It is.  And you have to be ok with the risk of publicly sucking, playing on unfamiliar equipment, playing with people you don't know how to communicate with, etc.  great for skill building though.

Thanks Jim.  Yeah it shorted or something so I had to move quick.   They got it working again though.  Bad cable I suppose.

Baldguitardude, Pat Boone takes me way back to when I was a boy. Our house when I was a kid was always full of music. Unfortunately when I clicked on your link youtube it told me this video is not available. I am sure it  would be a great clip if I could have viewed it,
.

Nooooooo I'll try to find another

This is from my last post in Peatle's thread - injecting humour - I'm sure it will help in your playlist and set performances! smile

I have tried for many years to get humor into my shows. Only problem is I'm not very funny. I have a super dry sense of humor that (I am told) either doesn't make sense or comes off as me being a jerk. I've tried though lol.

How can we forget Pat Boone? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0plKBDytDA

3 1/2- 4 hours depending on traffic

Well let's plan us a jam. We can meet in the middle.

Beamer, great job. I put a note in Soundcloud. This song is HARD. Fun challenge!

Here's my try.  https://soundcloud.com/joe-lilly/taxi-c … -the-month

all of you  guys - nicely done.    Looking forward to the recording of it by the " Chordie trio  "        If only you three could get together and play it collaboratively.

keep'em coming

Jim

I don't know about Mojo, but I have played and sung with BGD and it was a blast.  I can only imagine how much fun we'd have with Mojo and his pickles pitching in.

No one writes it. These are bots that are programmed to go out and spam forums using a technique called spinning that you can learn about here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Article_spinning

Long story short, bots go out and spam the crap out of tons of sites like ours with this content, pointing the content back at a target site (the websites in their profile signatures.) They do this thousands or more times in a row and hope something sticks.

The search engines are getting smarter and smarter about penalizing for forum spamming and detecting b.s. links like these, but unfortunately some folks still try it.

Many forums will hang a new poster's post in pending so that it is invisible to the world until a mod approves it. Chordie has made a decision to not do that because it's unfair to new members. So we have a bit of cleanup to do.

Hope that explains it!

Post some links to the sound you're going for and I will promise to give you well-intentioned advice.  Might be off mark though.  I'm not nearly as good at choosing guitars as Joey or Russ.

I feel you Ed. I've started running down complete sets to get ready for gigging again. Barely made it 45 minutes the other day. Used to be that 3-4 hours (with 2 breaks) was no big deal. I feel like a newbie all over again!

3 upbeat, are you in a bar that would enjoy a humor song? like Grape fruit Juicy fruit or Ray Stevens? toss one of them in, another upbeat, a mid tempo, then maybe a slower one or 2, ramp back up make them want to dance and drink,  end with something makes them sweat so they buy from the bar.  That's what I would do.  It really depends on where you are playing.  Hanging out with bands its kinda a formula I have seen used.
Russell and a few of the guys who have more public experience than I can probably be of more help.

Some of the place I'm playing in will have a sense of humor. Was gonna do "Why Don't We Get Drunk and...." as a haha song. Oh and Bare Necessities.

Good news!  Patents on MP3 began to expire in April of this year, so encoders like LAME should be showing up more and more as part of standard audio distributions.   I imagine it will probably be rolled into your operating system soon enough.  Native encoding would rock.

Edit:  The latest Reaper now ships with an MP3 encoder, for example.

No idea what any of this means but I'll remind you that this is a family website. No cussing!

Just in case anything you said translates to profanity. smile

Joking aside, after reviewing my nifty new PA I have discovered that my options are quite limited. Still sticking a mic in a room, but now that room contains a PA that I'm singing through, which is quite helpful for rehearsal.
