On my birthday, come and remember me,
And drink single malt till you burst,
For me pour a large one upon this spot,
But don't filter it through your kidneys first.

HI Kayharley,

All the advise given is sound but there is one thing that I felt I should make clear, and that is to decide on what gauge strings you intend to use BEFORE you have your guitar set up and then stick to that gauge. Lighter guage strings put less stress on your guitar than heavier ones so if it is set up for say 12's and you put 10's on it you could then have have fret buzz.

I assume it is the new Guild you mention in a different thread so it will almost certainly need reworking to make the action sweet.

Take care,

Roger

Hi Jeff,

I tried to post this yesterday but my modem went on strike.

Jeff that is a wonderful recording, and although the music was not played by you this time, you now know how to do it for the next one. Overlaying tracks means that you can have more than one guitar/instrument playing and you are able to sing your own backing/harmonies. I was very impressed with the recording, not forgetting it was a pretty fine song too.

I hope you realise you have now set yourself a standard to keep up to in the future lol.

Thank you,

Roger

Hi Toney,

Like Rebel, I also thought that posting a song here on Chordie gave us copyright protection as the date and time it was uploaded can be proven. I see I shall have to be going to the Post Office tomorrow now.

Thanks,

Roger

Guitars twanging and Badeye singing

Eva Cassidy's versions of Judy Garland's "Over The Rainbow" and Sting's "Fields Of Barley" were, in my opinion, far better than the originals.

Hi James,

You are really getting into this recording lark now, well done. I had great fun playing along with your recording and I know I have said it before but the autoharp is an awsome sounding instrument.

Thank you for using my photograph alogside your song lol.

Hi Jeff,

Nice song, but your papers delivery people get it easy, riding by and throwing it on the lawn. In the UK it is delivered to the door and put in, or through the letterbox (great fun when there is a dog in the house that likes to grab the paper).

I should know my father had a village newsagent and from the age of 15 to 19 I delivered them come rain, hail, snow or storm. If my memory serves me correct the only days there were no paper were Christmas Day, Boxing Day and Good Friday.

Thank you,

Roger

Wonderful song Helena, and brilliant that the Childrens Choir is going to perform it. You must be very excited and proud. Don't forget to take a recording device when you go to hear them. Well done.

Thank you,

Hi Jeff,

Yes, you are on the right path that is obvious in every posting you have made. A lovely song and most of us at some time or other have asked ourselves these questions.

Thank you,

Hi Dennis,

Great song with a lovely chord sequence I really enjoyed playing it although I finger picked for the most part. I would love to hear a recording of you performing this one, so how about it?

Thank you,

Roger

Sensitive song Helena, well done.

As for the chords I found no problem except for the Emaj at the start of the chorus and found that Em suited the way I played it better, but this is always the difficulty when you do not know the intended melody. I look forward to a recording of it sometime, please.

Thank you,

Roger

Your wish is granted.

I contacted Per and there is a bug with using spaces in a user name so I had to give you an underscore.
