A mixture of pure fiction and fact went into this song, another sad love song. Many thanks to Helena for her help in completing it.

Hi Jeff,

Playing your song reminded me of when Sue and I were first married and we had very little cash too, but with a few scraps of chicken, some veg and suet and Sue could make an awsome chicken stew and dumplings that makes my mouth water just to think of it and it is close to 40 years since I last tasted it.

Great song, thank you,

Roger

Hi Oldsymo,

Sorry I do not know this song and I cannot help you but I just wanted to pop in and welcome you to Chordie. There are members of all ages and skills and I hope someone can come up with the goods for you on this one.

Hi Kenny,

I thought I had misunderstood, my only excuse is that I cannot get my pinky to reach the low E whist playing Am, hmm sorry.

As Ark has pointed out you cannot always get Chordie to show the actual variation of the chord but the chords are still Am7 and Am6 whether the extra note is played on the high e or the low E.

Anyway now I know what to play I have given it a run through and I do like the lyrics and the chord sequence although I am abit unsure about the extra chords at the end. This is probably down to my interpretation so I would like to hear your version to comment properly on the ending but well done.

Hi Daddycool,

Another one to keep you in favour, well done.

You have got me intrigued though, so I think you next one should be about your wedding, the two receptions and of course the highlight - the family feud.

Thank you,

Roger

Hi Kenny,

If for the Am7 you mean xx0003 that is in fact G
And for Am6 you mean xx0002 that is Gmaj7

I may have misinterpreted your meaning but to define what I have written, the low E is on the left and the high on the right. X = not played, 0 = played open and the number indicates which fret the string is played.

Hi Scott and welcome to Chordie,

A fine first offering to the Forum, the lyrics are great and have a nice rhythm and flow. The chord sequence G Bm Am7 C G sounds good too.

If I may offer a suggestion, I felt that it could do with a chorus to give break and change of chords. However it is always difficult interpreting someone else's work from just the lyrics and chords so I may be wrong but this is one of the reasons that I, and others, try to persuade Members to record their songs. It does not matter if you are not the world greatest singer or player as long as others can hear the tempo, style and melody it is easier to assess the song. Sometimes what does not look good written down can sound fantastic interpreted the right way.

When recording is mentioned I always think of Alex (Scrimmy82) whose first recordings were done with just a £5.99 microphone from a supermarket but it was good enough to convey what was needed.

I look forward to seeing, and hearing, more from you, thank you,

Roger

Hi Phill,

Great song from you as usual, I hope we will hear a recording of it soon, well done.

Roger

By the way you should not put phrases in the square brackets, only the chords, as it fouls up the formatting. If you look you will see the it has converted chorus into cborus

Hi Kerry,

I have looked at your profile and I temporarily changed your real name to Kerry BlueSky and back again with no problem.

Chordie however does work slightly differently for Adminstrators than Members so I am wondering if anyone else is having this problem. If so it will be one for Per to sort out or maybe it is something with your PC. I remember that KAP54 was having a problem logging off and it turned out to be something to do with the cookies on his PC.

Sorry I cannot be more helpful at this time,

Roger

Hi Riverdales,

I did not check "Yesterday "until just now and I see what you mean. It bears the same message that appeared on the Coldplay "Yellow" mentioned in a thread in About Chordie.

I know that Per (Chordie's founder) is very busy at the moment but I am sure he will be looking at this and let us know as soon as he is able. Until then please be patient and keep an eye on the About Chordie section of the Forum as any information about this will appear there.

Sorry I am a day late with this so it is a belated 4th July greeting to all my American cousins both known and unknown. I did have a few beers to celebrate with you last night so I am playing my guitar quietly today.

Roger

PS You can keep the tea as I dislike it anyway lol

PPS. Ken, as I understand it the Scottish MPs can vote on what happens in England but the English ones cannot vote for what happens in Scotland so that must be one up for the Scots.

Hi Sanguine,

I am pleased that you had a great time experimenting with equipment it really sounds like had fun and have given yourself more impetus to play. I know that Southpaw41L is a big fan of looping and uses it at his gigs but it is something I have yet to try. I guess you will be visiting more often now.

Looking at your signature you must be related to Russell Harding he is addicted to ice cream lol

Hi Riverdales,

I have just looked at The Beatles songs. I clicked on the 'All Songs' button at the top of the page and then looked at songs where there were several versions listed and there are 'tabbed' versions of their songs. If however there is anything specific that you are unable to find please let us know.

Hi Kenny,

I keep these links in My Favourites. The first is what I think you are asking for just type in the chord name and it will show you the fingering and different variations of the chord.:

http://www.all-guitar-chords.com/index.php

This second one will tell you the name of a chord if you indicate on which fret the string is pressed:

I hope that helps,

Good song Jeff stirring up some happy memories. Strangely enough the song I am working on at the moment us about a school days romance but in a completely different context to yours. I hope to get it completed and recorded next week.

Hi Rik,

If this song takes between 3 and 4 minutes to play then that is absolutely fine. One reason that I try and persuade Members to record their songs is that there is a vast difference between what you can write down and the reality of the song.

In the past there have been instances where two people have recorded the same song from just the chords and lyrics and it is interesting to hear the difference in tempo, style and melody that emerges.

A cheap microphone plugged into your PC can produce a good enough recording to let everyone hear how you intendedyour song to be and I run Friends of Chordie on MySpace for any Chordie Members who want somewhere to place their recordings.

DULY

As for the guitar my advise is always the same. Get to your local stores and try them out to find what suits you as you are the one who will have to play it. There are some very good cheaper guitars around these days so make a day of it and have fun. Don't forget to try them connected to an amp as well as playing unplugged.

Hi Daddycool,

If 'she who must be obeyed' is angry and/or moody this must surely put her in a good mood and you in good books. So sing it to her.

Lovely song and sentiment. Thank you.

Hi Temus,

I love the F#m to Bsus2 and the C#m to Dsus2 changes although I found it a little difficult to find a melody in places so I too look forward to hearing how you intend the song to be. The lyrics are good too.

Russell's comment about the spacing is the one drawback with chopro when you have many long chord names in few lyrics so there is nothing you can do about it.

Thank you, well done and please hurry up with the recording.

Hi Rik and welcome to Chordie,

Your song is a little short but it gets the message across.

I do think that you should record it so we can hear it as it should be. Well done and thank you.

Hi Linus,

I liked your song, well what I could play of it. I have a problem with songs that I do not know and that is I cannot play and sing when the chords are not with the lyrics so I could only part of yours but I did enjoy it. Thank you.

Hi Bonedaddy,

Great to get inspiration for a song from a discussion in the Chat section. I love the Dsus2, Dsus4, D progression, well done.

Kenny, I was in Canada a few years ago and I discovered Moosehead, the best beer I have ever tasted, my taste buds are getting excitied just writing about it. Nice to hear you are conquering the fear of the mic. Perhaps we will soon hear your recordings of your songs.

Belated Happy Birthday greetings to Jerome and Nela I hope you celebrated your birthdays well and without any after affects.

Dino, sooner than give it away do what my mother did when she reached 80. She decided that was old enough for anyone and would become a year younger each birthday thereafter. She celebrates her 74th this year.
