Crevs... sounds like you're doing AWESOME!  I've been playing for a short 2 months (my husband keeps saying it's been three, but I know when I started based on when I registered here on Chrodie!  LOL)... it's amazing what can be done in a short amount of time when you really love something and put your heart into it.  You sound excellent... and youtubing can be so scary!  Good job!

hee hee... very nice Old Doll... and oh so realistic.  How funny when we meet some people in this life and think how nice and kind they are... and then they prove us wrong!  LOL!  THEIR LOSS truly, not ours.

When my kids get too big to go out door to door, I'll have a spooky porch.  I don't know why I love halloween so much, but I do.  I get dressed up with the kids and take them out.  My hubby and I used to get dressed up and go out to th bars for the costume parties... but that was when we only had my son and he was generally at his father's house (my ex) on the night we went out.  Now we have kids here all the time.  I did win $100 prize one year for best costume at the little bar down the road... maybe that's why I like halloween so much!  LOL!

I really enjoyed your song... with only one listen, I wanted to be singing along.  I will be back again for sure to hear it and make an attempt at playing it.  Very good!

szmeretzky, it's all about the law.  It is illegal to post lyrics and such to copyright material.  Just like it's illegal to copy information that you find in an encyclopedia without quoting the source.  Chordie is a search engine that finds the material elsewhere, quotes it, and changes the format (chodpro) to look all pretty for you to print out and transpose.  Other sites have the information, Chordie indexes it and puts it in a nice easy to find location ... search by song name, by artist name, save it for later, etc.  How do those other sites do it then if it's illegal?  I don't know for sure... maybe they have a deal with the copyright owners who knows... maybe a lot of them are getting shut down on a regular basis after legal battles.  Take a look at some of the other sites and you'll find that the way Chordie indexes the songs, makes them savable, transpose, etc... and you'll probably find like many of us have that Chordie's indexing system is just better than the way other sites are arragnged.

So, yes if you want to post a copyright song you do have to do that elsewhere.  If you have an original song, you can post that on the forums.  If you want to find chords to songs, save them, print them, etc... then Chordie is a great place for that.  Honestly, my husband was getting the info from other sites that actually host the info... then I got into guitar and found Chordie.  He saw my printouts and was jealous.  They just look better, and I came across better versions of songs far easier by using this site than he did by using google!

I hope that explains it a bit better for you.  Chordie isn't suggesting that other sites are better and you should go elsewhere... just that this is an indexing site, a search engine of chords and tab.  Go to other sites to post copyright material, then come back here to find it in an organized, printable, saveable fashion... and visit the forums to talk to nice people about it all!

I guess I should probably say... I have a 13 yr old son from a previous marriage... and also after Courtney my husband and I had 2 beautiful healthy little girls.  I am blessed to have my 3 living children in my life hugging and kissing me every day!  Along with our stillbirth, I did also experience 3 miscarriages.  The road to conceiving our 2 living daughters was VERY difficult as there was a seemingly LONG moment in time where I wondered if I was capable, or if maybe I wasn't "meant" to have any more than my son here with me.  I do have some concerns with my 2 year old's language development... but all in all I know how blessed I am to have these children with me!

Writing this... playing and singing it... has certainly brought me a bit of "self therapy" and some peace.  Amazing... each year that passes I hope it will be "better" and in many ways it is... yet in others the pain lingers.  I can't express enough how much I appreciate this website, the forum, and the members ... this PLACE to be encouraged to write, play, sing, and share.  From the very deep wells of my heart (as I tear up a little) I thank you all!

So... it's recorded and uploaded on youtube.  I didn't use anything special to record with, so it's there with all my little mistakes and fresh over laryngitis!  I'd love to hear your comments however, I know musical people are capable of hearing past the mess to the music!  Thanks!!

Very nice!  I just posted it on facebook... I can think of a few folks that will truly enjoy that ... probably more than I did even!  wink  Very fun play on words and a great tune!  I could see Johnson picking this up for their next commercial!

Beautiful indeed!  I've been in a LOT of churches, and about once per year I go back to my roots (the denomination I was raised) and take in mass at a Catholic church just for the reverence of the service and the beauty of the architecture.  I can say I haven't been to one quite that glorious.  Very beautiful!

This is one that we sang in youth group a lot when I was going to a non-denominational church... there's not too much to it, but nice and fairly "easy" chords (after a few classes):  http://www.chordie.com/chord.pere/?url= … ranspose=0

Here's how it sounds:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RGcb7alSk0

I haven't taken any lessons, and obviously haven't taught any ... except in trying to help my son out with my little knowledge.  I will say however, I think group lessons sound like they'd be "fun to take" ... so I guess it'll be good if you can do something to keep it fun?  Varied ages would add to that "fun" factor, although it'd probably also make teaching more difficult.  Good luck... I look forward to hearing more about this journey!

Doc... you are truly blessed... to be able to SEE things from this angle rather than living life inside that "willow" ... peace be with you!  I do hope when you return from your trip, that you are able to "pick up that guitar and play, just like yesterday"

Good deal guys.  Do you know what the download version can do?  Is it a 7 day, 30 day trial etc?  Full featured, or just a look until you purchase?  Thanks!

