I am 61 but still think I am 16, looking for a 19 year old, 6ft tall, blonde girlfriend .
Been playing the guitar on and off for 50 years and still learning.

These chords are 100% accurate I am pleased to say as this song has 3 different verse variations. I too think that this is a great song and I am learning it too.
Roger
Phill,
So nearly there the formatting 'switch on' song in square brackets was missing from the beginning and the 'switch off' /song had curly brackets instead of square brackets.
Roger
Zurf a four string Bm chord is easier played xx4432. Full barre is 224432 (Am moved up two frets)

Now this is a little naughty of me but I have to do it.
I asked William to tell us a little about himself and he replied by private e-mail but I do not have his permission to use it so if he shouts at me I will remove it.
I am even more amazed at the quality of his songs after I read this. What do you think?
No i don`t play the guitar at all i just got the chords from a book and with
trial and error and a lot of frustration i finally managed to get the right
chords.i play drums in a little band back home but mostly i just sing. i`m 40,
6`3 ,14st and live in derry city in the north of ireland on the border with
donegal.likes..football man utd fan, country music, meeting people and writing a
song or two.thankfully i`ve met a lot of the people i`ve always wanted to
meet, ricky skaggs, gene watson, garth brooks and reba mcentire. Been very lucky
to have been in the right job or right place.Been a coach driver and took the
Barcelona team on tour here when they where in ireland. Actually got to sit in
the dug-out with them during matches and be in the dressing room at
half-time.Anything you want to know just ask.thanx for the feedback and keep in
touch.
Hope you don't mind William,
Roger
Great recording as always James,
Thank you,
Roger
Thanks Daddycool.
Phill that is my problem - always too late.
Thanks Ark, after a few mini adventure T.T. (my cat) and I are settled in the Algarve again. The main problem with the traffic noise is if emergency sirens go off, I can cope with general traffic noise.
Roger
YES this form of "F" is movable up and down the fretboard. Try the "finger roll mentioned above to get from C to F then hold that position and slide everything down 2 frets to G. And practice, practice, practice. Once you have the "F" chord mastered and are proud of yourself you can look forward to the MEAN and NASTY "B" chord!
Nela
Nela F to G is normally considered going up the keyboard and not down, but that is not the reason for this message. Take the F shape up to the 7th fret and you have the dreaded B.
Roger
Tim, the chord you were playing was in fact Fmaj7 so it is very close although somewhat darker than F but if it helps and works then it is a good idea.
Roger
Hi Kenny,
Go to: http://www.usersmanualguide.com
Look and click for Yamaha keyboard and then look down the list for your PSR2000 manual and you should be able to download it.
Sorry about the convoluted way of getting you there but the url for the actual manual does not seem to work.
I hope that helps.

