On a happy note, Helena's son recently got married. On a sad note, Old Doll's brother is ill.  She and her family are tending to him. I received an e-mail from her a few days ago. She says she misses all of the fine Chordians and will return soon.

Don't have any information on James. Roger is around and it sounds like he's doing quite well ( new gal!)

Hi Ken,
Just your basic granulated sugar. It's best if it goes on last because the sugar melts down and mixes in nicely with the cinnamon.

SouthPaw41L's world famous Cinnamon Toast;

Pre-heat oven to max broil temp.( I just turn the oven on and when my food prep is done the oven's usually hot enough)

6 slices of bread covered thinly with butter
Generously dust each piece of bread with powdered cinnamon
Add 1/2 teaspoon of sugar per each piece of bread
Finely mince 2 fresh mint leaves and add evenly to each piece of bread

Place in hot,hot oven for 2 minutes and 22 seconds. ( I use the timer on the microwave, that's why I do the 2:22 thing)
My kids absolutely love this creation. My Mother( the coolest lady in planet cool) used to make this at least once a week.

I like the sound of badeyes beanza's cape brenton pizza. What kind of beans do you use? Do you drain and/or rinse them off?

We're off for breakfast at The Cracker Barrell per request of my wife.

You folks have a wonderful day,

Toney - Whats popular on your pool side afternoon gigs?

Hi Jeff,

That's a tough question to answer accurately, but I'll give it a shot....

Buffett is sometimes really good but other times it invokes mental internal vomit. Too much of a good thing is sometimes not good.

Bob Marley is almost always good unless "that guy" is there buzz-killing all within his earshot because the musician " doesn't sound anything like the record."

Pretty much any tune that is up-beat and mentions sunshine, the ocean, fishing, boating, dancing( horizontal or vertical), chuggin' down booze, or checkin' out babes, will be a hit.

Jack Johnson, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Led Zeppelin, Ben Harper, Green Day, Neil Young,Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, and Johnny Cash seem to have consistent crossover appeal to multi-aged demographics.

My best advice to you would be this; be prepared with a big ole fat songbook filled with songs that you absolutely love to play. Introduce yourself and ask the folks listening to you what they would like to hear. Get 4 or 5 suggestions, play those tunes, then do it again, and again, and again............Oh yeah, and make sure your TIP JAR is located in a good spot. ( right in front of you,very colorful, at least 2' off of the ground)

Tear it up........

Hi Greg,

A few things here. First off ,as you move the capo from fret 1 to fret 3, for example, you are going UP the neck. Think of it in terms of pitch. As the notes get higher we ascend, or move up the fretboard.

In terms of intergrity within a song, there are no rules or standards in which integrity applies, unless one is lip syncing or using pre-recorded music( haha) The pre-recorded music is just a major pet peeve of mine. Some people are OK with it, I for one find it totally despicable.

Seriously though Greg, find a key and chordal progression that you're comfortable with and go with it. I've found that higher UP on the fretboard I place my capo, the more issues I have with proper tuning. Like Wayne(previous post), who gave some great advice in his post, I rarely capo above the 5th fret.

Another advantage of using a capo is that this extends the life of your frets. Before I started using a capo regularly in my daily gigs/practicing I would get 4-6 months out of my main guitar before the frets became in dire need of replacing. With regular use of a capo I'll get 12-15 months of playing before  it's time to replace my worn down frets.

Anyways, feel free to post here anytime with questions, comments, or anything you find amusing. We're a good bunch of people here( mostly) and are eager to answer any question or give some friendly advice to the best of our abilities.

Tim is playing electric on this tour. His main guitar is a black strat w/ white pick guard. He also plays a sweet honey sunburst LesPaul and a big, bad, white and red Gibson V Factor flying V. I always enjoyed his acoustic shredding but holy pig snot! The dude can paaaa-layyyyy!!!!

