get her interested in playing too!  LOL!  Or.... give her a couple hundred dollars to spend on whatever she'd like!!

Oh Doc... I just had a very odd thought.  If you are really addicted to the guitar ... perhaps you could keep yourself busy.  Whilst you let your fretting hand rest ... try flipping that guitar over and teach yourself a few opposite handed chords (anywhere around you could rent a lefty guitar for a few weeks?).  I know, it's not the same... but maybe it will allow you to get your addictions out while you rest that fretting hand for a bit (and visit the specialist and eat chocolate!).  I think that I'm addicted enough that I would try it!  Of course, I'm assuming your right handed... if you're already left handed it'll be pretty easy to find a right handed guitar to rent for a couple weeks.  Just a thought!

Lil' ChiChi is ADOREABLE!  She is posing for the picture!  ha ha!

Well... turns out that the fear aggression in this pooch is just too much for my kiddos.  I've had to make the executive decision to not keep her as she started barking, growling and snapped a bit at my 4 yr old (who did nothing but walk towards us slowly while the pooch was sitting with me).  She stopped immediatly when I gently corrected her... but still.  Sooo... I'm looking for a good home for her.  I've had a lot of people say they'd like to take her, but alas, she's not going to just anyone!  If I thought taking her in was a chore, finding someone that will be a good fit with her is going to be harder I think.

Here she is... beautiful girl!  OMG... we had a HUGE bonding moment today... I think she may possibly be starting to trust me a little bit!  YAY!  With that hint of trust, she has given me the desire to keep going with her.  My son will be so thrilled when he gets home.  So far, I'm only letting her eat if she takes it from me (or the kids - no food set in a bowl) to help build up that trust and association with the people here being something good.  She tried really hard to please me and sit, so I think she knows that one a little.  Lay down was trickier for her... but she did well trying!

Ozmoid... I've read about clicker training being really great for submissive dogs so I'm looking up info about it now to see what I can do for her!  A trip to the doggie store may be in order tonight.

Interesting how this just came up on here and now I'm faced with an issue.  My son "had" a white shepherd at his father's house.  The poor pooch is only 6 months old... but has not been socialized at all.  He begged me to bring her home cuz she is just tied outside or kept in a room blocked off from everything else at Dad's house.  So here I am, with this "big" baby that is scared to death of everything and everyone (except my son).  She actually is scared to death of my 2 year old.  I'm hoping she warms up soon... but I'm starting to think maybe a nice house in the country with other dogs to play with and no children would be the best place for her.  I just brought her home last night... so I haven't given her much time... but I'm a bit concerned that she might fear bite someone, and I sure don't want that to be a little person!  Any suggestions, comments, thoughts?

I also posted the link on my facebook page as I wanted to share with some of my other friends.  Others have truly enjoyed this ride and your beautiful song!

Apples are in season right now in NY State - I've made 4 pies, 1 mini-pie, 24 muffins, 10 servings of applesauce and an apple crisp... all from a little less than a bushel of apples... of course, everyone has been munching on the apples as well, and I still have apples left.  I'd try your recipe Old Doll but for some reason I think my hubby would be scared of cooked apples in his dinner.  It does sound lovely to me however!

I agree completely!  Seek a specialist to make sure you're taking the right steps... and so you don't injure yourself worse!  As for the chocolate... I like that suggestion a LOT!  I'm sure it will only help, and make sure you get enough to send me and Zurf some so we can feel good too!

I feel for you!  I've had to limit my computer activities (typing especially) due to the beginnings of carpel tunnel ... Mayo Clinic says this about "recovery" from Golfer's elbow:  http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/golfer … -and-drugs

rest... ice ... learn stretches... take some pain meds... set the guitar down for a little while... and then ease back into it for short times and don't overdo it.  I don't know for sure, but I think my father had something similar going on ... I know he ended up with surgery to ligments in his elbow and is now considering going to nylon strings (from steel) to make an attempt at playing a little more again.  His whole hand will "freeze" up if he plays much at all.

I hope you can manage to get the rest your arm/hand needs so you don't end up with surgery!  Best wishes!

We rescued Cali from the shelter on Valentine's Day after my pooch Scooter went missing.

When I married my husband, he came with Dozer... getting on in age now, he's about to turn 13.  He is a "pit bull" ... which would not have been my choice in a pet, however he's always been very gentle with the kids and really a pleasure to have around.  It is all in how they are raised.  He's a good ole boy!

Wayne... A Mini Schnauzer is my choice for our next pup when Dozer finally makes his way on.  I had a black one as a child, and raised properly they sure can be the best dog!  I've also considered labs... but...  I think we need a smaller dog around here.

We also have a 30 gallon tank full of guppies that just continue to multiply!  LOL!

Patrick - we had some Chickens for a while too... nothing like "homemade" eggs!! smile

VERY very nice tune.  I enjoyed the ride too... never been on a bike but it was nice!

very nice... reminds me of a time I was wondering out in the woods and came upon a big ole buck with several does... all I could think of was what he could be saying as he stared me down, what thoughts went thru HIS head that day as he came across a woman wandering thru HIS woods!  Nature is beautiful and powerful and I think you captured it well here with the Indian Man!!