Hello Meaghan or maybe I should call you heartbreaker (Colin AND Brad?)
Welcome to Chordie.
If you go to the bottom of the song you will see the message 'Please Improve This Song'. if you click on there it will take you into the editing mode. Please make sure that you have it all OK before you do. It is often better to transfer it your songbook first so you can take your time getting it correct and then copy and paste to the original.
Roger
Hi Learnguitar and welcome to Chordie,
The question you ask is impossible to answer without knowing the particular song you are trying to play as chord can be played for a very short time or for several bars. I answered a similar question about learing to to play a song in another thread in this way:
When you are learning to play the guitar it is important that you start by only playing songs that you know really well and preferably with few chords in it. (In the 50's and 60's there were many songs with just three or four chords but there are fewer, I think, today).
Start by just stumming the chord on a down stroke and at one beat per bar. Sing along with the song to get familiar with the changes. Then when you are happy with the changes, put down your guitar. Listen to a recording of the song or play in in your mind and at the same time tap your right hand on your thigh in time to the music, not just a steady beat but vary it to go along with the song. Then pick up your guitar and convert that rhythm that you just tapped out into a strumming pattern.
OK I know it is easier said than done but I hope that helps.
Roger
Hi William,
Another good song from you which I finger picked and it sounded good to me. As with the others I liked the lyrics too.
Now we have had two songs from you but nothing else so please let us know a little about yourself. Do you play guitar and/or another instrument? Have you been playing long? Do you intend to record your songs for us to hear?
I, for one, am a naturally nosey person and I like to get to know fellow musicians.
Thank you,
Roger
Hi Max and welcome to Chordie,
Further to KAP's comments you can also use a capo to change the guitar's key. Some songs and styles of playing just do not sound right using different chord shapes. I perform one song with the capo on the 7th fret just so I can keep the open Am key chord shapes for the song to sound right, although I need it in Em to suit my voice.
As for your singing. Like any other disipline it takes practice, practice and even more practice. It is a good idea to record yourself singing and play it back so you can then listen critically and look for improvement. Also your recorded voice is the one everyone hears except yourself. You hear yourself internally and not so much through your ears so it is usually very different to what you expect.
Roger
Hi Balingup and welcome to Chordie,
I think that you will find it is not the likes of Eric Clapton or any other artist that is afraid of us playing their songs. It is generally the publishers that hold the copyright for the lyrics that are trying to wave the big stick.
It is obviously not possible to find out but I wonder how many extra records are sold because a song has been heard performed by an amateur or semi-pro musician and the listener then want to hear the original. I think that most artists would be pleased if others are covering their songs.
I may be wrong but that is my point of view.
Roger
Hi James,
Although I have few regets I have looked in the mirror and I reckon that I must be at least halfway to having wisdom
Great song and I shall look out for the recording with pleasure. Thank you.
Roger
Hi Phill,
Not the easiest of chords in this song and I would need some practice to get it fluent but I particularly like the sound of the Gm, Fsus, F change. As for the lyrics, well anyone who has been parted from their child and has limited access can relate to them.
I hope we will get to hear it in the not too distant future.
Thank you,
Roger
Phill the formatting off switch {/song} at the end was wrong it should be [/song] and you omitted the formatting on switch which should appear at the very start and this is the same as the off switch but without the '/' (I cannot write it as it will start the formatting).
I took the liberty of correcting this for you and also added the 'st:' which was omitted before your name. Please go into edit and see the changes.
Roger
Hi William and welcome to Chordie,
It is very odd to be singing about Christmas dressed in just shorts and sandals wondering how to cool down. Nevertheless it is a great Christmas song and I shall have to make a note so I can find it again in six month's time. Thank you and well done,
Roger
Phill, if you just remove the brackets from around 'chorus', 'verse' and 'repeat chorus' the words will remain but be in black and the spelling will not be altered to 'cborus'.
Roger
Hi Phill,
The idea behind this song is pure fiction but I used my memories of a young lady I used to know to add reality to it. The young lady I met at secondary school (aged 11) and we were good pals, no more. We both went to college and in our late teens and went out for a while but it did not work out and we went out seperate ways. The rest is fantasy, but I do like the sad love songs even though I am perfectly happy. The only lady in my life at the moment is T.T., my cat.
By the way, although I have got moved there is still plenty to do to get the place ship shape, so you do not need to hold back, you are more than welcome to come and help .
Roger
Kenny I have had tinnitus (I think that is the right spelling) for a number of years. I am told mine, and my partial deafness, was caused by shooting a lot from a early age and not wearing ear protection.
Most of the time I can ignore it and I do not realise I have it, that is until I am made to think of it and of course it is ringing away like mad at the moment. Once I pick up my guitar or get involved in doing something it will fade away, well not really fade away as it is always there but it will not be in my conscious mind.
Roger
HI Jeff,
I have just recieved an e-mail from Sue, who regularly visits the Forum and folllows what is happening. She was quite amused to find her cooking mentioned and I have been assured by Paul, her husband, that she still make a darn good stew and dumplings although with better, and more ingredients, these days.
Roger
Thank you Helena, Kenny and Jeff for your comments.
Helena. Whether you helped with one verse, one line or one word it does not matter. You re-wrote the last verse which was cumbersome and I re-wrote your verse to my style of writing so credit where credit is due.
Kenny. I recorded this in my caravan awning, unfortunately my move has put me very close to a main road and a railway line so background noise can be a problem. I use a programme called Band-In-A-Box to create my basic backing track and generally remove all instruments except drums, bass and strings. I then overly this with my playing, in this case electric guitar, acoustic guitar, autoharp and backing vocals. Finally I will lay down the lead vocals.
Thank you again,
Roger