Anyone catch this concert last night? It was on fuse TV broadcast live and commercial free( thanks to Kia) from the Beacon Theatre in New York. Tim Reynolds played guitar, Rashawn "BigBig" Ross played trumpet and sang background vocals, Jeff Coffin of Bela Fleck fame played sax and flute, Boyd Tinsley played electric violin, Stefan Lessard played bass, and Carter Beauford played drums. Coffin replaced LeRoi Moore, the bands' original sax man, who died in August of 2008 from complications of an ATV accident. They gave a heartwarming tribute to Moore mid-way through the show.

   This band played 2 1/2 hours straight! They are so incredibly tight and talented. I was blown away! I've seen Dave Matthews Band previously but this line-up is the bomb! The dudes are all top-notch musicians.

  I highly recommend to all of you folks out there, be you a Dave Matthews Band fan or not, to check out this upcoming tour. These gentlemen have been putting their work in and it shines ever so brightly.

ps-Lessard and Beauford are as fine a rhythm section in the music biz today!!!! A-freakin'-mazing!

Wow, thanks for the kind words TonyBlue.

The cool think about looping is that it can be used in so many different ways.
One can do a little or a lot. You can loop a rhythm guitar part and then play lead over it. You can add drums, bass guitar, backing vocals, keyboards, and then sing the lead vocals over everything looping.

   Looping enables a performer to create a song starting with nothing and finishing with a minimal piece of music or an orchestrial type arrangement. It does however take some getting used to. Learning to loop effectively and efficiently is essentially like learning a new instrument. It will take lots of practice. It took me several months of trial and error at home before I became confortable enough with looping to incorporate it into my live gigs. Here are a few links that demonstrate its' use;

I've never been one to sport a sticker on my vehicle. I find them to be a tool of expression for the sociological overbearing. A silent shout of " hey, hey, look at me!", if you will. I do however get a chuckle from 'em from time to time. Here are a few that have stuck with me;

-WWJD( Who Wants Jelly Donuts?)

-I am the English Teacher about whom your mother warned you...

-I'm 33 1/3 RPM in an iPod world....

-National Spellling Be Runer-Up.......

-What Would Scooby Do?

-On Your mark, get set, GO AWAY!!!

-If you were born again would you have 2 bellybuttons?

-Rap is to music as Etch-A-Sketch is to art.....

-My wife keeps complaining I never listen to her ( or something like that)

and my personal favorite;

-YOUR STUPID.

So what'd you play?

Moooooooove It On Over, Cheeseburger in Paradise, sorry 'bout that......

For once we agree on something. (holy %&*#)!!!

This is pretty clear cut. If there is an issue  with the policy it's above my head. Please read;

"Chordie does not host songs. It is a search engine that formats songs it finds on the internet. There are several reasons for this (most of them legal).

Please read FAQs on chordie's 'Resources' page for a longer explanation.

This also means that NO LYRICS can be posted in this forum.

You are however allowed to post links to songs on the internet, and you are allowed to post one-liners explaining how to play a song.

Any posting of lyrics may result in Chordie having to shut down! I will therefore automatically delete the account (and the songbook) of persons violating this rule, as well as ban their domain from accessing Chordie.

Please report any violation of this rule immediately!"

I guess I'm missing this one too. Maybe I should pay more attention to the content here on Chordie. Surely All1Song isn't using Chordie as a spamming tool to promote himself .?.......

And then there are the sagacious words of David Lee and the boys;

"I like the way the line runs up the back of the stockings.
I've always liked those kind of high heels too. You know, I...
No no no no, don't take 'em off, don't take... Leave 'em on, leave 'em on.
Yeah, that's it, a little more to the right, a little more....  "

These fine words have stuck with me throughout all that adult life has had to offer. I feel young, body and mind, everytime I listen to some old 'Halen.....

