashville tuning sounds you get.  Do you have guitars permanently set up for that? If so, do they have to be adjusted for it?

Sorry I missed this, my bad!!

I keep two acoustics Nashville tuned and two normal and yes the string tension is different for the Nashville strings and needed a truss rod adjustment.

Roger

Keeping the Dylan theme from the last two months how about "The Times They Are A-Changin'".

As Doug has pointed out there are no restrictions (apart from new Members not being allowed to add links). As it is a couple of days since you posted this have you sorted it out or are you still having difficulties?

There was an update to Chordie earlier this year and there some Songbook issues mainly due Members not understanding the changes so it you search for 'add to songbook' you may find an answer posted previously, if not, post again here and we will see what we can do to resolve your problem.

Roger

Jan, Nashville tuning has the E, A, D, and G strings replaced with thinner strings and tuned an octave higher than normal, the B and e are tuned as normal and this gives a different sound. I really like the effect of finger picking with this tuning but more importantly, I like to be different to everyone else too big_smile.

Roger

Wow! There are some great and different versions of "Don't Think Twice It's Alright". Now I have completed  mine I have listened to them and commented on Soundcloud but I was unable to access the one from Easybeat. Well done all.

I will listen to "City of New Orleans" songs after I have recorded my own.

Roger

OK I have now posted my version of Don't Think Twice It's Alright. Instruments used: a fingerpicked Nashville tuned guitar, strummed Nashville and standard tuned guitars and the autoharp. The drum and bass are courtesy of Band-in-a-Box.

Congratulation. Always remember it is a grandfather's job to teach his grandchildren the pranks that they have not thought of yet. lol

Someone not so clever -"As thick as two short planks"
Someone who is silly - "As daft as a brush"
Someone very slim - "Like a beanpole"
Someone who is poor - "Hasn't got two ha'pence to rub together" ( ha'pence = half a penny)

My feeling is your grandson would prefer to have the instruments that actually belonged to, and were played by, his grandfather. I still have a couple of items that belonged to my grandfather that I treasure.

Roger

It has been a little hectic this month and I have only just had chance to listen to this month's songs. There are some great covers this month. Rickyjack's use of the harmonica, Peatle Jville's unique style of performing it, Jim's personalised verse (which I also used so he would get mentioned in it smile), Amy's Axl Rose impression with the Back Yard Gathering, Mojo's and Joe's offerings are all impressive, Great job by everyone.

Roger

OK yet another that I have never heard of but I have done my best. Finger picked Nashville tuned guitar, standard tuning for strumming and lead riffs. No Band-in-a-Box instruments, all me, so there is only me to blame lol

'Tom Dooley' is a song that I often use as a  first guitar lesson song as it is only two chords (of course I remember the Lonnie Donegan version) so here it is in 'G' for you. G and D7 are the first two chords I teach, then a student can go home after his/her first lesson and have a song to play, I also use 'He's Got The Whole World in His Hands' which is another two chord song. smile

Dino, it is not a competition, and no one is going to put you down if your singing is not perfect but, if you really do not want to sing, I see no reason why you cannot play the song and get a friend or family member to sing for (or with) you. It is all for a bit of fun and to see how different people interpret a song.

It would be a pleasure to hear something from you but no one would take umbrage if you do not.

Roger

Amy, the charming lady I do not know, Jim, Joey, Joe and Mike that was a great version of the song, wishing I had been there to be a part of it, although I did hear my name mentioned at the end big_smile.

Amy, I thought the Axl Rose impression was great.....

Disappointed that the famous bread machine was not a part of though. lol

Love the video. Have fun you guys and gals and (with a posh English accent) "Good Morning Katie, I hope you are exceedingly well" for my little friend. big_smile
