Welcome to the greatest place on the net. Lots of great folks hangout here, I know you're going to love it too. I also started playing guitar at 14 and now I'm 60. I did put it down for a few years but for the last 25 years it's been more fun than ever. I tell many young people I meet to learn guitar. It's something your can do your entire life. Keep rocking , and visit with us again.

The Postal Service is issuing a Johnny Cash stamp later this week. I'm not a big stamp collector, I do have a few. I am a Johnny Cash fan so I'll pick up a couple.

Art, I had a similar experience many years ago. I wrote a song about it . Don't let it get you down. As Pete said, take the good with the bad ,learn from it and keep moving forward. It's all part of the journey and paying your dues. I know you'll grow from this experience and only get better. Good Luck in the future.

Congrats on giving a history lesson to those young folks in your community. Very cool that you had a family member with a history in a very important part of the making of the US. I wish I could have been there to enjoy your presentation. Keep working on your Civil war recording project it sounds fasinating. I get to spend my summers in Wyoming and I visit a lot of sites and take a lot of notes on what I see. From that I start to write songs. Most times the songs don't get written until I get back home and I have time to look thru my notes and let my brain digest all the info. I think while you are there looking at your subject in real life you have so much going on in your mind that most times what you want to say can't find it's way out. Any way Koodoo's to you Ed.

I didn't know that. Tho I did know she was from Alaska.
Joe
Art, Keep it up. The more you get out in front of people the more confidence you'll build. Then you'll be hooked and will want to do it more and more. Cheers to you.
I've been to the Tetons a few times but spend a lot of time east of there in the Big Horns.Beautiful country.

Galena is a very interesting little town. Your wife will like the shops. I liked the little pubs where you could get a brew or two while shopping. And as Balddude says if you go to Michigan for steelhead you have to stop by Elderly Music in Lansing ,Michigan. Soooooo many guitars and so little time. Whereever you trip leads you, enjoy !
Joe
I'm on the same page as Zurf. Throw in Townes Van Zandt ,Ian Tyson andBob Dylan. These guys are some of the best songwriters ever .
Joe
Nao, to me there is one advantage to buying a good used guitar. If you buy a solid wood guitar as most people know, the more you play it the better it will sound. The aging process makes them just sound better and the more you play the better it will get. Hopefully when you find one it has been played a lot, not abused and some of that aging process has been done for you. Now once you get it ,it's already sounding a little better and you carry on the process. That's just my opinion.

Jason, I agree with Songster on the Danelectro's. I have a Danelectro chorus pedal that I love. I get all the sounds I need from it. It's sturdy and you can't beat the price. And no problems with them . I'm going to get a few more of these.
Joe
Art, I agree with Pete. Play it where you are comfortable singing it. Capo or no capo or capo to a higher or lower spot on the fretboard. You may even consider transposing to a key easier for you to sing in. Too many people get hung up on playing a song in the original key. Just do whereever it works best for you. Just have Fun!!!!
Joe
I'm sure guitars were created so guitarists couldn't rule the earth.
Joe
I agree with Zurf , the first place I would look is at humidifiying your guitar. It's a cheap fix if it works. This time of year guitars do dry out and I've found this seems to be the case with me.
Just a starting point. Lets us know what turns up.
Joe
Davev, Thanks . I'll have to check them out.
Joe
I wouldn't let them touch the replacement guitar. Just tell them you changed your mind and don't want to install one. Then find another shop to do the work. At least they are going to replace the one they damaged. Good luck.
Joe
Davev, Where did you find your new Dr28 ? Not many dealers in the U.S. and the factory has not been any help. I hate to let a good instrument get away but without much info I guess I might look elsewhere.
Joe
Has anyone had any experience with the new Sigma guitar Line ? I had an older 12 string model that played very nice. I'm thinking of getting one with electronics because they're cheaper than the Martin line. I don't need another high priced guitar to bang around with.
I've tried emailing the company twice to find out if I can get electronics on the two models I'm interested in. So far no answer from factory. I'm not impressed.