This topic has been discussed before, but coming from different view points.  When you copy or view a song that you find through the chordie search engine, you're viewing the song which is formatted to look all pretty.  It's actually chordpro formatting ... similar to how I can make this word bold: bold, by typing codes into the forum.  The only way to copy the song without all the formatting - so you're not dealing with tables and cells is to view the song in it's original form (with the coding).  When viewing, on the right of the screen 4th box down click on "chopro" ... now the chords are in [brackets] right before the word they WOULD have shown up above.  You're also going to see some other stuff in bracket and also in {} these type of brackets.  You can now copy and paste and do whatever you'd like without having to deal with tables.  To make life EASIEST... I would suggest viewing and copying the song in this format... space it how you like, remove the extra brackets and formatting that you don't need, and then just make all the chords a different color so they'll still stand out to you... but again, they'll be before the word, not above it.

Hope that helps some... enjoy!

Oh... and as alvee33 said... you could just change the font size when printing instead of all that stuff.  When you choose print and the document shows up on one page... at the top there are three letter A's one bigger or smaller than the other... try clicking on one of those and see how the font size changes.  You can also change where (if) the chord charts are printed if you like directly on the site.

Old Doll... I did get some printer ink... and had no problem printing this.  So, it must have something to do with your printer settings or something on your end.  Maybe try it at a friend's house and see if it works alright on their computer?

Soooo... I finally "allowed" my husband to see the words and music to this and I played it for him last night (yep, tested on you my friends first).  My voice is still horrid, but I could kind of hum it out and he really liked it a lot.  We fiddled with my ideas of strumming and picking and determined that the EXACT sound I want would have to be done with more than one instrument.  But, I'm working on a little picking along with strumming.  Either way, I'll be playing around with audacity a little bit and see if I can get what I was looking for by myself.

It was really nice to be able to share this with him, and we had a 6 year break thru as well.  It's always bothered me something fierce that I didn't know the color of her eyes... I thought they were closed from the get go... but apparently they were not and he knew all along (but we just don't talk too much about the bad details of the day she was born)... and now I know... 6 years of torment, I had a little girl with brown eyes like her daddy!  The other kids have hazel and blue.  It's a HUGE calm, and THIS SONG has provided that for me!  CHORDIE has provided the outlet for me to put the song up to find out this info.  THANK YOU ALL!

Tks!  She LOVES being in front of the camera and on stage.  Yeah, I'm a bit North-West of Hurley... between Syracuse and Utica... but in a nice little small town with a lovely small lake within walking distance.  The leaves are beautiful right now... but winter is going to be rough this year!  I'd rather be in NC!  We have family down there and have considered more than once getting out of the cold (and taxes)!

Katie567 -- any of these suggestions what you were looking for?  I really hope you try that F too... it has changed my perception of the "dreaded F" ... plus, you can get away without fretting that first string on some songs, or just deaden it if you can't quite fret it yet!

Glad to hear that things worked out well for you in the end.  WHEW!  Interesting thread that you brought up there.  Personally, I gave up drinking and driving a long time ago.  Thank GOD I never harmed anyone or myself.   I actually can see a bar from my window (VERY small town but we do have a bar and a corner store) so, I'm close enough to walk home.  The police stopped my husband and I a couple weeks ago on our walk home, but they were thrilled to find that we were walking after drinking and smiled and waved!  If we're going to a friend's party, we bring the tent, a DD, or don't go!  Here in NY State... we have had a cell phone law for a while.  The police tho (interestingly enough) are allowed to talk on cell phones while driving.  They're working on incorporating texting into the cell phone ban as well.  AND... our school busses do have seat belts as well as 4 child seats for the kids under 4 that go to pre-kindergarten.  NY loves laws... I guess it helps to keep us all safer in the end.  The newest law we have now is that ALL children under 7 (or so many pounds) MUST be in a child booster seat... our school busses do NOT have booster seats for all the kids under 7 however!  LOL!  Can you imagine?  TAX HIKE!  Yeah, there are reasons NY State has very high taxes and it's not ALL to support NYC!

I'm still a big time beginner, and there was this ONE song that I wanted to play that had an F in it so I found this.  While this may not always work to give the "right" sound, it has helped me a few times... try this version of the F:
http://www.chordimages.com//ramimages/i6/Fchord_N03211_1.png
and have fun playing!

Don't overdose on the sad songs... how about "You are my Sunshine" ... it's sad, but not toooo sad
here:  http://www.chordie.com/chord.pere/?url= … anspose=-2

you'll see it's transposed to -2 semitones to allow for simple chords... no capo necessary, just play and sing babe... check out my webiste link (below my name) to hear my 4 year old daughter and I singing it (and it's being played with that -2 semitones) - nothing too special, but it's there and not too bad for a newbie to play!  If I can do it, anyone probably can!  wink

hmmm... I'm going to have to see if I can find some Manuka Honey around here somewhere.  It'll have to be cheaper than buying the facial product already made... plus... I can eat it!  LOL!  I'm sure I'll have to find it in a specialty store tho.  I'll keep my eyes open!  THANKS!!

And I agree... GSE had me laughing as much as the story!
