sorry to hear that!  I didn't really get any toys either... sad day... feel like a little brat pouting in the corner cuz I didn't get anything to keep my attention for more than a minute or two... although the things I did get will come in handy.  It's ok if you go pout for a bit about it dino... and then take a trip to the store and get yourself something good!  LOL!

Maybe the mods can also delete this post from he who was banned?

Sockmonkey... hmmm... now what are you going to get???  It's better if you go in yourself and check them out... get a feel for them... what is nice to fret, sounds nice, etc!  happy hunting!

Ha ha... well... while he was picking out his amp last night, I was playing with the electro acoustics... Ibanez has some mighty nice sounding ones.  Of course, I've only had mine for a few months, so I'd better wait a little longer before I get too excited about that!

Gig bag (no longer have to wrap my guitar in a blanket to take it with me YAY), tuner with chord finder (built in electronic chord chart of sorts), music stand (so I can see what I'm playing without leaning over LOL), peg winder, and some pots and pans so I can cook more food!  ha ha!  Nothing too special... but my b.day is coming up and I'm getting the new Motorola Droid on the 4th when our contract is up!

I got my boys each new electric guitars... because I was so good to them, at least there's more good guitars in the house and of course I'm allowed to play them too!  smile

Thank you Pix!  That is just what I was looking for!

So... they guys were both excited to open up the guitars, and I finally got my hands on one of them last night.  They play very nice... fairly easy to fret (my husband's is the fat strat copy).  He bought himself the Line 6 Spider IV amp and there's a lot of cool effects that can be done with it.  Apparently Line 6 has some pdf's on their site for amp settings too... so that's cool as well!

Sooo... here's the pics of the boys and their new guitars:

my son with his SX strat copy (um, don't think he was into me taking a flash photo of him at the time... LOL!)

While we were at the guitar center last night picking up the hubby's amp I looked again at the Squires... and I cannot get over how much nicer my son's guitar (my husbands too) is than those... AND his was STILL cheaper as a package!  Rondo rocks!  Thanks again to everyone that helped me with that decision and steering me in the proper direction!  If anyone would like a closer look at the guitars... or hear them or anything to help make their own decisions... please ask!  I'll be happy to help!

I was just at the store yesterday playing around while the hubster was looking at amps for his new electric.  I picked one of those up and had a hard time putting it down!  Sounds like a good buy!  Enjoy it!

Sooo... I bought my son and husband new guitars for Christmas.  Pictures will be coming soon.  My husband is having a blast playing with the pickup selector and the amp settings getting different sounds from his.  My 13 year old son however seems to be a little overwhelmed, or even maybe confused about how to get different sounds.  He has the three single coil pickups with a 5 way selector, and just a basic amp.  Can anyone lead me to a website that offers some basics on how to set the selector and amp settings to get different sounds?  I'm sure just playing with it, he'll get it eventually... but maybe some hints or tricks to help out would get him going a little faster.

Very nice Cam!  I find it interesting that this Christmas, the guitar type gifts seem to be the best ones under the tree.  Everyone is appreciating these gifts even more than they did others over the years.  The guitar is a "personal" thing... and to get something to go along with it is such an appreciated gift.  I'm so glad that you have someone in your life that supports your personal experience with your guitar.  I to received goodies to go along with mine this year.  It's so nice to have that support!

Excellent answers here... not sure I can offer much more help than the others have, so I just want to say... Congrats on your guitar and welcome to the forum!

Hmmm... there's apparently several of you!  LOL!  I don't know what you look like so I can't pick one!  ahhhh!  LOL!  You'll have to look me up!  smile

Very nice... I could hear this with a little heavier sound, and the hard rock lovers would be drooling all over this! For my tastes, I do like it quite well as is!

I liked them all... but this one was awesome... Willie's face is priceless as he's clearly hearing the song for the first time!  PRICELESS!  Love Willie Nelson!

Here's a favorite for my Dad and I to belt out after a few drinks in the middle of the bar... LOL

Old Doll, that sounds like a FANTASTIC way to celebrate the new year!  I'll be doing the "usual" ... the party's at my house so everyone can bring their kids and hang out!  One year we had a wedding to go to on New Years eve... I got so much flack from not having my party... LOL!

Pastor... I had a feeling you might say something as kind as you have.  Sadly, I think this person's whole reason for becoming a member of this forum was simply to attack you and God... that is NOT ok... and I'll believe that is why he was banned, not just because of his outright attack.

Old Doll... well said!

Moderators... awesome job!

Toots ... to keep on topic, I will say again... thank you so much for sharing.  I'm sorry we've hijacked your thread with the nonsense that has come.  Maybe, just maybe there are tons of people that have looked at this thread because if it's negativity and  one or two have found something good from it on accident.  THAT is what the God that I believe in is all about... and in my opinion... what this season is also about.  I'll say, hijacked yes... but think of all the good that can come of it, and it was all because you shared this wonderful song with us.  THANK YOU!

Must be the leprechauns at it again!  I think they're in your computer Old Doll!  If you love looking at pictures, you should join facebook and become one of my facebook friends!  I have more pictures on there than I think people really want to look at!

Well... a lot of our snow has melted (tho there's still a bit there)... but it has gotten colder again.  The ground is finally frozen now (as well as my driveway is like an ice rink... I thought we were going to fix that problem after last winter... oh well).  I think we're in for snow today and tomorrow and we're in for a WARM 33 degrees F on the day after Christmas.  We'll be having a bon fire, chicken bar-b-que and a little snowmobiling at my father's house.  Once all the kiddos are in bed, we'll be adding to that a little drinking, game playing, and hopefully a little guitar!

After the shopping that I did this year online at a highly recommended site (by chordie members)... I have to agree about the toys R us guitars.  If you're going to pay $70 for a junky one there... you could have paid $70 plus shipping for a good one at rondo music.  I wanted to stop people that I saw in the toy store... but I knew they wouldn't listen to me... so I kept going.  I can say from personal experience with the first act brand (that my husband and I stupidly bought my son a few years ago when we didn't know better) that they are pure junk.  The action is so high that it's nearly impossible to fret the simplest chords.  Go to a music store and pay $30 for a lauren for a 3 year old... not great, but still 100 times better than the junk in the toy stores!  Not only that, but on the slightly higher end... I was looking at Squires for my husband... I paid less at rondo and I'm 100% sure I got a whole lot more!!!  No... it's wrapped and still in the box so I can't say for sure... but just the specs are amazing when you compare.  MOM's, DAD's, GRANDPARENTS ... buy toys at Toys R Us... buy guitars at guitar stores!  The toy stores are ripping you off!  smile

WHOOPS!  Sorry about missing Boxing Day!  LOL!  Hey... I tried my best, thanks for the slack Wayne! smile

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays (and Happy December) to all!

Hmmm... I think I'd do without the Goldschlager (ackkk) ... seems like it needs some pepermint schnapps for a "Chiristmas in your mouth".  How about a little Hot Cocoa with some Dr. thrown in?

Jeff... I think most of the Winter Solstice celebrators prefer some homemade wine.  I could be wrong, but most that I know are "hippies of the 2000's" and tend to go with things like that... amongst other various "peace pipe" type celebration sharing if you get my drift!  Have FUN!  smile
