Your voice suits the lyrics, the laid back tempo makes me think of long summer days on holiday, and on this one i particularly like your tub thumper sat at the back. He's got this one off to perfection.
I feel very fortunate to have a good drummer and bass player they keep it nice and solid and make it easier for me yep this is a fun song to do thanks for giving a peek
Thanks BJ it is snowing here in Port Washington Wisconsin we only expect about 2 inches so it wont be too bad just have to think happy thoughts and it looks like only 4 to 5 weeks of winter left "yippee"
bluejeep wrote:That was fun, with all the snow up here on the mountain today, a little ray of sunshine is just what we needed.
We all needed something to take our minds off winter and this song takes me back to Maui Hawaii where I lived for several years Jimmy Buffet's "Margaritaville" fun song to play.

Hi TF yes it is a blast total freedom to interpret any song the way it feels we kind of look at songs as blueprints under construction. All our rehearsals start around 9:15am due to family time for the other guys we end around noon but I am tasked with all the editing of the videos which run usually 4 to 5 hours. the sound tracks have to be processed separate in my Ozone Advanced 7 program and added to the videos not to mention I have to dig up new background film for the green screen effects by dig up I actually shoot additional footage off the tv or any source I can find yes music is not a job it's an adventure thanks for taking a look and posting

I haven't commented on every one of your covers, but they're all very good renditions while showing respect to the originals. What's real obvious is that you guys are having a blast! I'm sure your practice / jam / recording sessions have become weekly highlights for you ... reward enough in itself.
Long live "Retro Buzz"!
Thank you dino regarding Rawhide we do it just aint got around to taping it but I will keep it in mind for a future taping
dino48 wrote:Good cover Russell. How about doing Rawhide like the blues bros did it.
KevinRK wrote:Russell - This was the best info I got. You see, I'm looking into getting a hollowbody or semi-hollowbody. One of the only ones I've found with 22 frets is the Epiphone Riviera. I'll do more research. It's an ongoing consideration. But the citing of string height may be the closest thing I'm going to find without "feeling" the action myself. I think some of the Ibanez guitars also have 22 frets, bit, for the most part, the rest have 20. I'm sure that Wes Montgomery, or BB King, or George Benson, or Joe Pass, didn't let 20 frets hold them back! Duh!! But since I couldn't begin to compare my abilities to any of those famed professional performers, I've got to figure that will fit into my limitations and still come off as "listenable", if you will. Thanks again, Russ!
Russell_Harding wrote:The only considerations I think are relevant is Intonation(the first) and string height over the frets, next would be tuners and how well the guitar stays close to relative pitch in the heat of battle if you have to stop to tune after each song or during a song you need to look at other tuners or change strings more often I change at least once a week sometimes twice depending on how much I practice or rehearse with the band.I do not think the number of frets limit your ability if the guitar is setup right.
You are very welcome good luck in your search hang out in a few music stores and try out a few before pulling the trigger
Thanks Kevin looking forward to a few festivals and definitely some rib fest (love dem ribs)
KevinRK wrote:Just watched and listened. Good work, guys. They'll dance at the rib-fests and other foot stompers!

The drummer suggested this hat it was more of a dare but what the heck I came up with the arrangement several years ago but never played it with a band
Baldguitardude wrote:Dig it man. Sweet hat!
Glad ya liked it and thanks!
Classical Guitar wrote:Great take on Eleanor Rigby. I really enjoyed listening to it.
What good is playing music if you cannot enjoy it a lot can be said for letting the creative juices flow it helps the brain (really)
keepitreal wrote:Well that's going to make people sit up and listen. Personally I was expecting something to come out of the backdrop and swallowing the drummer. If I were him I'd move to the front. Your having a lot of fun, and that's what its all about.
Zurf Thank you!! we do have fun that is the 1st rule of our song selections

