Two good songs Jan well done

Thanks, Grah1, its fun getting back into it again.  My biggest problem at the moment is getting the time to play and sing.

Stray Cat Strut  was incredibly well done.   Voice is great and instrumental part was excellent!   Perfect song choice.   I loved the " meow!"    you nailed it ! One of the best songs you have performed !

Yellow bird was well done as well.
Thanks for sharing.   Jim

Thanks Jim for your awesome feedback on both songs  smile  Stray Cats is a fun song to do and one I enjoy singing.

Jan I enjoyed both recordings. Stray cats was by a band called stray cats, coincidence?  Great rendition by the way. Yellow bird if I remember correctly was by MIcky and Griff?. The only part I thought was too high was the outro. I normally find that when I sing in the house I tend to restrict my voice so as not to cause neibours earache! Best way to record your voice is to stand up ànd forget the locals.

As for my recordings I play all the instruments myself, the horns are from the horn section on my keyboard. Thanks.

Thanks, Phill, for having a listen and the feedback.  I used to let rip a bit more with the vocals as the neighbors all worked, so it wasn't a problem.  However, these days, both my neighbors are home during the day, so I am a bit more aware of them being able to hear me, so I don't feel as free to sing loudly and openly as I used too lol

I totally agree with you Peatle,  TIG you are an amazing song writer, I really wish I had that ability!  I hope to get time to ATTEMPT to cover it for you, and I mean ATTEMPT ...... it's not always easy to cover someone original songs but listening to you, I get to hear the direction you want it to go.

Tig, another good song from you.  You and Jets seem to both be able to keep them flowing and make it look easy, which for most it's not.   Natural song writing talent, both of you.

Well done, Jets, you seem to have the ability to write about anything and everything easily, a natural talent.   Nicely done.  P.S., if you get the chance have a listen to my 2 entries for this month's FSOTM, cheers.

Thanks, neo appreciate the honest feedback, particularly in regard to Yellow Bird as I knew the chords were too high for me big_smile
As far as Stray Cats and the shaker.  I did it myself as I played, I don't have the technical know-how with multi-tracking, nor did I have anyone to help me, so using kiwi ingenuity I came up with the idea of tapping my foot on ...........

Cool, anymore Words you would like to suggest before this gets closed off?

These are my entries both about animals and one has banana tree in it.  Rushed both to try and get an entry in this month as I didn't get time to enter the last 2 months in December or January.  To be honest, Yellow Bird, I should have changed the chords as a bit high for me.

Good performance Grah1, your vocals sound fine to me.

Peatle, thats a good bit of writing there, really good.  "The agnostic on the roof.  Water rising, he calls to God."  So true, when tough scary life-threatening things happen, everyone calls out to God.  Interesting information to Peatle on the name Gabrielle.
It's been pretty serious here, particularly up Napier, Wairoa and Gisborne area`s.  Also, further up north Whitianga way.  Quite a lot of people and animals have died and more to be expected once they are found.   Sadly, many are still buried in the mud, and they are finding people in buried cars etc.  Sadly, there has been looting taking place there and many without power etc.  Locals are complaining of not enough help being sent in by the Govt.
I went to listen to your musical version of your poem, but you have taken it down already, so I missed it sad

This one is a cover of a Greek song I did with The Cretan band Everdie it's called asimina sfika which means silver wasp .I hope this counts as an animal I'm on guitar ,the vids a bit dark but it was filmed in the rehearsal room and we'd had a few talks at this point. Enjoy https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=XpP_DGa3oLY

Grah1, lol well I think a wasp is an insect but it`s a living creature, it moves and since you decided to join in this month, we will let it in lol big_smile   Yep it was a bit dark in the video, so hard to see the performers but then I guess some bands do that anyway when they perform don't they.  I found it a bit hard to hear the lyrics in places if I am honest with you, but maybe it's just my hearing, it would be interesting to hear what others on here thought about that.  The music was good, you all played well.

That sounds pretty good, was very impressed with the way it sounded!

All sorts of animals in this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhtA7e34wBY - yes, I used it in another FSoTM (just trying to get this thread more active!)

Cheers

Richard

That was a very appropriate song for this month neo, had lots of animals in it, so good choice of song.  Hey nice bit of reverb on this one by the sounds.  Looks like you perform at that place quite a lot.

mojo ok thanks, I wondered what CMT meant, now I know, cheers.

