Welcome to Chordie!  Your list is actually quite large there!
If you go to the the tab above named "public books" then to the link on the left "Absolute Beginner" - you will find songs that members have organized into lists of beginner songs.  I think you may find what you're looking for in these lists.  I am not sure about songs in Spanish however?  Do a little searching and you may find what you're looking for.  My songbook only has 7 songs, but has basic A, D, E, G, C, Dmin, A7 ... titled MKM songbook.  Have fun!

Very fun isn't it?  The best part is that you can go anywhere in the store and pick a guitar off the wall, sit in one of the many seats, and try them out.  Remember if you do and you find something you really like, check out the mom and pop stores for the same guitar and pricing on it too!  I've heard that a REALLY GOOD guitar player can play the WORST instrument in the world and make it sound good.  Good to know that your buzzing is a personal issue tho... you can fix that without messing with the set up!  smile

TonyBlue... sometimes it's just the disks that you're using.  I would try a different brand and see if that solves your problem.  Also, some older CD players (made before burning became popular) just can't handle a burned disk.  Different software "could" help, so I'd take tonynulty up on his offer as well.  Good luck!

We cover a very wide spectrum don't we? But no doctors, lawyers, or rocket scientists, hmmmmm....

Very cool stuff tho, keep 'em coming.

We're a bunch of misfits... that probably are all intelligent enough to have been doctors, lawyers, and rocket scientists!  LOL!  I *almost* went to school for Vet Medicine... I considered law school.  ALMOST doesn't count tho!  ha ha!

Far from a lawyer... but similar in some ways.  I used to work on behalf of BIG companies handling their unemployment claims.  I once participated in a telephone hearing representing one of them.  I was required to fully comprehend unemployment law in every state.  I also was on the flip side of that... a Union Steward at one point making sure my coworkers didn't get screwed over.  I had to completely understand our contract.

You'd be REALLY surprised to find how many companies (hello... HR departments!) and individuals can't comprehend laws and contracts that are designed to help/protect them.

songsterr.com has something similar to what you're talking about... although... it's tabs not chords.  Well... it's really the music written out and played so you can play along.  My husband and son think it's pretty cool... I'm into chords myself tho.  Have fun!

I am first and foremost a mom.  While that doesn't put money on the table, it keeps the money from going off the table by not paying full time babysitters, gas, etc (figured it out, and we wouldn't actually make any money if I was working a regular full time job after job expenses).  Secondly, I'm a cosmetologist.  I have a small salon in my home and work primarily around the kids schedules, by appointment.  I prefer looking at hair as an art form and get really excited about formulating color and comprehending the scientific end of it (what hair, skin, etc is made of... what different chemicals do to the hair, skin etc... and how to use that knowledge to make people look better and have healthier hair, skin etc).  I went back to school for this a few years ago... I was not your "typical cos girl" in high school.  Quite the opposite, I was in accelerated classes and a wee bit of a nerd as I never studied yet graduated top of my class always high honors.   I've done a LOT of odd jobs through the years, primarily customer service related.  I run my own website and my husband's as well.  I don't make much money, but I like to believe I save us a lot in expenses; the kids will grow up and I'll have time to cash in later on!  smile (my husband is a Union Ironworker and Tattoo Artist)

Don't get me wrong guys... I loved the SOUND of composites... but that G string just frayed way too early for me when all I was playing was D, E, A in the very beginning.  Considering the comments... maybe I will try them again now that I can play a bunch of other chords!  smile At the moment, my strings desperately need to be changed... they sound ugly... but I don't want to have to put my guitar down for the time needed for the strings to settle.  I can see how having myself ANOTHER guitar would come in soooo handy right now!  LOL!  Tony... you've got one up on me there!  I'm jealous!  I'd try to play that with a fresh set of strings before going thru adjustments.  You may find with the nylon, even if the action is a little higher than your steel, that it is not a problem to fret.  Just a thought... these guys know WAY more than I do!

Pix... good info about the string material... is there a difference in tone to the two types?  Clear or rectified?  Does one last longer than the other?  As for tension, does it give a different sound or become harder or easier to fret with the different tensions?  I've just stuck with "normal" every time I've bought a set (mind you... I've only bought a few!).

I am unfamiliar with the term "cover." I see it used in the comments all over You Tube. What does it mean?

Thanks,

Gits

I cover means that you are playing the song as it was originally played (maybe with a little twist of your own)... it's not "your own"  original song.  That's why Wayne called it a cover of a cover... he's not playing it the way Gnarls Barkely did... but instead the way Shawn Colvin did!  smile

Happy NGD Tony!  Daddario's were a suggested string to use on my classical (from the manufacturer).  My only advise is to stay away from the silk wound strings.  Daddario calls these "composites".  The core is made of filiments, then wound.  When I had those, my G string frayed and broke long before the rest of the strings lost their tone.  If you're playing a LOT of A, D, E where your finger is CONSTANTLY on that G string on the second fret... it's bound to happen.  With traditional nylon strings the G is all nylon and not wound at all so it won't be an issue.  The low E and A are still nylon core then wound with metal to get that lower bass sound.

