yep!  Well... maybe a video, maybe just the music... either way I don't have much that's decent to record on here for video or audio quality, but something yes.  Follow along on the song thread posted earlier!

Thanks!

Thank you all very much.  I feel darn special knowing that my little song has been not only looked at, but attempted to be played as well!  I hope the laryngitis goes away soon because I've been working on this every day and am adjusting some of the notes in the melody as I go... but it's difficult with no voice!  LOL!  I will record it when I feel it's just right... just as I didn't put the chords up until I knew that I wasn't going to change them any more.  wink

Old Doll... I've strummed it, picked it, and then some.  I can't quite decide which feel I want for it - it has a touch of happiness, yet that sadness that pulls thru as well.  Maybe a combo of strumming and a few notes picked out here and there.  But then, I'm hoping the voice can do what's missing.  I have a tricky time keeping my rhythm on the guitar while singing from my heart.  I'm still darn new to the guitar!  Audacity here I come!

As for the printing goes... hmmm... my printer is out of ink, but I never had a problem printing anything before.  Of course, I didn't print from the forum, only from the song books.  Sounds like it could be a problem on your end with printer settings.  Um... only other thing I can think of is that I can go in and edit this post and re-paste it for you without all the extra formatting ... it would then have the chords directly before the word instead of above the words.  Of course, this wouldn't help with anything else on Chordie just my song.

Thanks Old Doll!  I actually had read that one before... but it didn't stop me from reading the ENTIRE thing again!  It IS a good one for sure!  It's just the kind of thing my husband would do.  Although I have to admit, he would have tried it on the cat first.

As for manuka honey... I first heard about that a few years ago as there is a facial product line that has it as a main ingredient in a mask.  Yep, manuka mask.  It feels lovely on your face (warm) and the skin feels fantastic after!  It's also $100 (retail price) for a small jar!  Soooo... while I don't have any, I am enjoying some hot tea with regular old honey in it to try to scare away the laryngitis monster and find my voice again!

Thanks again for the laugh!  It brightened my morning!

LOL!  Ok, well my head is a little fuzzy right now with a cold... but I think I meant it the way I said it.  He wasn't clear in what his problem was (wasn't direct to the point - didn't ask clearly) and so only a woman who thinks and talks in unclear terms could comprehend.   Men handle direct questions and answers better.

I know that it drives men batty that we "talk in circles" ... so I'm pleased to have proven myself useful with my "circle thoughts" ... ... it's ok if you aren't following cuz I make no sense to you smile  Men don't always make sense to me.  We have other things in this world that keep us all connected!  ha ha!

I know the feeling!  I just came down with laryngitis yesterday (after taking care of sick kids and a sick husband all last week) and my head has been in a fog all day.  Although I feel cruddy... the "whooo" in my head is reminiscent of the "good ole days" ... and yeah, that night time cold medicine is good stuff!  LOL!

Zurf... let the leak be and stay out of the rain for a bit.  Ahhh... I hope you feel better soon.  A cold that turns into pnemonia is just being sick for WAY too long... chicken soup and rest!

Hope everyone feels better soon... thank god I can say we at least aren't spreading this around here on chordie (or are we?)

It was dificult to explain my problem, but you solved it

That's why the answer had to come from a woman.  You didn't provide a straight direct question, and therefore only a woman could follow along!  ha ha!  Our talking and thinking in circles finally has a use and is now proven to not be for the sole purpose of frustrating men! ha ha ha!  wink

Glad I could help!

I'm not sure how you download them into your Ipod and all (don't have one) ... but you can VIEW the chordpro format on the website.  Open up the song on the right of the screen, 4th box down (under size) there's a "chopro" pic next to print.  Click on that and it will bring the song up in the chordpro format.

Hope that helps lead you to an answer... good luck!

buvvy... wish I was closer to ya... I'd love to have someone to write me songs to sing!  wink  Keep on keepin on!  I'll try to play this one when the kiddos take a nap (tho right now I can't do any singing as the laryngitis monster took my voice away)

ok... well I have indeed put it to music - and of course changed it a bit to allow so.  I came down with laryngitis, so I figured I might as well post the music since I can't work on the singing portion of it much more for a little bit.  God willing this laryngitis goes away soon... I have a difficult time going thru an entire day without being able to sing anything!  LOL!

Edited... there was an error in the chords on the last verse, they were supposed to be the same as each previous verse.
Another edit... link to the song recorded around 10/29/09:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnp9t2o02lk
And another version recorded: 8/11/10:  http://soundclick.com/share?songid=9513804

To all of the above all I can say is WOW!  I can't believe that this DA is being such a (insert word of choice here).

