Hi Jeff,

I too have been blessed with a great mum. She is 86 in September and she can still bend and touch her toes easier than I can, I am sure she is fitter than I.

Lovely song and I am sure she will be over the moon when you sing it to her.

Hi Chuck,

I like the chord sequence and the lyrics although like Jeff I struggled a bit with the timing in the chorus so I too would love to hear you singing it. I hope you are soon able to get it recorded.

Thank you,

Roger

As an ex amateur actor I have always considered your request prior to a performance to be very bad luck so my message to you is "Break a Leg".

Please let us know how it goes.

Strangely enough I have clicked on Russ's link to get here and I am having no problems at all and I use IE7.

Hi Montana,

I assume you mean the 'machine heads' (the winding devices to tighten and tune the strings). If so these are readily available from any half decent guitar shop. Google 'guitar machine heads' if you wish to buy on-line.

Shame Daddycool,

Being the old romantic that I am I was having visions of you, standing outside your bedroom window, knee deep in snow, serenading your belovéd.  My vision has been shattered, I am so disappointed sad.

Hi Daddycool,

Lovely romantic one there. I bet "she who must be obeyed" really like this one from you.

Well done,

Roger.

P.S. I do not think there is any problem putting your song on here that has the same chords as 'Home On The Range'.

Hi Jerome,

A beautiful song and a fitting tribute to both your father and all the firefighters that have lost their lives making things safe for the rest of us.

Hi,

If you are wanting to progress to a chord other than D to start the next line perhaps changing your second line to either D G A D or D A G D will do the trick although this may not be what you had in mind.

Hi Bro,

Another sombre one from from you however it was lightened by the third from last line "Tears in my eyes caused by onions" which did bring a smile. I do not know whether this was deliberate or not but is certainly took the gloom out of ithe songfor me - I like it. Nice chord sequence too.

Nice one Jeff,

Great chord progression and it does often seem to be a female trait that they take things, and life, too seriously sometimes and this is just the song to cure it.

Mind you the ladies probably say that many of us men do not take things serious enough and perhaps we should grow up.

Hi srosanba,

A good start to a song and look forward to seeing the finished article. However I must say that I am a little worried about your 5 year old writing a song that starts "Going to the pub tonight", I dread to think what will he be writing about when he is six lol.

Well done and thank you,

Roger

Hi Badeye,

There is a lot of truth in this song, we must take care for the envirinment today - tomorow is too late. Nice chord progression.

Am I right in thinking that the part that got screwed up is a spoken part of the song whilst the verse chords are played? If you break the lines up shorter it will probably display OK.

Thank you,

Roger

Hi Danb5,

Welcome to Chordie. If you care to nip into Resources you will see that the bottom item is 'Change Settings', you can save left handed guitar or uke settings there.

Hi Daddycool,

I went in and re-typed the formatting switches 'song' and '/song' and it appears to have done the trick.

A lovely song Jeff with a beautiful sentiment I hope this is on your recording list as I would like to hear it.

Thank you,

Roger

Sorry Ken,

I guess I need a trip to the optician or perhaps to imbibe and extra dram or two.

This song is based on fact but there is some extrapolation and imagination in it and verse 4 is complete invention but it was needed to fininsh the song.

So Anita, as I promiced, here is your song.

It is on MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/rogerguppy

[G]Now we [Em]planto [c]be with each [D]other,

[C]Until the [D]end of [G]time, [D]

From someone who is 15 and a few months (well 552 of them actually) I have to agree with NELA's comments.

So for you youngsters there is no need to post your e-mail address on the forum. Anyone wishing to contact you can do so through Chordie by clicking on the E-mail tag under your username without you having to make it public. This way your privacy is kept intact and you know who is contacting you without having to reveal your address.

If you do not buckle down and complete this assignment I will unscrew your left arm and beat your head in with the soggy end.

Is that motivation enough? lol lol lol

Hi Bryan,

A very good song for your first Chordie offering and even better for having a recording of it so we can hear the melody and how you intend it to be. Mind you the photo you sent to accompany it did not look much like the devil, perhaps he is in disguise lol

I hope there will be more songs to follow.

Thank you and well done.

Roger

There was also Joe Doce's "Shaddup Your Face" which prevented Ultavaox's "Vienna" from the number one spot in the UK in the 1981.