I haven't had much luck finding anything local other than Daddario... but when I do find some other brand I will be trying them out!  Just remember, when you change your strings with nylon... they are going to go flat within SECONDS ... so don't expect to play the day you change them (or maybe even the next day).  It takes a good week of tuning each day before they stop stretching out!  I've read about stretching the strings when you first put them on to help with that process, but then I've read not to do that because you could get weak spots in the string.  Make sure  you have some time and patience set aside the first time you do change them however... it's a little tricky, but not too bad!

Shawn White Gold Medal.  Alright.

He is amazing to watch, and even amazing to see that brazen orange hair!  I remember him from the winter X games before snowboarding was an Olympic event.

Lots of fog going on during all the ski events.  CRAZY!  Well, I guess it must be warm there... geez the slopes must be rough!
Everyone was having slower than average speeds on the luge too due to the warmth.  I'm thinking Quebec or Ontario might have been a better choice for these snow events??  Or is it just a bad (warm) winter?

That's awesome Jerr!  Curious, as I just read your other post about the issue with the guy in the band... did you do this birthday party solo?  If so, how did that go for you?  Maybe you already have an answer to the question in your other post... based on your answer to this!  smile

Hey Jerr!  I feel darn honored to be in the list with the rest of the guys, and our Doll of course!  Good to hear you get on now and then and check in on us, even if you don't have the time to post.  Sometimes it's just nice to read and see what's up!  My family is doing well... and I'm approaching my 6 month mark of guitar playing.  It's a GREAT feeling to be able to pick up the guitar and a song I know, but haven't ever played, and be able to fumble through it alright.  My "boys" don't have the same drive for it as I do... so their electrics have been a bit neglected, but they too are coming along slowly.  Good to see ya around!

Congrats on your NGD (new guitar day) Acox!  Whoot Hoot!  Enjoy... happy playing!

Years ago, before my hubby and I were married... he got himself into a debt issue.  He used one of those wallet vampires thinking they'd help him.  In the end... his credit still went into the toilet.  While using these companies the creditors still say horrible stuff about you on your credit report.  It took FOREVER for him to "bank" enough money in his account with the vampire wallets to pay off ONE reduced debt... and of course that reduced debt showed on his credit report for 7 years as having been not paid in full, but exactly what it was ... paid late for years then settled.  Horrid, just horrid.  When we got together and were serious, I was able to look at his statements.  The wallet vampires charged him outrageous fees that were never the same (monthly fees and percentages... they were "banking" his money until there was enough for him to pay something off and they were not paying him interest on any of HIS money they were banking.  You know THEY were collecting interest on it!).  This company ended up going bankrupt... opening in a new name... trying to get him as a customer by claiming they simply changed their name... and further having a class action suit against them (which never did go anywhere).  He lost a lot, a LOT of money... and ended up paying off the remainder of his debt within 4 months of me taking over the issue (if the vampires had still had him, it would have been a few more years at the rate they were going).  His creditors were THRILLED to deal with him personally and negotiate a deal with him rather than the vampires.

Lesson learned... deal with your creditors yourself!  No vampire is going to make a deal that you can't make yourself.  If the creditor won't accept a small amount each month, then put it into a savings account and earn interest on it yourself while they go thru the arrangements to take you to small claims court for the few thousand you owe them.  By the time you get a serious threat in the mail, they'll take what you've banked as a settlement.  I'm not suggesting getting further into debt than you can handle as a good idea, and not suggesting that not paying anything is a great idea either... but if it's not going to keep you from collections, this is an option.  The vampires don't do any more than this for you except for take the extra interest you should be earning and then charge you more on top of it.  Most credit companies will happily close your account once you've reached your credit limit, stop adding overage charges, and accept some form of payment rather than NOTHING.

On another note... if you have non-necessities like cable (and you can afford it, but could really use a little break on the price), call the company up... tell them you're considering shutting it off because the bill is too high... nine times out of ten they'll give you the current "new customer" promo price for the next 12 months.  I just lowered my bill by $30/ month yesterday by doing just that.  Pay minimum balances on your credit cards ON TIME at the very least... late fees can bring your bill up way more than it's worth ($40 late fee in many cases... is it worth $40 extra to you to not pay the minimum that could actually be LESS than the cost of the late fee?).  Pay more on the higher interest items.  Talk to your low interest companies and ask if they'll raise your balance and let you transfer high interest cards to them and then CANCEL that high interest card!

Be proactive, not reactive.  Dig out slow... times will change... and if your debt is that bad, by all means... shut the lights off more often, lower the thermostat by a few degrees, take shorter showers, read library books instead of renting movies, cancel the television service and go out and exercise instead, pick up a babysitting job (there's tons of parents out there in bad $$ shape looking for cheap quality childcare that would love to give you a small amount of cash to play with their kids during the times that you're sitting at home anyway), OH... and take a few minutes each night de-stressing about the money problems by playing your guitar!

Wayne, that was AWESOME!  I couldn't understand everything... some of those country drawls are mighty strong for this yankee... I LOVED seeing the hairstyles and clothing styles... and well, the music goes without saying.  Fantastic!  Thanks for sharing!

Well... this isn't a "non playing" exercise, but it's good for stretching your fingers while using the guitar.  And again, it's from the infamous justinguitar.com