My main squeezes
Gibson LP Kalamazoo MI.U.S.A.
2017 Fender Stratocaster Mexico ( got it new)
Modern players Telecaster China
Fender Squire Indonesia
Hohner electric acoustic China (fantastic tuners and tone)
3 Fender Strats made at home from parts all over the world
Each guitar has its own sound and playability the only thing they have in common is they all stay in tune and obey me.
The only considerations I think are relevant is Intonation(the first) and string height over the frets, next would be tuners and how well the guitar stays close to relative pitch in the heat of battle if you have to stop to tune after each song or during a song you need to look at other tuners or change strings more often I change at least once a week sometimes twice depending on how much I practice or rehearse with the band.I do not think the number of frets limit your ability if the guitar is setup right.
thanks this guitar only weighs a little over 4 pounds very fast neck I have hot coils and a Emerson wiring setup with paper and oil capacitors, very low action and the trem is solid and last the tuners are Fender locking quite a change from my Les Paul
TIGLJK wrote:I remember my grade school music teacher having us sing that song, but I don't recall her grabbing her guitar and slamming like those last two minutes! :
Nice job again fellas
Me too I just felt the need to cut loose so I gave my new strat build a workout thanks for giving a look and commenting
keepitreal wrote:As I sat listening i thought, a pleasant light hearted little tune. I wasn't ready for the second half, took me completely by surprise. Nice work.
Thanks dino it seems tough to come up with a name all the good ones have be taken you could spend hours throwing out suggestions
dino48 wrote:Sounding good Russell! Ilike your bands name!
It has been a few weeks since we got together to jam due to weather and other appointments but today we settled in and ran through at least 10 songs half were new to us and this was a spur of the moment kind of thing. The song has been used for Kit Kat commercials but not the way we do it and at the end my mind drifted into a nice groove and we put the pedal to the metal and kick it up hope ya give a listen and the band always welcomes comments https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMcG7s- … e=youtu.be
keepitreal wrote:I enjoyed very much your interpretation of this old classic. Also great video, and I also learned what a ditto looper is. I always enjoy your posts Russ, keep em coming.
Thanks for taking a look This song brings back memories of my days in Los Angeles I was hanging out in coffee houses and playing a lot of chess and on one of the nights the Chambers Brothers came in a sat down I played some guitar and we sang together they asked me to join them at the Troubadour Night club on Hootinanny night and we performed the song to a nice reception I did get to know them quite well and we stayed in touch shortly after they released the hit single "Time" and they were on there way to the big time after that we fell out of touch. but it was a magic time in LA
jerome.oneil wrote:I don't think the combined '85 Bears and '75 Steelers defenses could slow down Atlanta's offense. All the passing and a running game to match. And their defense is really good, too!
Julio Jones would kill you in man to man defense, Russ. He's too big to put a fast corner on, and too fast to put a big corner on. The only way to play him is in a zone where the safety can come and help.
Anyway, the Superbowl should be an offensive showcase, which should make it entertaining. I'm a fan of the other birds for the time being.
My prediction - Atlanta 42, New England 35.
you may be right but I still think there are a few guys out there who are as big and fast as he is maybe not in the present NFL but upcoming drafts and I agree it will be a darn good game and if Atlanta plays anywhere close to how they played the Packers New England is in for a tough day ahead.
I hope during the off season the Packers beef up there offensive and defensive lines and add some talent in the linebacking corp, oh yes and a couple of taller faster safety's you cannot compete in this league with a sick or ailing offense get some young bloods to back up the starters and trash the zone defense along with the defensive coordinator end of rant
The Packers defense is really hurting with all the injury's as is the offense the outcome was never a question, they need some taller faster cornerbacks for starters and a bigger defensive line they looked out of kilt and against Atlanta they got punished for it bad.

BEAUTIFUL PLAYING - AND THAT WAS A HEARTMOVING RENDITION AS THE NOSTALGIC STILL PHOTOS APPEARED THROUGHOUT THE VIDEO. I IMMENSELY ENJOYED THIS ! STIRRING EMOTIONS WITHOUT WORDS, WHEN YOU HAVE DONE THAT, YOU'VE DONE SOMETHING SPECIAL !
I was just having a conversation with my psychology class the other day about how when they walk down the street and see older people, they should remember that we were all young once. ( i.e. Graham's Cloak of Invisibility song)
I also loved seeing all your guitars - sweet collection. Do you still have your very first guitar ?
Anyway - this was a great way for me to begin Sunday morning at 5:30 am
NFL today - Go Steelers and Packers, although the left side of my brain is telling me the opposite is reality!
Thanks again so much for your musical reflection, it was awesome!
Jim
p.s. I have no clue what a ditto loop is !
Jim I am really at a loss for words and honestly surprised by your post I had no idea that what I was feeling at the moment translated emotions in others thank you! Interesting enough is the guitar I played is home made with the exception of the neck which was from my first guitar a SO1 strat made in China it is a beautiful rosewood neck with excellent tuners the pickups are hot Texas coils from Guitarfettish and even the wiring is special Emerson vintage pre wired strat setup with paper and oil capacitors. to answer your question yes I still play all my guitars only because I selected them for there unique sounds and each has something special to offer GO PACK! and thanks you made my morning a little brighter This is a Ditto very easy to use https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZCok4OYVOk
I was hanging out at home and due to the weather (ice) and other distractions we have not rehearsed in two weeks this song came to mind and I used my new Ditto looper to lay a chord progession and went from there and any time practicing is good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qwo_P55 … e=youtu.be