I did look that DOC record up, and I found Greg's as well.  Crazy, just crazy.  Yeah, Craig Taylor is due to be released in 2011 and as a confessed murderer (not to mention all the other infractions he's earned while IN prison) should be carrying Greg's life sentence.  I do hope that someone persues that and ensures that this clearly disturbed habitual felon does NOT walk the streets.  I would be very scared if I were living in that area!  Sadly, it seems it is up to the same DA that is being a (insert word of choice here) to do so.  Some people should not be given so much power.

well, I finally had to do it!  That darn G string frayed enough and while the guitar was sitting idle it just broke.  I guess it was one of those fiber nylon wrapped with metal deals... cuz when I opened up the new strings I saw that the G string in my new pack was a solid nylon string.  THANK GOD for that (I really beat that G string up something fierce!).  So, I watched every video I could find and read everything I could and I don't think I did too bad!  My knots are all nice and tight and I even wrapped the ends under.  I'm not really sure how I like the look of the knots up at the tuning pegs, so I might try something different there next time, but all and all it was a successful string change!  Thanks again to everyone for their suggestions!

I couldn't really play the first day cuz every few minutes I could hear those nylon strings going flat... I think it's calming down now tho and I can play for about an hour before they start going flat again.  Hopefully they'll even out in the next day or so.  It was quite a bummer to find that I couldn't play cuz there was a broken string... and then couldn't play immediatly after the change cuz the strings had to stretch!  I guess THIS is where having an extra guitar could come in QUITE handy!  LOL!

I think anyone that has ever busked has had bad days at it... Even if the performance is good sometimes people just don't tip. Never take it personally smile  I play on the beach a lot and sometimes I'll open the case if there are people stopping to listen. Sometimes it pays off well and sometimes it doesn't. It depends on the crowd. I do have a sign taped to the inside top of my case that says... "Think I suck? Tip and help me pay for lessons smile " That sems to help wink people will smile when reading it and usually throw out a little. Hopefully it's because of the humor and not the need for lessons lol

I like that Pix!  If I heard someone that sucked and had that sign, I prolly would not tip yet just keep on walking... but if they were good, I'd appreciate the humor and it would lead me to tip to give me reason to get close enough to say a nice comment!

I think if you're busking, then it's awesome regardless of money you do or don't make!  It's great that you're interested in giving a try at letting others hear your music!

Despite the Innocence Commission's unanimous decision that Greg is innocent, and another man's recent confession to the murder, the DA has announced that he will not support Greg's release, but will instead argue against Greg's release in the new trial presided over by the 3-judge panel.

I have few words that can explain what I'm feeling about THIS (well few that I'm allowed to express on this message forum anyhow).  I cannot believe that he's going to argue against Greg's release ... seriously?  How does one person have so much power when there are so many others, an entire commission and a confession, saying that he is innocent?  It is... just... grrrr!  May GOD BLESS that 3 judge panel and Greg and ensure that justice comes to him!

And what of the man that has confessed?  Have they also imprisoned him?  Or has the DA ignored this confession and is NOT prosecuting?  Do they in fact have TWO different men imprisoned for the same crime that only ONE man has committed?

I hear ya Zurf.  We own an older home and there is ALWAYS something that needs to be done!  Every time we start a new project, we find that there is 10 times more work that needs to be done than "should" be.  Like the time my husband thought he'd throw a new roof on the back room in the house cuz the patch jobs just weren't cutting it.  He found out that it had already been done once (completely WRONG) and the original roof trusses had NEVER been removed!  I don't know too much about building, but I get that 2 roofs had to be removed, trusses rebuilt and then new roof on.  Um... yeah... simple jobs turned into huge projects and way more $$ than planned!  We dub our house the "Money Pit".  Good movie that brings us back to reality every time.

I have read that those with more artistic abilities often carry "leadership" qualities as well.  "Gifted and Talented" programs in school come to mind, as they'd take the gifted and talented and try to encourage their leadership skills (at the time, I didn't comprehend what my talents had to do with leadership).  Sooo... other than the mods on here (cuz right there is the obvious leadership quality you hold!) how many musicians also carry on leadership roles?  Parents of course... but in other places?  I was an assistant union steward and trainer when I worked in customer service.  In cosmetology school I was the one teachers sent the new students to talk to and also the one that the teachers called upon to literally run the class when they were running late.  The teachers have remained my "friends" and still occasionally call me in to help teach a class.  My father was also heavily involved in his union.  My husband is not involved in his union too much, however he is often hired for jobs as a foreman not just another worker bee.

hahaha, love this thread,

At the end of the day, if you add up how much your missus would spend on shoes, hair, nails, cloths, handbags, buety products, coffee, and all the other cr@p, I would say 1 guitar purchase a year (provided it dont take food off the table) is resonable,

But try getting your missus to see that logic is a totally different story., I cant even get a pair of fitting shorts LOL

ha ha ha... from a woman's point of view (sorry guys) that stuff is maintenance, like guitar strings!  LOL!  A trip to the spa for a full day of relaxation would equal a new guitar.  Something special, not the every day stuff.  Geez, you wouldn't want her walking around with grey straggly hair, dingy fraying jeans and no makeup now would you?  Ahhh... she'd scare even you away then!  wink

And I agree... the drums VS. a guitar is a SURE winner!!

