The winner of this years Christmas songbook competition is:

James McCormick with this songbook: <a href="http&#58;&#47;&#47;www.chordie.com/publicbooks.php?show=details&songid=59661" target="_blank"> http://www.chordie.com/publicbooks.php? … s&song id=59661</a>

It has a lot of good songs, and the songbook is perfectly edited.

The close runner up was Tunedeaf's songbook:

<a href="http&#58;&#47;&#47;www.chordie.com/publicbooks.php?show=details&songid=59269" target="_blank"> http://www.chordie.com/publicbooks.php? … s&song id=59269</a>

This book had slightly better average score, but was just rated from just 1/3 of number of raters. Good editing/layout, but not quite as perfect as James'.

James receives a Chordie T-shirt. Tunedeaf also receives some Chordie effects.

Both of you will have to send your post address to <a href="mailto:admin&#64;chordie.com" target="_blank">admin&#64;chordie.com</a>

I am opening up to a very liberal right to correct songs. I am trusting the Chordie members to act as adults.

Please remember that all songs indexed by Chordie are contributions from fellow musicians. They are not official versions.

However there are some rules/limitations:

* The editing will NOT affect any song that are added to the songbooks prior to the editing

* All edited songs will have a link at the bottom, pointing to the "original/unedited" version of the song

* All songs can be easily reverted to their "unedited"-form

* All edited songs will be marked with "edited by USERNAME"

* It will be easy to report situations where the edited song are worse than the original. If this is verified, a typical reaction would be to revert all editing done by that person, close the account and (in case of sabotage) ban the domain from where this person is accessing Chordie.

I think this feature is best suited for making layout improvements. It is very easy to use this feature to fix up songs that the "automatic converter" have problems with.

Hope this clears up some of your questions, tunedeaf

I have not seen this happening myself, but I am primarily using Firefox for developing.

Do you also see this using the print-preview-feature.

Could you please send me the address to one of the songs where you are experiencing this problem?  Note that I need the address(url), not just artist and song since there are multiple versions of most songs in Chordie.

If I am able to reproduce the error, it is most likely easy to fix.

At the bottom of every song there is a button called "correct song". This will allow all users to make corrections directly to the songs. I hope this will improve the site.

Please contribute! Fix up your favorite songs!

You should of course not fix chords/lyrics unless you are 100% sure of what you are doing, but everybody can contribute by correcting layout issues.

I need the address to one page where you are experiencing this problem. Then I can start debugging it.

My server is experiencing problems right now. I am working very hard to fix it...

The last 12 hours, Chordie has been in total chaos...

What you are experiencing seems like to be a problem related to the stylesheet not loading correctly.

If you ever experience it again, please send an mail to <a href="mailto:admin&#64;chordie.com." target="_blank">admin&#64;chordie.com.</a> If we are lucky you are able to reproduce the error, and then we could start figuring out what is wrong.

There have been no change in the layout of Chordie.

You are experiencing a technical problem. I need more info to find out what is going wrong here. Please send me the url to the song where you are experiencing this problem.

OK. Lets give it a try.

I have opened a forum called "My local band".

Enjoy!

The main purpose for this forum is to get in contact with other musicians in your local area that wants to play together.

Note: New threads looking for peers should ALWAYS include localization info in the header.

WRONG HEADER: "Looking for band members for country band".

CORRECT HEADER: "Rock musicians in Amsterdam?"

CORRECT HEADER: "New York: Looking for band members for country band".

Lots of small updates and bugfixes today.

* Songs can again be added to the index

* Back button behavior in IE on artist page works logically

* New search result page

* It is now a lot easier to determine how "good" the song is before clicking on it.

* The songs rating is visible also from the search page

* Fixed bug causing mysql-error when changing songbook

* Better formatting of songs from guitaretabs

Thanks to everybody that has submitted requests and bug reports. I am spending much time on Chordie the next couple of weeks, so please report bugs and make suggestions!!

To my knowledge there isn't, but this is more an issue of how css/html works, than how Chordie works. Is it possible to solve your problem using screenshots?

You can take a screenshot by pressing ctrl-PrtScr, and paste it into Word by ctrl-v.

For some strange technical reasons it cant be from "everywhere", but I should be able to make a login-box from the forum. It is added to my todo list.

This should be fixed now. Please verify!

Great if you could include the address of these songs, as there are multiple versions of them on Chordie (just to make sure I am debugging the right songs).

IE 6 or 7?

Do you see the problem when you do a print preview?

(4 replies, posted in About Chordie)

If you know the address for one of the songs you were hiving problems with, please tell me. Ive gotten this error report from more people, but I am however unable to locate any of the problematic songs.

No, this should not happen. If anybody experiences this, please send me the url to the file. Most likely it is a very small bug that will be fixed a few minutes after I am getting a good bug-report..

I tried to log into your account, and everything looked normal. Are you still experiencing this problem? Or was it just for some specific songs?

Please post the address to a song where you are seeing this problem. Browser?

I understand what you mean. You can do it the other way around though... Transpose to the correct key, and then add it to your songbook for editing.

It is not logical though. I will change this, but it might take a few days.

Could you please post the url to the song where you are experiencing this problem? It is most likely a bug related to the new upgrade.

423

(5 replies, posted in About Chordie)

This is one of the largest upgrades ever in the history of Chordie. Hundreds of new artists, thousand of new songs. Especially a lot of material from newer artists.

Some other improvements as well:

* An irritating bug browsing by songname is now finally fixed. This is a lot easier now.

* A new way of detecting duplicates. It is very annoying finding lots of identical versions of the same song. Hopefully this is going to end now.

* New algorithm for calculating "most popular" -> better songs.

* Songs with very low rating is removed.

But, as always with new upgrades: There might be bugs. Please report anything strange you notice..

Shouldn't promise too much...

Had some problems with the new index, and it seems like it is going to take at least a few more hours.

If your friend finds a workaround, Ill be glad to implement it.

The typesetting of the chords is done in css only, and Opera usually follows the specifications. I am pretty sure it worked with earlier versions of Opera. The css has been updated several times lately, so it might have been broken accidentally.
