I love Andy McKee's technique and passion for music. He( McKee) credits the late, great Michael Hedges as one of his main influences.  Hedges' music still makes me tear up and get that huge lump in my throat everytime I hear him do his magical, mystical thang. Michael Hedges is one of my primary  musical heros and I'm very positive that Andy McKee will effect many others in a similar or greater way that Hedges has touched this musician and many, many others. Andy McKee is a special, tremendously gifted musician...............

I have to set this up a little;
My son was jumping on the couch so I told him he shouldn't do this because he could fall through our living room window and crack his head open. Later that night while I was away playing a gig, my son created this original composition( 100 % by himself) on my lefty fender acoustic that I keep tuned in open D;

Stuffed cucumber salad bites;

Cut cucumber into 1 1/2 inch slices
Carefully trim the skin off outer edges( if desired )
Hollow out the center of cucumber using a small hollowing spoon( as to form a bowl). Do not puncture the bottom!!! Some chefs steam the cucumbers for a few minutes,post hollowing,  I prefer them totally raw.

**Cube (very small cubes 1/8") mozzarella cheese,
mince green onions, green olives and carrots, add olive oil, course salt and fresh cracked pepper, mix these ingredients thoroughly**

Loosely fill hollowed cucumbers with mixed ingredients, add a small topping of your favourite salad dressing,and finally, top with a crisp mini-crouton.

I made this dish last night for the family. We normally have a plain ole tossed salad before our main course. ( last nights meal was grilled salmon, fresh green beans, and cous cous) I felt like trying something different and we all loved it. I had to make my wifes seperate because she doesn't like olives. I had 6 of 'em but could've devoured 106 if I had made 'em. This is something that one could add fresh tuna or salmon. Kinda like a garden fresh tar tar dish. Hhhmmmm, I just gave meself an idea for our next family dinner........

It really is starting to be a bit of an issue, just printed out 4 copies of a 30 song set for a gig tomorrow and having to edit the errata by hand on every copy.

I guess you still came out ahead verses going to the local music/book store and paying for the sheet music individually. I hate to sound like an old coot but back in the day one would have to sit down and figure the song out totally by ear or break out the wallet and spend some hard earned cash for songbooks. Appreciate what we have available, it's a privilege, not a right..........

? How many songs can you give me that is in the key of "G" that has a Bm in them. I can only think of one " Pirates look at 40" by jimmy buffett G-C-G-Am-Bm
I don't think you modes has anything to do with the chords that go with a key. how ever when you play an open "g" chord on the gutiar you  do use an open "b" string

jerome.oneil is giving you examples of individual notes within a particular mode. This is helpful to some but for the common beginner/intermediate sittin' around with a few beers and good friends, talk of  theory regarding verbal application of lydian, myxolidan, aeolian, locrian, etc, etc, etc, rarely comes up. Practical application, in regular dude/gal speak is often much more effective and applicable. I'll attempt to expand;

Bm does go quite nicely with G. Bob Seger's ( Against The Wind) and The Band's( The Weight) are  two prime examples of how nicely Bm flows with G.
Seger-Against The Wind;
G Bm C G D C ( That's the first stanza of the verse progression)
The Band- The Weight ( Take A Load off Fanny)
G Bm C ( verse progression).

Next time you feel like kickin' it around a little with your guitar and  a completely open mind try this progression; Do it slow, do it fast do it however you 'unt to.
G Am Bm C D Em F G

and then this one;
E F#m G#m A B C#m D#+( X 6 7 8 0 0)really cool chord! E

and one more to fardle around with;
A Bm C#m D E F#m G A

I guess what I'm tryin' to say, and I'm paraphrasing, is this;
It's yo thang, do whatch ya wanna do.........

Just have fun  and stay loose...

And if you need a great reference tool for chords I highly recommend this;

This is a really cool site.Clear and concise instruction, not to wordy. Also, it gives easy to follow chords charts and well written tab. Finally, it gives audio snippets to guide the learning mission. Hope you like it and find it helpful;

Hey Southpaw41L. How is that Washburn Jazz guitar? I'd love to get a ES335 but I'm looking for something a little more "budget friendly"; Any recommendations?