The Avett Brother's music is soooo... wow... hearfelt, non-traditional... like a poem turned into a song rather than a song written just for the purpose of being a song.  BEAUTIFUL!  Thank you Old Doll!  Middler's Rose is SUCH a powerful song!  I don't have anyone that I associate it with really, but it still gets me teary when I sing it.

That spa does look very nice indeed... enjoy that relaxation!

Thank you StranSongs.  Sure enough... I played Arkady's song last night (with a B7 cuz I'm not ready for a Bm) and it was in fact very beautiful!  And then... I started tinkering with the words to my "ode" changing it here and there.  It was so strange how the chords and the words just started coming together.  When I get some time today I'll be re-writing and putting my little "song" on paper and see if I can actually make something out of it.  You're right... I can't stop now!!  LOL!

Thank you guys!  Arkady... you had me all teared up, that's beautiful!  I'm going to give a go at your song and see what harmony those chords bring to my voice!

Jokergtar, I am actually a singer first and foremost.  I just picked up the guitar a month ago and it's going rather well.  Like having never actually tried to write poems or even possible lyrics before, I've also never made an attempt to be in a band.  Although, I've had lots of opportunities present themselves if only I'd taken them.

Phil... I guess it technically wouldn't be a poem since it doesn't have any proper literary points to it (did I say that right?).  LOL!  Ahhh... I guess I have written poems before, in high school, since I do remember that there are a few rules to proper poetic writing!  ha ha!  Well... I did just pull that poem (or ode as it may be) out of my butt in a matter of about 15 minutes, so maybe I'll try again with a bit more effort next time.  It served my purpose tho for self therapy!  wink THANK YOU for the welcome to the poem section of Chrodie!!

Ok - I really don't claim to be much of a poet, but I've had a lot of pieces pop in and out of my head over the years.  I was having a particularly strange day today so I thought maybe I should share something (a little self therapy perhaps).

The tears of six years
fall down upon my pillow.
My pain and my heartache
reaches out to grasp you.
Nothing to touch.
Nothing to hold.
One by one realized,
all brought to light,
each and every fear.

The tears of six years
fall down upon my pillow.
I yearn to feel you
moving inside me.
Each heartbeat.
Each nudge.
Why couldn't I see,
your soul through your eyes?
I long to hold you near.

The tears of six years
fall down upon my pillow.
There is an empty space.
Now, only here you will stay;
in my heart,
in my head,
you will always live!
Alone through the valley,
someday I'll join you there.

I wrote this with the intention of it not being overly obvious.  You might think this is about love or death between a man and woman, however it is in memory of Courtney Jean stillborn 8/21/03.  I'd like to know what your thoughts were before and after you read this part!  Thanks!  (if I should not write anymore, please TELL ME!  ha ha... I don't want to be one of "those people")

I believe the chord chart you were talking of on Slow Rolling Low  may be wrong or maybe one of our experts can help up out and explain why it is posted 032010 and called a C/G   I would play it 332010

that makes more sense to me.  The explanation that you posted was what I was thinking except that I knew the open 6th string was an E!  LOL!  I laugh, cuz I really don't know what notes I'm playing when I play a chord (yet... although I can guess as I know a bit about music from my sight singing years) but I do know what the open strings are (thank GOD there's only 6!)  So yeah, if anyone can chime in and let us know if that chord chart is wrong or if there's something that's missing in the explanation that'd be great!  Might have to ask this somewhere else tho as it's off topic here.

But... while we're on it... so when you play a "slash chord" do you always pluck out that bass note?  You wouldn't actually strum the whole thing as a chord right (cuz then it would actually be a different chord?)???  I'm assuming a "slash chord" will always mean pluck this different bass note (denoted after the slash) then strum the chord (before the slash).  Or is this something that's also left up to one's interpretation?

I'm excited to hear your Bojangles!  I'll look forward to seeing it in my subscriptions!!

Old Doll... if you ever get to the middle of NY in the States... look me up!  I'd happily give ya a free makeover... it'd be a treat, but only if you bring your guitar (ahhh... so it would not really be free, but we sure would have a grand time!) smile

Curious, how did you find Jason Damato?  That boy has some talent indeed.  Very catchy tune!

"Killing me Softly with His Song" is being added to my little list of songs... it has 2 new chords for me... the "dreaded chords"  for newbies LOL!  Nothing too exciting to the veterans, but I'm excited that a little over a month in and I'm working on a song with "so much" going on and a slew of chords (not just three)... and I know them!  LOL!

Wlbaye - on that Slow Rollin Low, what does the chord C/G mean?  I've seen that before and am confused.  It looks like a C chord on the chart with the 6th string open... why is it called a C/G?  I really need to learn music theory, I'm guessing the answer is in the notes that are being played with that open string.  Thanks!

Fun with music... these guys ALWAYS put on an entertaining show!  I'm thinking they were on Hee Haw once, but that seems like an odd fit... of course, Hee Haw was always odd (and fun)!