Jan, by adding an account; Jan1 and Jan2 you can keep both accounts going, just make sure you put the right link in when you offer your many fans to have a listen. I think there are some other sites similar to SoundCloud and YouTube I haven't bothered for so long I can't help with their address. Do a little search and let us know. I wonder if Per would or could create a music hosting site?

l Phill I wish "my many fans" lol, the key word being the "few" lol big_smile    One that easybeat told me about was Reverbnation which he said apparently is quite good and does a similar thing to Soundcloud, doesn't charge and offers other options too, so I might check that out.  Re: Per, maybe a suggestion you could put forward to him in the moderators chat.

Thats brilliant writing again TIGLJK, you nailed it with the aardvark in your song, awesome big_smile   Made me smile big time.  Also, because it has so many animals in your song, can you also enter it into this month's FSOTM for February as it fits into that category as well and someone may want to try and cover it this month.  Remember this is only the Suggestion section smile

Phill that's a clever piece of writing too, I totally missed the aardvark word in it when I read it the first time, think it was late at night when I read it.  And now I get where the word aardvark originated from in here, you lol big_smile

Phill, now there's an idea for Chordie, its own recording web page.  Might bring a lot more musicians here too.  Hey that's a good idea, to delete some of the songs off my page.  I didn't realize I could do that and then add more.   Cheers for that, will look into it.

neophytte, yes, I did think of doing something along that line, a second account.  But then I thought of the very few followers I have on there already that I would lose and then I will have no followers or listeners.

mojo, ok cheers, you do the same as Phill re: deleting older ones or ones you don't like that much.  I think that's a good idea and will probably do that.  Yes, I know what you mean re: what we think might be our best and others don't think so lol, totally get that big_smile  Showing my ignorance here but what is CMT?

That's a clever poem, well written.

Well, that was a surprise neo, I wasn`t thinking of Ships for vehicles when I suggested vehicles lol but your right, I guess it is a type of vehicle big_smile Thats a song that I like too.   In the original version the guitar work in it is awesome, and I never could find a link anywhere to learn play it like the original.  Well done, you played it well and much slower than my version of it.  I played it fairly fast to make it a bit different as I couldn't match Neils guitar skills or even try to copy him.

Excellent, keep them coming smile

Aardvark as in the animal a bit like an ant eater?   That word is a great challenge, TIGLJK you got your work cut out for you big_smile

Hi everyone, just a simple question.   Where do you find the best place to put your recordings?  As most of you know I use Soundcloud and have been quite happy with it.  However now I have used up all the free uploading on it and from now on will have to pay.  Looking into it briefly today, it works out about $18 NZ dollars per month to use.  The total per year $108 but looking further into it, for NZ it says $168 per year.  I guess if your uploading music, songs a lot per month that is quite reasonable.  But for me, only roughly 1 song per month and not even always that, I was wondering if it's worth it.
I notice some people use You Tube, but not sure I can be bothered with filming myself recording.  I did try it once a few years ago on You Tube videoing myself recording but not sure about it.  I also notice some people use You Tube to record their songs with just sound only, haven't tried that option yet.
I do like simple and easy, I really can't be bothered with technical stuff, haven't got the patient for it and honestly not that interested in the technical stuff.  (Wouldn't it be great to have our own soundman technicians to do all that stuff for us) lol big_smile

For MARCH looking for SUGGESTIONS from YOU the MEMBERS for WORDS for SONGS for us to COVER or to write ORIGINALS for.

You can put any and as many WORD SUGGESTIONS down as you want, (just make sure to keep it clean, so no rude or swear words.  Remember it is family orientated here) big_smile

Look forward to reading what you all SUGGEST.

READY ... SET ... GO!!!

This FEBRUARY, looking for any SONGS to do with FRUIT, ANIMALS or VEHICLES

So, for example, it could be about Oranges, Lemons, Apples, Berries, Banana`s for FRUIT, it could be a song about a Zebra, Lion, Monkey, Cat, Dog for an ANIMAL, or it could be for example a song about a Ford, Chevrolet, Holden, VW, Dodge for a VEHICLE.

One Suggestion was made by neophytte for this month if anyone would like to try and cover it was STRAWBERRY Fields Forever by the Beatles.

Any COVERS or ORIGINALS are acceptable.

Look forward to what you come up with big_smile

READY ... SET ... GO!!!

I haven't had a chance to enter any songs this month, with holiday season here for us, I have been away too much to record anything.  I might re-do this month's words during the course of the year as I had a few songs lined up to do that I just didn't get time to do.   Anyway, onto next month's FSOTM.
