Nice story Ken.
We can't choose our family but we can choose our guitars. Looks like either way you're gonna end up with the best of both! Be sure and let us all know when the big 40 arrives..........

Took my lovely wife out for the ole movie and dinner date night tonight. We, per her choice, saw "Bruno" starring the brilliantly talented Sacha Baron Cohen. Our tummies hurt from laughing so much, it was difficult to chomp down our dinner. This dude( S.B.Cohen) is taking comedy and social commentary places it has never been before in mainstream media. Standing ovation for the movie, artistic innovation at its finest.............

ps; Bono, Sting, Elton John, and Snoop Dogg are some super cool dudes!!!

Jamcenter

Also I did not see any tab or transcriptions of any kind.

Steve

On the left hand side of the opening page click on "Guitar Scale Patterns". 12 modes are available to choose from. In addition to this, the jam machine and style of music the practicing musicians employ have a mode suggestion(s) to best accompany their selection.

Something similar to this;
http://www.jamcenter.com/index.html

Just click on a jam machine and digitally recorded backing tracks are right there. Also, the practicing musician can choose style of music and scale mode to practice. I've been using this fine resource for many years and I link to my guitars students to practice in between our lessons.

Here's another great modern resource for scalin' and wailin';

and then there's good ole justin;
http://www.justinguitar.com/en/TB-000-TheBasics.php

This one is for entry level players, each step ties in the last step and evolves as fast or as slow as the learning guitarist needs.

There's lots of great resources out there in cyber land folks and they're totally free. Some do have the opportunity to make a small donation to help maintain the site(s) but on a volunteer basis only...

Do you plan on putting this to music. It certainly could be a beautiful lyric. Perhaps something in a minor 7th flavor?

Thanks for the laugh.

I play it  in basic 12 bar dirty blues in E. I have lots of fun with this one. It's often almost impossible to get through the entire song without laughing all over my microphone

Hi Southpaw

Probably looking at spending anything up to £350 (about $500).

Cheers

Hi Kevin,

Based upon the kind of music you're into( country, rock-n-roll, and 60's stuff), and the price range you're working with I have a few suggestions;

This one's a little more than what your budget allows but it is one spectacular guitar at a more than fair price. ( in my opinion )
http://www.music123.com/Gretsch-Guitars … 8.Music123
ain't it sweet????.......

This one is a gem of a guitar!!! I've played a few of 'em at various locales in  Massachusetts, Nasheville, Cozumel Mexico, Dublin, and numerous locales in Florida, USA. Each and every one of these fine instruments played just as fine as the first and previous etc....This beauty of a guitar is a consistent, well honed instrument. Plus it looks cool, sleek, and is a serious chick magnet( just teasin',,, or not  haha). And the best thing is the price. This is a garsh dammied steal!!!

Go on and get a towell to wipe the ptyalism( slobber) off of your chin.

I don't know if you're into semi-hollow body guitars but if you are indeed these are 2  mighty fine instuments that are, in my little opinion, well worth the money......

Strings are made for acoustic bass but regular nickle bass strings will do just fine, especially if your acoustic bass has a pick-up.

Outer Banks, Carolina Beach, Nags Head( my personal fav!!!), and Ocean Isle! WOW, priceless memories for me from this fine slice of extasy on our beautiful planet. I still have the Hawaiian Tropic t-shirts from my family summer vacations( Ocean Isle and Carolina Beach). Once I figure out how to post photos, I got some good ones from "back in the day"!!!!!!

Georgeous video Pix! The water never looks that when you're surfing though!At least rolling along the bottom like most of us do (haha)

I'm fortunate to live in the same little beach community in which the Lopez brothers, Corey and Shea( both professional surfers) reside. They have a small little surf shop on gulf blvd. and the local kids absolutely adore them. The Lopez family does a lot of good for the Indian Rocks Beach community.

Hi Jason and a big ole welcome to Chordie! Glad you found us.  Looking foward to sharing musical stories, etc., with you.

Here in the USA wearing of ones' pants/shorts above the bellybutton pretty much advertises "here comes a dork or a very old man". Or, it could be a fat guy trying unsuccessfully to hide his belly. ( this only adds to the man-girth, so stop it, now!) Same meaning is implied if the length of ones' shorts are 4 or more inches above the knees. I'm just curiuos what the "cool perimeters" are regarding wearing a kilt. I suppose i could look it up it on-line but more often than not I get a much more honest and truistic statement directly from the "horses mouth". I ask this question with sincere respect. No joking or teasing at all is intended...

Also, for my USA, or any other earthly inhabitating pals who may wear their pants up to their neck line(s) or 2 inches below the boys, I mean no disrespect to you either. I'm just trying to shed a little perspective on coolness via the world from a non-cool fashion connoisseeur...

any suggestions??
(it cant be too expensive)

Hi FretShredder and welcome to Chordie. My advice to you is this; go to your local music store totally blind to the names painted on the headstock of all guitars. Play all of the guitars within your budgeted amount. Purchase the guitar that sounds and feels the best to you.

This is an easy one. Everyone knows that music is more important than food....

Play music 'till you get hungry, then eat.....
