OK - an obvious one here is Mylie Cyrus. Hannah Montanna.
Sounds like the intonation is out. It needs a set up.
There's nothing wrong with the songs you are playing. If these youngsters know music then they'll know Beatles/Green Day/Nirvana/ and such things. If they don't, then there's something wrong with their music knowledge not yours.
If these guys are regulars then get talking to them. Find out what they're listening to. Maybe change your radio station or watch the music channels more often. I can't claim to be up with what the 15-25 year olds are all listening to, but I do like to have the occassional listen and I'm always on the lookout for new things to listen to.
Also have a look through the Public Books section of Chordie. There are loads of collections that folk have made available to browse. I usually find something interesting in there when I'm stuck.
Cheers
Whwn you say the tuner says it's in tune but it's not, what do you mean? It's too low or high, or is it that the chords don't sound right?
Sounds like it needs professionally set up. I'd take it into your local guitar store and they should be able to sort it out. This may be a total pain in the rear but it WILL be worth it.
Spot on, Russ. I'm sure high schools all over the world have "leaver's parties" or "graduation parties", they just don't call them proms. Although in the UK now we are starting to see more and more "proms" appearing as we become more and more in-tune with American culture. We do get called the 51st state after all. In my day it was some kind of disco/dance at the end of the year although in my leaving year I seem to remember just getting to the end of the exams and then just never going back. Maybe I just never got invited
Anyone know any good harmonica websites. For things like tips and tabs and stuff.
Cheers
I've got one eye on youtube as I type.
Played my brother-in-law's Taylor today. Sweet!
Jeez! My daughter is 12 now and growing up faster than I'd ever imagined. These days will be with me before I know it.
Just wondered why F Bb and C and not C G and D. Is it a vocal range thing? Maybe I'm just lazy
B is a good friend of mine. It's Fm I have issues with.
You're starting to get there when you don't care where you're spouse is going, just so long as you don't have to go along.
So many of us are picking up for the second time. Much better this time around. Loving it. Good to see you here.
Hi kaitie567, welcome to the world of chordie. Best singer in the world, eh? I found it here...

Click on the above link. There are 8 versions of the song here so you can see what one suits you. I don't know the song too well so I don't know if the versions shown are any good but, hey, it's a start. Good luck. I love your enthusiasm. Go on, get on with it.
Well, I got it! It's pretty cool. It is a Lindo and it sounds OK. Here's a wee video of me showing it off...

It holds it's tune quite well. So far anyway, although I think a tuner will be an essential travel accessory.
Thanks for the thoughts, folks. Cheers.
Have you never seen Carry On Up The Kyber?:lol:
I've been working on a campfire acoustic version. Man, that could last a good 2 hours
Here's what wiki has to say on the matter...
How long is Bat Out of Hell, is that longer than 10? I can't remember.
How's about this version of the dreaded B monster...
X21X02
Muted E string. 1st finger 1st fret of D string. 2nd finger 2nd fret of A string. Mute the G string by leaning your 1st finger against it slightly. Open B string. 3rd finger 2nd fret of e string.
I'd still practice X24442 or X2444X though.
Surely bands should be aloud to evolve and try new directions now and then. As for hiding extra band members - that's just nuts!
An all-nighter for me now is getting through the night without having to get up for a pee.
One of my heros, in fact my biggest hero, is Mike Peters from a band called The Alarm. Mike does loads of solo acoustic slots during gigs and I can assure you that in ALL of them there is enough in there to know what song it is but it does NOT sound like the full band version. As long as the melody and the rhythm is right and maybe the odd distinctive riff or progression is right then the rest is just accompanying the vocal. Get the feeling right and it will carry the whole song.
Hi Upyerkilt,
You well could be right, thats it's wrong, but I do know, "and don't ask me to explain how, it's over my head" but I do know from my son who builds websites that you can put a tracker system, on a website, or at least the one's he's built, that shows where every hit on that website came from. I would say however that is just on some he's built and installed that, not sure how you could do it to someone's website, again, you could be right, but all this is way over my level. But you know in this day and age, with technology being what it is,there's not much they can't do.
Cam
Google provide a piece of code that is inserted into your website so that every hit is analysed. It's called Google Analytics. I use it in my church website and can see where all our virtual visitors are coming from, how long they are on-site, how many pages they view, stuff like that. It's really very clever and quite helpful.
**Addded** Makes you realise just how easy it is to monitor someone's personal internet habbits. Quite scary really.
