hi chordie. when im on my songbook the auto scroll is nowhere to be seen. can you help. it would be of great help to me as its a nightmare having to scroll when playing a song.

Hi breezy
If the whole box is missing then try adjusting your screen resolution by holding down the Ctrl key and pressing the plus and minus keys.
works for some..

Hi borderman
Welcome to Chordie.
I run firefox with windows 7 I just tried the autoscroll function it is working ok for me.
Is just one song or all of them. I think this maybe down to a problem your end ie speed of connection (which is probably unlightly) or a gliche in the punBB codiing.
It may well right itself as gliches sometimes do.

Hi chaotenelli
Welcome to Chordie
No I'm afraid you can't view your songbook offline.

I used to be able to use the scroll function, then suddenly it stopped working and all the cool features went to the bottom of the page.  I tried the CTRL minus and plus signs, which is cool, btw, but it doesn't solve my problem. Any help would be lovely.  Thanks for chordie. I love it.

You could try using a different browser to view Chordie. This problem seems to stick with some members even with a different browser but doesn't effect others. Don't you just love the internet...

My wife has encouraged me in everything musical I've done. She even booked me guitar lessons when I was starting out many years ago and always has shown an interest in my songwriting etc.

As there is no music ie chords for this piece as yet I have moved your potential song to the poem section as per Chordie guide lines.
Thanks.

New to this site and just wondering:

Isn't anyone worried that someone will steal their songs?

I'm not worried never crossed my mind all my compositions are free to download copy or alter a couple have been.
I guess if a person is worried as to the copyright of their song then don't put it up in an open forum or any internet song sites.

Hi, same problem, don,t have the auto scroll function. I have tried the resolution adj but to no effect.
The bottom of my song screen has Transpose, Tuning, and songbook. there is no print or scroll function. Any help would be appreciated.
Love this site by the way!

I just replicated what you are showing on my laptop. I did this by pressing Ctrl and the plus sign until the screen was showing very large print and only Transpose, Tuning and Songbook appeared at the bottom of the song.
Ctrl and minus brought the screen back to normal with all the features on the right handside of the song.
You say you've tried the adjust with no success so I'm not sure what it is. I'm using the firefox browser so that might have a bearing on the resolution fix.

Hi heymrjohn and Welcome to chordie.
The auto scroll should be to the right handside of the song you are viewing. It's in a box that says "auto-scroll" "print" and "chopro"
If the whole box is missing then try adjusting your screen resolution by holding down the Ctrl key and pressing the plus and minus keys.

Dan Brown is not an historian. He makes up a lot of crap.

Well I think Dan Brown may just disagree with that broad statement of “Crap“. I don’t think he classes himself as Historian but he has Historians advising him on his books.
I personally believe that there is probably a grain of truth in what he writes couched in a low brow read.
The truth if it is out there is probably more bizarre than anything Dan Brown or any other fiction writer can cook up.

After just reading Dan Brown's book "The Lost Symbol" Freemasonary was and still is the most potent force in America today...
Though it is a work of fiction so it just maybe untrue... smile

I was thinking about doing a key change, perhaps up a step to D, for the third verse for emphasis then back to C for verse four.  Do you think this would be a good idea and, if so, how would I transition from C to D then back smoothly?

As a beginner I appreciate the help.

If you think the key change sounds good then go for it. It your song and what sounds good to you is what matters. If you think it it sounds bad to you then don't do it. There's no particular rules to song writing just go with own thoughts and make it your own.

I remember being blown away by Led Zep's whole lotta love in the late sixties. Wasn't the first Rock I'd heard but it was the first one to make a lasting impression on me. Still brings back a lot of good memories..

I've used Audacity a lot in the past and found with the stuff I've done that trial and error is a good way of learning what's best for your sound.
A lot depends on what sort of kit you play back your music on and no two are the same. A setting which works for me may well not work for you.
Audacity is a good basic recording and mixing programe but does need time spent on it to master the sound you want.

My first real guitar was a 70's Tele copy think it was called a Jedson bought with an amp and with a great ambition to emulate Eric Clapton. Needless to say it was one gigantic pipe dream which fizzled out after a few months. Still got the body of the Tele though the electrics died a death years ago may bring it back to life one day.   smile

Had no problems with buying online you can always return the guitar if you really don't like it or resell it.
I guess if your an expert guitar player then you might poo poo the idea of buying a guitar before trying it out first. Then I'm not an expert...:)

I don't use an iPad myself.
If it's the same as viewing Chordie on a PC your Songbook would only be availible online and signed in.
If any member knows different perhaps they can chip in here...