Bonedaddy - at least there IS a new guitar in the house nonetheless? wink  (yes, that is the kind of thing a woman would say).

Hmmm... this really is a tricky one if you have a spouse that doesn't comprehend the differences and the love of guitar.  To me, it's addictive like a really good book series.  Maybe just "talking" and sharing your "feelings" about the guitar and playing could help since after all woman are all about talk and feelings (yes, from Venus not mars we don't go into the cave to think things out we call a village meeting)!  If she could only understand where you're coming from and WHY you want more... maybe you'd get further?  I don't know for sure how to explain that to someone that isn't into it tho and just sees the dollar signs and wood.  Feelings, feelings is all I can come up with.  Guess I'm not much help here as in the end I think I'm also lucky to have a spouse (albeit a man) that comprehends my love of music and the difference in guitars.

I'm not sure about "proving that" and I looked briefly to see if there was something to that effect, tho nothing popped up at me.  I personally have always thought they go hand in hand.  But, I have been proven wrong by a few people.  Of course, I've heard some awesome guitar players that couldn't sing in tune too!  My ex-husband can draw fairly well, but can't hold a tune to save his life.  My dad is a decent guitar player and can sing, but he can't draw a stick figure!  My husband and I are both pretty decent when it comes to music and other art forms.  He can draw like there's no tomorrow, has a small tattoo shop, and has done a LOT of airbrush painting on motorcycles, helmets, and snowmobiles.  I can draw alright, I'm a cosmetologist and hair color is more my thing than others (which includes comprehending the color wheel and what will and won't work well together, placement of color, etc).  So I guess for some it's common, but not necessarily a gurantee!

Seriously guys... I can tell you that a few years ago (when I knew NOTHING about guitars, and did not really care about them), I bought my husband a guitar from Wal-Mart.  Yep... I am ashamed to say it, but it happened.  He talked and talked about guitars, and I thought I'd be a sweetheart and surprise him.  He's been diddling with that evil thing for a few years now.  He DID know better, but accepted it graciously and never complained.  He isn't really as INTO guitar as I am, but I'll bet he would be if he had something to call his own that was decent!  I finally decided just a short time ago that I wanted to play.  I picked his up and then actually started learning about guitars.  I talked about what I wanted in a guitar... and for our anniversary he offered to take me guitar shopping.  He let me pick out the guitar I wanted (I still didn't know too much about them, except at that point I had an idea of what I wanted within a very LOW price range, and realized that his was crap)... and he bought me the one I picked.

So now what?  I want him to get a new guitar that he can love (and maybe we can start a bonfire with the Wal-mart guitar)... so, honestly... if you can get her interested, you'll get your new guitar... but then... you'll have to buy her one too!!!!

On the other hand... I don't know what will happen when I decide that I want ANOTHER guitar (I mean, when I decide what my next guitar will be... of course I already want another one!) ... I don't think it will be so easy to acquire more ... unless of course, I get him one that's more expensive than mine first... and then, maybe I'll be able to get a nicer one!  ha ha!  What's that saying, "Give and then you shall receive" - something like that!

My husband has large fingers... as in, we had to special order his wedding ring because places just don't keep his size in stock.  He likes my classical guitar because the fretboard is wider - on top of that you don't have to press as hard on the strings to get a true tone out... and if you don't get it just right and do have one dull string, it still sounds kinda decent (compared to his steel string... seems if you've got one dull string from an improperly placed finger it ruins the whole chord).  Of course... he also does NOT like my guitar because it's a 3/4 size and the body is also thinner.

Sooo... practice practice ... and when you get a chance and think you'll really stick with the guitar go visit a few guitar stores and try out some with wider fretboards!  Heck, try out a bunch.  Try out some expensive models, some cheaper models, some full size, jumbo, smaller ... try them all and you'll see that there is SOOO much out there!  Then... write a letter to SANTA!!!  wink

There's tons of free info on the internet about reading tab.  One site that has been mentioned for it's teaching of TONS of stuff is justinguitar.com - this guy is really great and if you follow his directions from the very beginning (on the left side of his site click on the basics and start there) you can really learn a LOT on your own.  Of course he's got more detailed lessons as well.

Anyhow, here's the link to his site with the part specifically about reading tab:  http://www.justinguitar.com/en/TB-011-ReadTAB.php  hope this helps.  Have a great day!
