A revised version of the 1st one. This is in B standard on the Dean Z I had modified.
Still SONBEAM on drums and yes, I floated around a tad on my timing.

"Thoughts from over fifty plus years ago not thought about again till now..
Here we are two eleven year old boys.
In a moment no longer old men.
Just excited about being kids."
"It is easier to be kids in those couple of short years we knew each other,
The moment comes to the inevitable.
The spirit of childhood robbed by a moment called now."
Two of the hardest hitting sections in this.
You hit the nail on the proverbial head.
I have met many of my old pals with Facebook. And after re acquainting with a few of them, you realize they are total strangers. And some 35 years have never happened! that lets you know the depth of your friendship right there.
Thank you for a great poem.

Guys, thank you very much for the high praise. and yes this will be a song soon. Jeff and I are working on this also. He sent me one arrangement that I still need to work with and see what we may still yet do. once done, ill post it in songs.
My buddy, who will be the one singing, was like Where is the hope? I had no clue where it would come from, but I had a nice moment happen and it worked this song well.

HOMEPORT
FEBRUARY 2, 2019
Scott Sailer
I lost love and drowned her emotion
No matter what I tried, No matter that I cried,
I cannot repeat the magic of our first potion,
Filled with shame and regret I lost my pride.
Sailing this world in a turbulent sea,
No longer a rhyme no longer a reason,
Love and honor masked with treason,
We rode the tides, through the ups and downs
Over the horizon we can never see.
The wind has died and the seas went flat
I can’t see anything clear,
The fog rolls in and I become damp with fear,
Homeport has disappeared.
Mist parts and moonlight shines down
Creating a new path fore to see,
Knowing not where it is to go,
The sails become full, life again I will lead
Sailing this world in a turbulent sea,
No longer a rhyme no longer a reason,
Love and honor masked with treason,
Now with a path, I see a hand reach from thee.
Together they meet from distant past,
Two ships lost at sea,
To each, a rope is cast.
A homeport awaits for them to see.

... I'm sure "SonBeam" is thrilled.
That is great, I have never thought of saying that before. yet it will be better coming from someone other than myself. So I told my buddy to call him that. Its funny because his personality is nice but he also has a grumpy side, so calling him SONBEAM is like call a really big guy tiny. LOLOLOL
but here is your sunbeam and his Brother SonBeam1

Although it has no effects loop, my Bugera V5 is an awesome amp. it will push a 4x12, it has an attenuator for .1 .3 and 5 watts. It only has a 8 inch speaker, but it really rocks! I have run everything in front of it with no problems. you can check out my youtube . look up scott sailer for the channel and go to my vids. you will see it.

I woke up today,
Rolled over to tell you hey,
And then I remember
you had pulled away.
So here I stand looking out the window,
And it's way past December,
everyone's lonely.
I just can't believe it's true
so many out there,
but they're not you.
Spent my time being reckless,
and thought I was fine.
Oh how was I to know
that I was really dying,
and that you,, gave up trying.
This love grows weary and sad,
There is nothing I can say
You wanted to leave so bad,
I just wake up ,,, it's another day..

Topic: Why Can't this be Love (0 replies, posted in Poems)
You tell me what I'm feeling can't be Love
You tell me I must be scared or in Lust.
Yet I feel it in my soul,
from the depths of that cold dark hole.
I am right, and this is true.
I keep trying to maintain,
yet certain nights I bust.
I wish there was a way to win you back,
leaving all the garbage behind and hold our heads high
yes life happened to us
and it's took its toll.
But here we are, Unashamed,
yet I know,
It will never be so.

I SIT HERE AND THINK “I SHOULD WRITE”
ALL I THINK, IS THE SAME OLD STUFF,
WHY DID I NOT KNOW ENOUGH WAS ENOUGH?
GET OFF THE MERRY-GO-ROUND
STOP BEING THE CLOWN.
ILL JUST REPEAT MYSELF WHEN I SAY
REGRET AND GUILT
CHOKE ME TO THE HILT
I HAVE TO FIND MY SMILE
AND NOW IT’S ALWAYS
ANOTHER MILE AFTER MILE.
MY HAPPIENESS IS IN MY OWN HANDS
INSTEAD OF CLAY, IT FEELS LIKE DRY SAND.
IM TOLD I CAN CHOOSE TO CHANGE MY PERSPECTIVE,
ARE YOU SHERLOCK THE DETECTIVE?
I AM NOT HAVING A GOOD DAY.
WHO WANTS TO PLUG IN,
AND JUST PLAY?
LETS CRANK UP THE VOLUME
AND BLAST THE BLUES AWAY!!!

Today I dressed in my shirt,
The shirt you had worn yesterday.
Lightly scented with the fragrance
Which is of you.
Last night I laid beside you,.
You stayed because you felt you needed to.
More for me than for you.
The feeling for me is no longer love.
I do not pray to the good above.
I only wish to regain your trust
If I leave the lust aside, I am still me,.
I was told, “it's not physical for me”
I think it is, more so than you like to see.
Otherwise, you would not have had
massage oil And a physical need..
All the sexy finery, went to Texas, not for me,
If it had been, it would have come to Washington
to sit and wait for your return.
Not used by another man before me.
The gold around your neck,
Hidden meaning from your heart,
Not for me, how do I begin to restart?
The chain around your neck, the marking on your wrist,
Feels like a noose that tightens
and begins to twist and I raise my head high,
I'll say I Love you as I look to the sky.
I doubt you will morn.
I will not however die.
I will be reborn.
I will look to the the new horizon
and reach for that new Prize
I set my eyes on

What's in a kiss?
All warm blooded animals do it.
Elephants to lions to our dogs and cats.
The expression of how we feel .
The kiss of death
The kiss of Friendship
The kiss of love
The last kiss goodbye
The conscious show of affection.
But what is conveyed within?
You never know. Is it love,
or is it sorrow?
Will it last a second?
Or stay for 100 tomorrow's?

Yep that pretty much covers it. Like TF, I don't try to force it. Most my writing is reactionary. In response to my mood. Mostly they are from anger or depressed emotions, but some come from something another song or what I am watching inspires .