Hello geoguitar,
The one I own is the basic HB 15, custom converted to lefty. They don't make this one in lefty style so I had my good friend ( Ed Wright) fix it up for me. It is not close to a ES335 but then again there ain't too many guitars on the market that are. But for the money, I absolutely love my HB 15. I blacked out the logo on the headstock because I know the guitar has no equity and I love to frustrate "look at headstock guitar guy". I thought about painting the ole one finger salute to replace the logo but many of the places I play are family friendly, so that's not gonna happen.(haha)

Yeah, it's a great guitar and it'll run you between $350-$425 new.

Hey thanks Pix! I have no earthly idea what you mean by ficker-Twix bar but I do appreciate you fixing my post. I dig your guitars as well, nice stuff pal!

Here's another one the kids really like;

A1 Fresh Basil Scrambled Eggs-

10 eggs, 5 yolks in 5 yolks in the compost pile( never too early to watch the cholesterol!!and care about the local enviroment)
10 fresh basil leaves, minced very fine
7 teaspoons of A1 steak sauce ( sodium source, careful not to overdo it)
1/2 teaspoon of fresh ground pepper
1/4 cup of lowfat milk

Mix 'em up while a non-stick pan with a little bit of butter heats up.
Dump the eggs and stuff in the pan and scramble 'em up to your personal preference.
Watch those kids faces light up when they chomp down on this yummilicious dish!!! ( if the kids like eggs...)

I'm not sure how to do this posting of pictures thing. The University of South Florida journalism department is doing a human interest story on yours personally. They came over to my house and took some pictures and put them on their/my space. I have no earthly idea how this stuff works other than the basic cut and paste thingy-ma-bob-a-jig. Anyways, if it works, you should see my 2005 Gibson J-45 and my 1988 Standard Les Paul;

So I'm curious, (and bored since my guitar is off getting the free setup from the store I bought it from) and thought I'd ask. In general from the time you guys first picked up a guitar till the first time you were able to play something that sounded CLOSE to a song, how long ?

   ?

To me right away, for those listening, quite a bit longer(haha). Seriously though it all depends on how much quality time you put into learning. Keep it simple at first and attempt to play tunes you really like.

We have those "midgies" down here in sunny Florida.( no see ums and deer flies) I use 2 natural repellents. Well maybe only one is actually natural. Lemon juice from a freshly squeezed lemon wedge, rubbed on the skin works quite nicely. Also, a little somethin' I learned from a golfer ( can't recall his name) was to rub listerine ( mouthwash) on your skin. I have to admit it is very effective as well. Careful though not to get either in your eyes..........

Who's Mozart and what's his latest CD called!!

You don't want to be flippant about Mozart.  If your avatar correctly suggests that you like metal music, you've GOT to like Mozart.  He was the party hardy rock star of his day, he completely turned music on it's ear, AND the grand-daddy of all speed metalists, Yngwie Malmsteen, uses Mozart licks and musical techniques to this day!  Everyone influenced by Yngwie is influenced by Mozart.

- Zurf

Actually Yngwie Malmsteem ( The Speedin' Sweedin') was primarily inflenced by Niccolo Paganini. I saw him a few weeks back on some late night metal show and he demonstrated some of Paganinis' mastery.

How is this system for a full band with bass, rhythm, lead and vocals on up to 5 people?  Does it take more than 1 of these systems?   Thanks.

Presently, I do dj'ing/karaoking and use a component system with separate mixer and power amp.  Speakers jbl and very heavy.  But have gone back and forth with a band environment and that is even more of a headache to set up.  All of the above and them some with the sound checks.

One per person is ideal. But , a duo with 2 acoustic guitars and 2 vocals is cool as well. The advantage of one BoseL1 per person is the individual control over volume, tone, and overall mix.
