After the sump pump and pit this is the ideal time to totally remodel the basement into your Dream Basement. A subfloor guitar haven. Totally soundproofed and with fully automated drinks and snacks dispensers.

Seriously though, I really hope you get this all sorted out and fixed up as soon and as inexpensively as possible. We had a similar (though not as serious) problem recently with a leaking water tank in our loft. We didn't know it was leaking until there was water dripping through our bedroom ceiling.

All the best.

Sometimes it depends on the setting. If it's just a campfire or party singalong folk just want to sing, so just banging straight on with the singing is fine.

We all should be aware that God made Scotland First, and made the other lands on an "as needed" basis.  LOL

Hee hee lol

Ewan MacGregor said after doing The Long Way Round that he could see a lot of similarities in the landscape to that of Scotland, which just prooves that God made Scotland first. If St Ewan said it it must be true. big_smile

Glad you enjoyed it, Ken. Also no surprise that the catering at Hampden let you down. It is abismal. The last time we were there it was so bad that my wife sent a letter of complaint stating that the catering kiosks totally ruined her experience of the day. Never thought any more about it til we got a letter back from the Stadium Manager apologising and enclosing a family pass for the Football Museum and vouchers for a complete stadium tour. Nice. Give it a go. wink

The only thing that'll help you is repetition. Play them over and over and over and over and over...

Even just practicing chord progressions, say A D E over and over, while saying the name of the chord as you play it. There's no majic tool will help you remember other than repetition.

Once you know a few chords you will start to see similarities between different ones. You'll see the similarities with the 7th chords, the minor chords, the sus4 chords, the E shaped chords, the A shaped chords, the slight difference between major and 7th chords, and so on.  Honest! You WILL! But not without repetition and practice.

Welcome to the Chordie Forum. There are folk here who will help you a great deal. Just ask!

I'm with Stonebridge on this. I think we'll just leave this alone. Too many strong feelings on this and it could get way out of hand. Before it does.... it's closed.

Yeah I saw that. If it sounds like the martin then everything's cool.

Thanks for that, Ken. Well, I went and bought it. Should be delivered in the next couple of days. It's more for ease of packing. The last few times we've been camping there's been no room for the guitars. I'm also a big softie and am scared I damage my baby. It was a gift and I really love it. So, a £40 travel guitar will fit better in with the gear and I don't particularly care if it gets bashed about a bit. I read a few good reviews and they seem to agree that it has a bigger sound and deeper tone than you'd expect. All will be revealed soon. If I hate it I may be advertising it for sale  before to long.

I'm interested in it really just for camping and stuff where quality tone is not my 1st priority. And it's only 40 quid! I'll give a fullreport later.

I seem to be better in G with a capo on the 1st or second, or even third???  C seems ok too.  Saying that is changes every day??

If the song I'm singing is in G then my capo has been known to be on the 5th fret, or even 7th. Which, I guess, means I'm more comfortable in C or D.

As I said, I'm a freak.

**edited to add a second thought**

Is this the song you're looking for?

Whenever I try to play and sing Motorhead's Ace of Spades (I know, this is not a bad song) it comes out as a country version. It doesn't matter what I do, it still comes out country. lol

Ken, you know I've done ABBA's Dancing Queen. I'm also working on ABBA's Eagle and Patience and Stardust by Take That. I also love playing I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor and have even dabbled in a bit of Spinning Around by Kylie. And many many more....

Is that enough from the alvee house of bad pop?

I fing it really difficult to sing in  E through to A but find it more comfortable in  Bb to D. Yes, that's right D. I think I'm a freak.

He has now written as many songs as me! God bless the little fella.

It's not just you that likes the progression. Noel has written more than a few songs around the same chords. If it works, don't fix it. It's amazing how much, and how diverse a melody, you can fit in with it.

Gaun yersel, Bud!

Good one, Mark. I can hear a bit of Oasis in there. Or maybe it's just me. I've been playing a bit too much Don't look Back in Anger recentely.

I really lke this. So when's the 1st gig? No pressure.

Lmao... oh for those home alone moments. lol
