MKM,
I think the Pearl affects the wallet more than the sound.

Dirty Ed,
I hope it was not my mention of the word "hype" that almost caused the coffee spillage. I'm not saying there is hype just referring to a previous posters use. Martins makes fine instruments and one day I aspire to own one.

MKM,
While there might be some hype surrounding Martin guitars, a fine guitar is a fine guitar and the 15 series have hit the bullseye for fineness. Everyone I've ever played has been impressive. And for me the blingless appearance is a big positive. Understated, elegant, lovely, and that sound: Wow. Enjoy. Maybe you can put something on YouTube?

p.s. If I had to pick ONE guitar, a Martin 15 series would be it.

Make that a great DAY. More playing throughout the day. What pollen?

Indeed! Great song. Great performance. Thanks for sharing.

With the pollen count over 9,000 in Atlanta I cannot take to the porch like many on this forum so I remain inside. I have been downloading free guitar lessons to my Mac Book all week via Garage Band. This morning I forced myself to try a few and NOT fall into my old rut of playing the same old things. It was difficult and took some thought but I did learn a new riff and gained some confidence with my rhythm.

By the way, for those with Apple computer, Garage Band is an excellent tool. It comes loaded on Apple products.

Lucky You! Play as much as you can. Maybe he'll recognize your zeal and talent and offer to trade for a while?

Brilliant! I am very happy for you. I love the 000-15M. Enjoy.

Georgia is beautiful as well. Maybe a little too much pollen but beautiful nonetheless.

Interesting as the 335BL and the SJ-180 (and the F310) are all-laminate construction so I'd expect them to sound "similar". I do know the SJ-180 is a great guitar. I agree with Zurf on the modifications he recommends.

I know. I know. GET BACK TO PLAYING! I can hear Zurf now.

My latest line-up. All Recording Kings. The middle one is a 12-fretter which doubles as my travel guitar.

This is my first photograph upload. Look out Chordie!

Oh, and the NGD? It's the 000 Sunburst. I have been wanting a 000 guitar for some time and this one just became available pre-owned of course.

I will consider most any guitar. That's too bad as I should be playing.

I think it's aways warranted to buy another guitar.

Now THAT's funny. I don't care who you are.

I use my digital camera to shot the video. This captures both audio and video. Then I transfer the file to my PC. From there one must have a YouTube account to upload.

Yes, by our calculations we live about twenty minutes apart which, in Atlanta, means an hour or so.

Top down,
Great story and how true. I’ve had similar experiences although I was not the one singing and playing. For the last five years my job requires me to travel to Eastern Europe quite often.

A few years ago I had one of those magical events that will be a fond memory for as long I survive. I was in Sighnaghi, Georgia (the Country of Georgia) at a vineyard for a feast, etc. It was a perfect Fall day and the sun was setting, the food was good, and the music: local. Here’s a short video of part of the moment.

I’ve been told “all Georgians sing and dance"  and I have found that to be true. Wonderful people and expressive in their own way. The Georgians consider guests a “Gift from God"  and  have always found that to be true as well.

I think I was more excited than he was! His knowledge and beginner status can best be illustrated by the fact he asked me if the D-15 was a dreadnought.

I've been at this three years. I've got the basic chord changes down and can kludge together some interesting progressions and sounds. BUT when I try to play a real song I am lost when it come to rhythm. A few songs I can do by ear but when looking at the tabs, etc for a song I am less familiar with I have no clue how to strum the rhythm so the song sounds awful or at least unfamiliar, I get frustrated and move on to something more familiar which means I am not progressing.

So, after ignoring all recommendations and common sense about using a metronome, here I am trying to use one. Holy cow, I must have got my sense of rhythm from Al Gore! (Picture him clapping.) I can barely maintain a steady down stroke only strumming at 60 BPM. Simply right? If I can maintain rhythm how I can ever expect to play a song other than maybe jazz or much less play with others?

I fear THIS might be next big step and a difficult one at that. This will be difficult but necessary. Should I start by just tapping my leg along with my right hand? That's how remedial I am.

Chordie and coffee. Almost everyday!

Each forum has its own personality. I've always found Chordie to  be open-minded, nonjudgmental, and supportive.

Oh, and remember, everyone is someone else's weirdo.