Do you have this item?
All I want to be able to plug in my Boss with the backing trcks (like a MP3 player). Plug in my guitar and also plug my mic in as well, and then play the lot of them through my amp, ans have control of all the volume levels.
Wolud this unit be able to do this ?
If so you have solved my problem and at avery good price, but regardless I really thank you for the information
Regards TonyBlue

This one should work for you, if not Behringer( and many other brands as well) has a step up from this this particular model that has 2 or more extra inputs with better individual control over each input source. I don't know exactly what to recommend without personally seeing your set-up. But keep this in mind, it's almost always better to have an extra channel and not need it than to need an extra channel and not have it....

***A-hem,(knock,knock)A-hhhhemmm!!!***

Thank you........

First off, let's not fool ourselves here. Chordie is a great way to learn new tunes without having to spend hordes of money of songbooks and/or sheet music. Thanks a ton for this fantastic tool for the financially challenged. I mostly always buy CD's from the artists( that I like) who make their musical offerings available on the net. Those who don't , I personally choose to avoid their product(and all associated with said product). But hey!, that's just me and to each their own............

Secondly, Chordie is the first (and only) forum in cyber land that I've personally participated in. I figured with all of the valuable information I've  gained from Chordie ( new tunes,etc... ) I needed to give a little something back. I've been a full-time musician for most of my adult life and I'm happy to pass on some of the knowledge I've gained throughout my musical adventures. I've also consumed tons of wonderful information from my fellow musicians out there in Chordie land who stand, or have stood in my shoes, and know the tremendous pleasure and pain that playing music for a living dishes out. So to all of you wonderful human beings, I say "thank you" with sincere heartfelt thanks and appreciation. And to those of you whom I've clashed with in the past I say " thank you" to you as well. Artists are infamous for being oversensitive and easily offended, so I forgive all of you out there who have offended me or argued with my unique modus operandi. (haha, that means I'm just joking, relax y'all).

And finally, in grand conclusion, Chordie is just flat out cool as hail. The friendships I've made on this one-of-a-kind site exceed verbal or written description. Do you folks all realize how cool and special you are? I do. A wise man once said, "music is the universal language". What better proof of the validity of this statement is there than Chordie. Thanks Per, no matter what  becomes of this juggernaut of all musical web-sites, I'll always think of Chordie as the best of all-time...........

I hope that someone can help me.
At the moment I play small gigs using an eletric guitar playing through a Boss micro recorder in to a small amp, I pre-record a backing track, bass and rythem guitars which I play over. I sing without any amp.
The problem I am starting to have is that it is becoming to be quite popular and the rooms are getting bigger, so now I really need to amp up my voice, but I have no inputs left.
I have been told that I need a PA system, but as I only get paid £20 - £30 a gig I don't have the money to spend on more equipment.
Anyone know of another way around this ?, or do I need a PA
Thanks TonyBlue

Tony,
This would be the simplest, quickest fix;
http://www.music123.com/Behringer-Xenyx … 8.Music123

It's an unpowered mixer with a high and low z input. Each channel has volume control so you'll be able to control the input to your amp.

Hi Norm,

I've been a Boss user for many years and in my opinion there is no finer looping pedal in the universe. Boss make 3 loop pedals, the RC50, 20, and 2. The 2 is fine unless you need more than 1 input. I have the 20 and use one input for my guitar and the other input for a knee level microphone to record various percussion instruments( djembe, cabasa, casaba, shakers, cowbell, thunder tube, goats toes, triangle, train whistle, slide whistle, etc). And be advised, looping is almost like learning a new instrument. It's gonna take some time to get the hang of it and get it to do what's inside of your head. But once you get the timing down it's a very cool thing!!!

       Also, keep in mind even with the RC2 with one input, you could invest in an inexpensive, non-powered mixer and run your multiple input sources before your loop pedal. ( if needed)

    The looping thing is cool and gives the performer variation from song to song without resorting to performing live with pre-recorded music, which many( this musician especially) find very lame and cheesey. Although this pedal comes equipped with pre-recorded drums it also comes with a seperate volume switch( that controls fake drums) to totally turn the fake drums all the way down. No offense intended to those of you out there who like pre-recorded music and/or fake drums........
