I never seen anybody get banned on chordie before. He had it coming. He can say Chordie should do this and Chordie shouldnt do that. The bottom line is, he's not the one who'll get sued. I still love this site

not many get banned but a few have. Most people respect the site and others but sadly you get the odd one or two that think they are above everyone and think they can say what they like. Well they can say what they like as long as they respect the rules. If they cannot respect a few simple rules after a warning then a ban is what happens.

I use my capo a lot too, even for songs I used to play open chords. I now think the guitar sounds better wit hthe capo on the 4th ( if I can get away wit hsinging a song from there)

And this has slightly went of topic a bit in a way.

I transpose a lot for singing instead of using the capo. sometimes I will tranpose and put a capo on, depending what the easiest chords are to play.
I used to transpose, use capo, or just not play a song when i saw a B chord or B7 but now I dont mind any chord.

well this is in USA, Canada, UK and Australia and other European countries so my rough guess is it is all over the world.

theres nothing wrong with different and certainly nothing wrong with original.
If you can play an instrument that has been modified and it sounds good then you are on a winner

It is always good to hear or see something different getting play

I am looking for the guitar songbook with chords, or guitar tablature sheet music for the 70's band Gypsy? They only recorded 4 albums. Thankx

Hi,
if you open another thread up with this question you might get a reply.
You have highjacked a thread here.

And Kaj,
I moved this thread in here from " about chordie" as some folk dont like to look at the sections to see where best to put their requests/questions/comments

when i change my strings I put the old ones in the pack that the news ones came out of. I think I might have about 10 packs lying around here.

Never thought of using them all again so a few ideas.

use them somehow in my garden strimmer or attach them to where the blade are on my flymo

could be used as snares for rabbits, but I dont like to kill them anymore but still the option is there.

I could boil them and see how shiny they turn out but not to put back on.

I could give them away to someone that cannot afford the few quid for new strings.

I could tie them all together and make a big trip wire and secure my garden. No one ever comes in it but ye never know!

I could keep saving the packs until I have a few tons and sell them as scrap metal.
hmmmm, no that really is a silly idea

What a total muppet!

Anyhow, this whole issue of copyright is like a car manufacturer pulling all repair manuals off the shelf to stop people actually making their own Ford!  Rediculous!

Keep up the good work Chordie!

and if they keep the manuals on the shelves, they have made a special shaped tool that only the dealers have so you waste your money on the manual and then having to take it to the specialist.

lol

ye jist canny win

ok i am just learning to play guitar i have got several chords down but i am having trouble with the strumming is there a place to go learn the art of stumming?? or do you have any suggestions.. i am using chords and lyric sheets

Jason,
your best chance of a reply to your question is to start a new thread for this question. What you have done is highjacked an already opened thread that has not got the title of " strumming patterns"

cheers

I can see it OK. Can you post a link to the song you cannot see it

Ken

hi vxn,

I am 39 from Scotland. Been playing guitar about 19 years maybe 20 or 21. I cannot really remember when i changed from bass guitar to guitar.
I am mostly self taught after a few pointers from a friend with a few chords to get me started.
And still to this day I am learning new stuff all the time.

lol

Hi Michael,
yep it is very quiet on this one.

I would have replied earlier but the first post I read when i was in work and could not reply, the next two I just missed and the third I saw just now while flicking through all the sections to see what i have missed.

My father in law retunes a lot of instruments different. i.e uke to banjo, banjo to madolin etc. not too sure what he does exactly, but he did retune his 4 string banjo to the same as a mandolin and it sounded great.

I think you could experiment in anything and retune anything you want but I would think you might need different stings as the uke strings are different, or swap the strings about?

hi mega,
you have just highjacked an old thread to ask this, please dont.

why would you want to remove a songbook just because it is full?
you can make another songbook up if one is full.
Also you can or should be able to delete the entire songbook wit hthe option that is there.

Ken

I use spotify and find it really good.
Some artists cannot be found. Metallica are not on it but there are other bands that do really good covers of them and even sound like them a bit.

Dont think i will use Ditto though.

Welcome to chordie

Ken

cheers Zurf.
I would not want to see monuments etc, trees and a campfire is fine with me.

And same back to you. If yer ever in Scotland I am not that far away from glasgow,Prestwick or Edinburgh airports, all within 50 miles so I can pick ye up.

Ken

make it next year and I might come lol. this is too short notice for me

I plan to take a trip over there next year for a few weeks.

ken

in my songbook I have "hey jude".
It now reads this when I click on it.

I have received a letter from someone claiming that this song violates their copyright. Until these issues are solved, I have chosen to block this song from being shown on Chordie.

Per has typed this in so there is obviously a problem wit ha few artists. If an artist or record company want chordie to take their work off then Chordie has no choice.

So looks like no beatles just now

Lieven,.
not just the USA, this is commonly used a lot in the UK as well.
It is a way of the speaker ( mostly unconciously) making sure you understand what they are saying.

I hear a lot of people saying this when talking and when i do I reply "no, I didnt" or "no, I dont know"

another one is when people are talking, especially europeans speaking english they say "ehhh" or "ummmm". Maybe they are trying to imitate an engine but really i tihn kit is they are trying to think of the word to say

wheeley,
what you have done here is highjacked a thread, a very old thread at that.
Please start a new thread for any future questions. And also there are certain sections you can post a question in that is more appropriate.

to answer you question which I am not too sure what you are asking so I will answer the two possibles.

You cannot single out songs played in dropped D if that is what you are asking

If you are asking for more Neil young then just look up Young, Neil and you will find more of his songs.

Also in chordie there is the option to transpose any songs that are in the chopro format ( the way chordie has them laid out with the blue chords above the lyrics)
look to the right hand side of any song and you will find the options.

cheers

Yep I remember the id..
If you and Ken record it we might well end up with two versions is that a Chordie first? smile
That would be interesting....
ark

eh no ark, sorry. Wouldnt be a first. I covered one of james songs before. Roger done a version as well as james' version. all were different.
It is fun to see what others do with just lyrics and chords. Different rythums and strum patterns and tempos really change a song.

Ken

Kajima,

My mate lived in a small flat a few years ago and just had a small 2 seater sofa which he sat on at the edge uncomfortable to play.
I leant him my tripod camping stool that eaisly folded away after use, he found it more comfortable to play on than having an aching bum and back.

Just a thought if you want to try that out, you can get them for just a few quid.

Scrimmy,
I just played this adding in a few D4 and Dsus2 and I love this song.

I think I might record this one and since I have my printer up and printing again I might print this one off and keep playing it til I tihnk the time is right to record.

cheers,
keep up the good writing
