I hear you Graham. From my search, I think these are the only ones out that that you'll be able to work with... so these are the best you've got...You can get it down, but it's going to take a little time.

This YouTube seems to be the cleanest ...with acoustic guitar backing... It's not the remix so pretty clean.

Thanks - as I said, I've been working on this for a while. I finally got tired of tweaking and put a fork in it. I only recently added the chords to the song, chordpro style, but I played it similarly for years. I didn't intend to have the key so high which was pushing my upper limit when I recorded it. By the time I was done I had to take a long vocal break.

I wrote this a while back, but have been tinkering with it over the past year in a half...figuring about what chords I wanted, how I wanted it to go...that sort of thing, so sharing now. I'll get it recorded sometime soon.

Amara (How Can I Go on) By Jeff Gilpin

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lyrics written sometime after 2010 and polished a bit in 2019 & 2020
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Intro strumming C

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Verse 1
[C]Let me tell you so
Of a girl I used to know
She [F]had this kind of air of majes[C]ty,
And the [F]boys across the land
Oh [C]boy how they did [Am]stand
And [D]ogle her from [D7]sea to shining [G]sea. [G7]
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Verse 2

Now her name was Amara

And for me well as far ah

As there was no fairer damsel that I knew,

And I would try and woo her

Trying to be her only suitor,

Bur try as I might I couldn’t do.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chorus
I ask, “[F]Amara can you love me
And put no one else above me?”
[C]Amara asked of me, could I be true.
“Oh [F]true, yes, I will be.
Now Amara can you see
It in your [G]heart to also love me [F]too? ….Amara can [C]you?”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Verse 3

But Amara and her beauty

Was observed by one on duty,

It was officer McNalty on his beat,

And McNalty for a time

Failed to witness any crime

While Amara’s beauty gave his eyes a treat.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Verse 4
Now McNalty came up to her
And he said he thought he knew her.
She said, “Officer I think you are mistaken,
Because I’ll tell you true
If ever I’d met you
I would surely remember one so handsome.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Chorus 2

And he said, “[F]Amara can you love me

And put no one else above me.”

Asked [C]Amara, “Can you be true?”

“Oh [F]true, yes, I will be.

Now Amara can you see

It in your [G]heart to also love me [F]too.” [C]

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Solo on verse chords
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Ending Chorus

And [F]so my poor heart

Was then and there by torn apart.

[C]Amara how can I go on without?

[F]Now that she’s wedded to

That other officer in blue

As I’m [G]left alone, no one to hear my [F]shouts.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
[G]Amara how can I go on with[F]out you?
[G]Amara how can I go on? [F] Amara? [C]
Moved from song request since you're not requesting a song, but asking for a posted song to be corrected.
BTW - here's where you can find the correct song and chords - https://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/tab/lu … ords-73106
Looks like Chordify has them - https://chordify.net/chords/gaslight-alex-cameron-topic
Forever and a Light Year by Jeff Gilpin
October 24, 2019
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

You [G]see me in the morning

[CMaj7]Looking worse for wear

[D]What hair’s left is all tangled

My [C]smile’s in disrepair

I can [G]clean myself up a little

A little [CMaj7]better than I look now

Through [D]years and years of TLC

I’ve [C]made it here some [D]how

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
But when I [Em]see you
And I [C]see your look of love
The [D]reason why every day
I have to [C]thank the God a[D]bove
This [Em]vision of beauty
I see every [C]morning when I rise
I could [D]spend forever and a [C]light year
Looking into your [G]eyes
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I [G]know you have your worries

And that you [CMaj7]think you’re getting old

Like [D]noticing certain little pains

When the [C]nights start turning cold

I’m [G]sorry to have to tell you

That you’re [CMaj7]searching a little much

To [D]see what I could never find

In the [C]one I love so [D]much

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
‘Cause when I [Em]see you
And I [C]see your look of love
The [D]reason why every day
I have to [C]thank the God a[D]bove
This [Em]vision of beauty
I see every [C]morning when I rise
I could [D]spend forever and a [C]light year
Looking into your [G]eyes
Picking out a tune is something I do most days, so I thought about turning it into a song...so here it is.
Picking Out a Tune By Jeff G - 11-16-2019
Intro finger picking C
__
I’m [C]picking out a tune as
I [F]see the morning sun.
The [C]world keeps spinning
Round and round and [F]round.
The [C]notes are coming out
So [F]softly and so sure
On a [C]path that only
These notes could have [F]found.
And they [Am]take me along
As I [G]try and hold on
To the [Am]notes that seem
To lead me as I [G]follow.
I [F]don’t think about
The [C]fate of the world or
What [G]may or may not
Happen to[Am]morrow.
__
I just [C]think of the notes
And the [F]tones as I play
That [C]color the path that
I am [F]on for the day.
[C]And while I play
[F]Everything is right.
[C]So I keep playing
On and on into the [F]night,
Un[Am]til my finger tips
[G]Whisper in my mind
That I can [Am]put away the tune,
And come back [G]after a little time.
So [F]I put away
These [C]tunes for the day
And you know the [G]world seems
To have gotten along just [Am]fine.
I truly believe FaceBook is evil. It lets you meet your friends that you've lost over time and then takes them away before you get much more than a "how do you do" out typed out. This is just for one such case lately although I've seen more than I like drop off. Anyway, I'm just sharing with you bunch because I know most of you experience this as well. If I write it down and it'll hurt a little less I'm hoping.
Found Out I Lost a Friend Today by Jeff Gilpin
Verse C Am, C Am, F G C
Chorus Am G F Am G
-
Verse 1
[C]Found out I lost a friend today.
I lost them when I wasn’t [Am]looking.
I didn’t mean to look a[C]way.
I got distracted then looked [Am]back then
I get a message says they’re [F]gone
Without so much as a so [G]long.
-
Verse 2
[C]Seemed like it was just the other day.
I remembered when I first [Am]met them.
We talked and talked the day a[C]way.
I don’t know how I could for[Am]get them.
Then life just sort of moved a[F]long.
I hadn’t see them for so [G]long.
Found out I lost a friend to[C]day.
-
Chorus
Yeah they’re [Am]gone... [G] [F] [Am] [G] x2
-
Verse 3
[C]I know I’ll never have the time
To do all the stuff I [Am]want to,
[C]But this just feels like it’s a crime.
Stolen from me before I [Am]got to.
Now I’ll never get them [F]back.
Stored with all the rest I [G]lack.
Found out I lost a friend to[C]day.
-
Ending Chorus
Yeah they’re [Am]gone... [G] [F] [Am] [G] x3
