A few years ago I ordered some new equipment from Musicians Friend. One of the items I ordered was a 65 watt amp by a company called Drive. When the stuff finally arrived I realized  that there was no footswitch with the Drive amp. No big deal I'll call Musicians Friend and bring it to their attention and get hooked up with it. Wrong. We don't have that accessory I was told. You will have to contact Drive and request it from them. Well I found their website and discovered there is no way to order anything from them directly and they don't list products, parts, or accessories. Does anyone out there know of these amps or any place that sells them. Despite no footswitch I really like the amp as it has a wide range of tones and settings along with built in delay and flange. Any help would be great.

Not being very computer literate I'm not sure of the reason, but I can't log off of this site. I click on log off and I get kicked right back to my Chordie home page. I'm not complaining, just curious. Any suggestions?

I never had any particular way of preparing to play "live". All you can do is get your soundcheck down, (remember, big auditorium=louder amp settings=greater possibility for feedback) and go out and do the best you can. If the thought of a lot of people freaks you out, concentrate on just the first few rows and play to them. This may sound difficult but in a darkened room it's easier than it sounds. It sound like you're familiar with the song so you should do alright as long as you don' freeze up or freak yourself out.Any way, lots of luck and go get 'em

trying to break out of the rut of "sounding the same on every song" can be extremely frustrating. I went through much the same thing when I first started. My roommate played and I started to pick up his guitar and learn a few things. He was almost totally country where I was mostly rock and roll. As a result I tended to play rock with a country type style( rather interesting concept but not what I really wanted to do) I got around this by hooking up with other more advanced players and imitating what they did(no online video lessons in those days) Eventually I got to the point where I could seperate the country style I had picked up while learning during my first year and could play whatever style I needed. Listen to the songs you want to learn and follow along with them, hookup with more advanced players and follow along, eventually you will be able to play different styles and they won't all sound the same. LOL

Ive been playing for many years and have the same problem. During my stints with different bands I found that a book of index cards with chord progressions for the song along with some of the lyrics and bridges is an excellent way to keep me straight. These work well because of the small size and also because you can carry several with you. You can make one for different genres of music or with just what you plan to play at each performance. I find that the ones with lined white pages work the best as they don't wash out from colored lighting and are easier to read at low light levels. If you're using them for a performance you can keep them in the order you want for each set and if you have to change song order it is fairly simple to go through them quickly. You may be amazed at how infrequently you have to refer to them as you get used to playing each song. After all most of us have too much going on or are just getting a little forgetful to be able to remember all the nuances of a hundred plus songs. Hope this is helpful. Now what was I just saying...

here you go crizzut. you can find the tab at www.totaltabs.com. You have to register to use this site but it's free and has a lot of stuff. Good luck

my son is a a lefty and he has learned to play righthanded. To be able to reverse the strings  the nut should be changed and also the intonation should be adjusted. It is possible for some one to do this themselves but if you're not handy using small tools you should probably take it to a shop

my ovation is from the same time frame as yours and I have numerous cracks in the finish. I look at them as being the same as the wrinkles that have appeared on my face in the last 20 odd years. I have no intention of having them repaired as they don't affect the sound and they add character and show the world that here is an instrument that has seen some use but has not been abused. I don't worry too much about the humidity issue, if you keep it in the house and in its case the humidity level and temperature should be fairly constant. Although if this is a concern for you monitor the humidity level and take the proper steps to keep it constant.

Hi and welcome to Chordie. My advice to you would be to look for an Applause from Ovation. These are a very good and inexpensive guitar that offers you the ability to go from acoustic to electricsimply by plugging in. Although I don't own an Applause(I have an Ovation) I have played them and tone wise they sound like an Ovation, the neck is narrower than a traditional acoustic and they play beautifully. Check out MusiciansFriend online. I have purchased from them in the past and they are a great company, good return policy and good values. Los of luck and keep on strummin

just checked out that site. Most of those are "knock offs", although there were afew that had major names on the headstocks. I would say that these are probably decent guitars, but I would expect them to be of a fairly low quality. If anybody decides to buy one of these, post a review and let us know how it is. Just remember, a $60 - $100.00 axe is usually just that

just turned 51 last month, sometimes I feel like I'm eighteen(then I sober up) play mostly stuff from the 60's,thru 80's.Mostly rock but throw a little country in there to break it up. My kids range from 30 to 13 and all play at varying levels. I've done the band scene and solo gigs now I play for myself.

My youngest is interested in learning drums. Anybody know of any good sites where he can find lessons, tab,or any kind of help? It would be pretty cool for him to learn as a drummer in the family would pretty well round out the "band". Thanks

most of the dirt or crud you see on your fretboard and strings is caused by the oil in your skin and dust and dirt in the air. I always wash my hands before playing and wipe the string and fretboard down afterward. I've used some different cleaners in the past and found that Windex or a similar cleaner works well. I would suggest you change out the strings and wipe the fretboard down, apply a light coat of Pledge or a similar product and restring. Dirty strings will affect the sound of your guitar and a dirty fretboard will affect how easily your guitar plays(not to mention the black streaks on your fingers). After you get used to doing this it becomes automatic and your strings will last longer. And don't be intimidated about changing strings, after you do it a few times you should be able to have it done in 15 minutes or so

I have a Dan-Electro ,a Rouge Strat copy, and my favorite is my 20+year old Ovation. There are several guitars I want but the wife says no more toys
