If I were Prince Harry, unless he doesn't already know how, I would learn to play guitar, piano and /or any other musical instrument, publish and record some songs and get out amongst the people - his people, and entertain them. I mean, it's not as if he'll ever have to worry about getting the Crown - or is it?

I am sure there'd be all kinds of "Royal Rumblings", but if I read my British history correctly, he wouldn't be the only Royal to have composed and performed his music.

Well, maybe not in public, but still. What thinkest thou, my fellow peasants, troubadors and jesters?

NO idea why I cannot post on SoundCloud, but here, Pete is what I wrote:

"What a beautiful lullaby, Pete! The idea of the children's choir is a great one and I suggest you contact a school or nearby church and have them sing a chorus. So proud of you for this and all you create, my brother! Keep it up!"

Always thinking about you, dear friend. As I have said before, this is my family - albeit online and that we'll probably never meet. I know you through your words and music and I believe most of you would agree with me that music is the best way to know someone. I'm on the way to listen to your latest work. Just know you're missed when you're gone for a bit. That's "family" for ya.

Jim beat me to it. The only thing I can add is it (Chordify) has a uke mode.

This is the one I have chosen for my additional listen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nj5juZctCGE...... As a matter of fact this is my third listen and Dondra's first. I read some of the comments, Rick, and I agree: very spiritual and calming. Looks like you chose that one for me to hear as well! smile. I am now on my way to listen to hear the second choice you listed. I am glad I listened more than once. Thanks for this awesome choice for your "Prog Rock" page and thanks also for the explanation of what I was hearing, CG! smile

Aha! Thank you, Sir. I thought I was listening to some kind of dialect. Just wasn't sure which one. I will search for more from "Iona", because a voice that beautiful needs more attention than just one listen. I shall return after I do that and then let you both know which song I have listened to.

Thanks

So the language being sung is Tribal Irish (is there such a thing). I guess what I'm trying to say is, I couldn't understand that beautiful voice and the lyrics were in -- what -- Spanish? And live in London?

Mystifying. Maybe I'm missing it, but being a drummer primarily, I could have used a key sig. Based on what I just wrote, CG and TF, can you discern that I need to hear more from this group before saying I like them?

Zurf, thank you! That photo will make a great "intro" page for the  "Abandoned Motels" section!

Paul especially. Listen at about 1:50. The song is called "Till There Was You" (from the play and movie "The Music Man").

Have any of you ever been in the position of playing a song, played it beautifully, but then looked at each other with "lost" looks as if to say, "Oh God! How're we going to end this thing?" Well, Paul shows they must have practiced that ending numerous times before they got it just right. It sounds tricky (to a drummer) because he comes in on an off-beat (please correct terminology) and there you go: Perfect set-up for the ending.

That "intricacy" comes out again (unsuccessfully) in the song "September In The Rain" with its sloppy ending.

Well, sure. There were mistakes. Pete Best rushing the beat (but thankfully staying away from most of the "fills", is one I noticed. Some of the lyrics, etc.

Paul also shows his vocal ability - unafraid to let that little bit of vibrato come out.

But Deccca still rejected them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GoZofvIcXOE&t=86s  The guy who "fell on his sworsd" appears in the video just above. He says he's feeling"better now".

The Ventures were always a bigger "hit" in Japan than they were here, Doug. They constantly filled their venues with their fans: old and young. I have a theory about why an instrumental group would have such a following: Their unique sound, of course; those "in time" dance steps they sometimes used, and finally, their smiles!  All four of them looked genuinely happy to be onstage for their fans. I don't know if all of them did this, but I'm sure at least two of them learned the language.

Mel Taylor, the drummer and co-founder. - passed  and was replaced by his son Leon, and Don Wilson - one of the founders died this past March from heart complications. WiKi has more on The Ventures if you are interested: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ventures and there are other concert versions on YT as well.

Enjoy!

TF, that's great information, thanks. That's a major part of  being in this family:  sharing information such as this. Many's the time I have done exactly that, so thank you.

About Kim:  I have some friends (more of a family, really) who would make far better "ambassadors" than Dennis Rodman. Just think: what if the guy does play guitar a little, but is so intent on showing what a great leader he is that he doesn't want to show any inadequacies?  So we petition the us government and the governments of your respective countries to give us some money for plane fare, hotel and other incidentals, and send a bunch of you other for there and teach hom "The Chordie Way"? Who knows,? Music has so many ways to affect us all, it may be just what he needs. _ I don't know if I'm being serious or not, folks; the more I write about it, the more sense it makes, but it's probably just me.

Richard, that is a beautiful instrument!

Thanks

First, Richard: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

You other Two: Go stand in the corner and take your basses with you! smile Just kidding. I knew it would be a long shot at best asking y'all that, but it's one of those things where you never know. I did a cross-country bicycle ride several years ago and rode through the town where Bonnie & Clyde got shot and passed one of those motels I was talking about.

Thanks!

The reason I ask is because I "collect" pictures of old, abandoned motels and theaters..

My preferences are:

1. The Motels: Although I like them all, I most like the ones which advertise "COLOR TV" which each letter of "color" a different color.

2. The Theaters: Same thing. Like them all, but a plus is a marquee with either the name of the theater or the title of the last movie shown with a letter or two missing.

I know there's probably books with both subjects, but a photo from a Chordian would be more meaningful to me.

Thanks

EDIT: Forgot to add, that this should be pure happenstance. Just if you happen to pass one of either on the road or there's one of either in your town.

And Richard, yeah. I've been on eBay, but I usually post hear first in case I can sell/buy to/from my friends. Just got used to it, I guess. I'll take a look in the bay. Thanks! smile

Maracas, 1 pair filled with dried beans, sand and/or small rocks. You know, the usual stuff one fills maracas with. Just no Mexican Jumping Beans, please. I don't want to have to chase them all over the floor when I need them within reach for a song! smile

G'day Richard

Wow! Sooo much talent! I never realized you have such a long history with music, my friend!  I couldn't find it on Amazon, but sure would like to have my own copy. Can you give me a website on which it may be ordered (just shoot me a mail)? I would like to add it to my "The Chordians' Greatest Hits" if possible..

Thanks in advance!

Also,@ 500£, that would be a bit pricy for me as well, TF. I have a "chorus" pedal which I used on the Taka/Jas and of course my "Big Muff" which I use on the LP Epi, but that's as far as I have gone with anything that is after market electronic.

Since we're on the subject of effects, is anyone using/or seen this little amp? https://www.tonewoodamp.com/?gclid=Cj0K … j1EALw_wcB
