Here's my go at The Weight.
I was going to record Wish You Were Here last month but MOJO1 nailed it so well that I decided to let it slide.
I'm going to pass on Jack And Diane...can't fit any harp into it, so far.

good job on the weight, lol but that is a lame excuse for not doing wish you were here

hope it goes well bill, I am over due for my next one. because of family history I have had  the pleasure of doing it every three years  since I was 40 .the last two were clear so I was lucky and got to extend it to four years

was sitting here back in my room tonight here at work looking at pictures of the new grandbaby and playing around with the guitar and this just kind of came out. Tried to attach a photo of the little cutie not sure if its going to work https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid … amp;type=3

capo third fret
G                                                     C
seems like only yesterday we brought your mama home
G                                               C
was it over twenty years oh how the time has flown
G                                      C
but time goes on and here you are as pretty as can be
G                                                           C
you wash away my troubles and give life some clarity

chorus
D                                            C                   G
may life always bring you joy and happiness
D                                             C                        G
and I will always love you until my dying breath

your innocence and beauty all rolled into one
the light you bring into my life it out shines the sun
and though I may be miles away your always in my heart
I always think about you when ever were apart

chorus

you put a song in my soul and make my spirits fly
I will always love you bigger than the sky
some day soon the day will come and I just fade away
I only hope that in your heart my memory will stay

chorus

way to go, I am jealous. it gets a little harder every trip leaving home. all the best to you.

Zelie: Secret Botanical Name
Azélie-Marie Guerin was born in 1831 in a tiny French village. She considered religious life, but ultimately married.

She and Louis Martin raised a family, including the future Saint Thérèse of Lisieux. Therese is one of the most well-known and widely admired saints of the modern era. Her writings were published posthumously as Story of a Soul.

Both Monsieur and Madame Martin have been beatified, and will be canonized in October 2015, meaning that the Catholic Church will soon have a Saint Zelie.

Azelie is the French word for Azalea, making Zelie a subtle nature name.

this is the story of my life working in the oil field, I wrote a few lines that were for people in the military but I took them out because I was never in the military all except for one line ( I don't have any tattoos)I just felt like that was a whole separate story to be told. I don't think people appreciate the hardships family's go through when the job takes people away from  home for long periods of time. there are trade offs for the rewards and I would not trade my experience for anything. it takes a special kind of woman to handle the life that goes with a man that that is gone from home to make living. and I am blessed to have such a woman waiting for me when I get home. lol like beamer said I don't know if she could stand me if I was home all the time

here is the first run at recording it

this may or may not be the final version will try to make  recording and get it posted tomorrow

Em                          G              D           Em      G   D
one long day and six more lonely nights
Em                          G               A                   Em      G    A
that's how long before my home bound flight

long time gone and a long long way from home
to many miles now I'm weary to the bone

done my time and I've over paid my dues
its left these scars its left me these tattoos

to many nights with out my woman to hold
for the almighty dollar has my soul been sold

I chose this life its the only one I know
a heavy price to pay I suppose

I told my wife got to do just one more tour
how much more can her love endure

six long months she waits at home alone
with nothing but a voice on the phone

when my plane lands I walk back through the door
its a smiling face when my bags hit the floor

it wont be long ill be on the road again
its what I do ill be home when I can

it pays my bills and keeps my family fed
don't want no nine to five id rather be dead

so hit i the road and head for parts unknown
wait for me and love me when I get home

one long day and six more lonely nights
that's how long before my home bound flight
