Hi Chuck,

Whilst I thought that the lyrics to your song is fine and had no problem with deciding on a melody for the chorus I did struggle with the verses. This is not a critisism but with a long single chords for the first three lines of the verses it is very difficult to know what your intended melody is. Please, if you can, record this song so that I can hear the melody.

Well done,

Roger

Hi All,

Some of you will remember me mentioning my friend Howard from time to time, a professional musican who owns a music shop. Well he has today gone to Scotland with his wife for a long weekend away and will not be back until next Tuesday.

He has asked me to look after the shop whilst he is away so I have a multitude of guitars which will of course all need tuning and trying out to see that they work OK including a used 1967 stereo Gibson 345 TD on sale at €4499.00. As today is a national holiday in Portugal I am expecting a quiet day to get to know the stock.

It will be hard but I am sure I can manage.......

Hi Lieven,

I have said for many years that there only one song that I wish to be played at my funeral. It is, in fact a hymn, and not a pop song and really is not a funeral song at all, but it has always been my favourite hymn and it suits my romantic nature -  "When A Knight Won His Spurs". For those who do not know this one here is link to it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ue9-gGQqVPM

As I like this so much it is my intention to record it so that I can sing it along with everyone else at my funeral, all Chordians will be invited of course but I hope it will not be for many years yet. lol

Hi Cytania,

Yes the 'Weekend Warriors' search does the trick and nearly 10 minutes of video there. Well done.

You can see from the other links from the Nottingham Evening Post why I was happy to leave the city and come to Portugal.

Anyway, a good performance from all the band members, thank you.

Hi Geo,

Wikipedia has a quite interesting article on the Portuguese guitar, which explains the tuning and the method of playing. The link is:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portuguese_guitar

Sadly I have never had my hands on one so I cannot help in a practical sense.

Hi Jizzwailer and welcome to Chordie,

There are both chords and tabs for the Kris Kristoffersons' version of this song listed on Chordie.

Hi Steve and welcome to Chordie,

I suggest you look up the song on YouTube and watch and copy one of the guitarists. However when there are at least two guitars being played one guitar is NEVER going to sound like them.

Personally as I cannot sing or play like the Pogues (or any one else for that matter) when I perform any song I play it the way that I like to hear it hoping that others have my taste and enjoy my version when I do so.

Hi Zurf,

I find it easier to have the lyrics first and then put music to them. I like to be able to write the music to reflect the feelings of the lyric.

Hi Isaacmacdonald2012 and welcome to Chordie,

This question has been asked many times before and my answer is always the same. If you really want to impress your young lady then write a song yourself for her. This way you you can convey whatever personal message you want to give her and it can be in a style that both of you like.

Why give her a song that has been used and abused by thousands when you can give a song that is unique?

From that list I would say Country, followed by Pop, Rock and Classical.

Hi Saratica,

Welcome to Chordie.

I have copied my reply from another thread which posed a similar question which may help you.

Sorry to hear about this problem but it is almost certainly a problem with your PC and not with Chordie.

I have a similar problem with my HP printer. It will only print the chords when I use the Windows drivers and with the HP drivers it will not. I have set my PC up with two printer profiles, each having the different drivers to overcome my problem. I am not saying that your problem is the same as mine but it is certainly worth looking at your printer drivers.

Thanks Helena,

That is great, so many musicians and a beautiful song.

Peter, Paul and Mary recorded this song as "There Is A Ship" in 1964 and this is probably my all time favourite song.

Hi Russ,

A lovely song and a great recording.

The problem with the chord shape was that you wrote Cma7 instead of Cmaj7. I have taken the liberty of amending your posting, I hope you don't mind.

Hi Sapnu,

Hijacking someone else's thread with a completely unrelated and misplaced enquiry is not the way to get results.

There is a seperate section called 'Song Requests' that is specifically for requesting lyrics, chords and tabs for a song. So please nip there and start your own thread for your request.

Hi Rodney,

Whilst agreeing with everyone else, my slant on this is slightly different.

I would love someone to steal one of my songs and have a huge, monster hit with it. With the publicity I would get from that happening I would be able to name my own price for the next songs I wrote.

Like most people here on Chordie I write and record songs for the sheer pleasure of doing so, but it is good to share them so that others can offer encouragement and constructive critisism to help me improve my efforts.

Roger

HI James,

I particuarly like the chord sequence in this one and the lyrics are great.

The typo at the start of the second verse definitely adds to the song so please do not correct it lol

Hey Ken, you forgot that 'tab' is also slang for ear lol

Here is a link to a tabbed version of 'Tears in Heaven' for Stephan Visser: http://www.chordie.com/chord.pere/www.g … 24813.html

Well done Toney,

I am amazed at what you have been able to accomplish after such a severe accident which would have stopped most people from ever picking up a guitar again. I am so pleased that you are getting the recognition you deserve and I raise my glass to you sir.

Hi Helena,

I hope you are on the mend and will soon be back to your usual self.

Great song, it play very well indeed. Although it is a long time since I let alcohol get the better of me I still remember, and fear, the sensation of losing control of myself. As Ark has already said it is a bad master.

Hi Jeff,

It is surprising what things we can recall from our childhood and your song made me sit back and reflect on some memories from my youth. Thank you.

Hi James,

I remembered this one from when you originally posted it and I am pleased that you have got round to recording it. Great fun song about the dubious delights of getting old.

James I am alway pleasantly surprised by the quality of your "gloriously raw & flawed recordings", they are always very good. Well done.

I am pleased to say that unlike Daddycool I celebrated my 61st last week but I still feel like 21 (sadly I don't look like I am 21). lol
