Hi Helena,
Having had the privilege of seeing the lyrics last week I am pleased to see you have the chords to it now. It plays well and I have to say that I have met a few "ladies" in the past that this song could have been written for. Well done.
Now when are we going to hear your melodious tones getting to grips with this one. There is a place on FoC pre booked for you .
Roger
Hi Mr Moderator,
I bet you had great fun recording that one as is sure was fun to listen to.
Roger
Well hello to the new section and congratulations Russell as the new Moderator for this section.
Roger
Can I suggest you look in at the Music Theory section. Jerome has put 'Stickys' there for major and minor scales and I am sure that he and others will be able to help with any questions you have.

1. Kid's parents should be slapped down a flight of stairs for being an extra special kind of dumb.
2. There is something seriously wrong with a world where lots of talented musician starve on the streets while *anyone* gets paid $80K to play a freaking video game.
3. Kid's parents should be drug back up flight of stairs by their hair, and kicked back down again for good measure.
That is all.
Jerome, a little more eloquently put that I could have managed, but my thoughts exactly.

Hi Daddycool,
It is a good job I was not rocking in a chair to the beat I put to this song - I would have rocked it over! .
Nice song and easy to play, well done and thank you.
Roger
Hi Russ, thank you, Arkady's skill has certainly added to this song, I am pleased that I thought to ask him to help.
Phill, I wholehearted agree about recording songs to know how they are intended to be played, although I too usually play them how I guess they should be before listening to the recording and finding how wrong I am.
Ark, sorry I did completely change the lyrics on you but your instrumental was just right so thank you again.
Roger
Oh Boy Headcase,
This was definitely not the holiday you planned and I am sorry to learn of your misfortune. I wish you well and hope that the specialist is able to give you some good news when you see him.
Take care,
Roger
Hello Ahmad and welcome to Chordie,
If you are looking fo me to say you play UUDDUU I am afraid I cannot help you. I see many members asking for rhythm and strum patterns and in 50 years of playing the guitar I have never learnt to play a song that way in my life. In fact when the duration of each 'up' or 'down' can be from a semi-quaver (or smaller) to a semibreve (or longer) to my mind giving 'ups' and 'downs' makes little sense anyway. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Note_value
The only way that I know is to listen to a song until I know it well enough hear it in my mind. Find the chords and then strum what I think goes with the song which may be similar to the original interpretation of it or completely different. I suppose what I am saying is feel the song, feel the rhythm and strum what comes naturally from that.
Sorry if it is not the help you wanted but it is the best I can do.
Roger
James, Helena, Kenny and Daddycool thank you.
I can now reveal why I put the song up without a recording. My backing was with Arkady and he has added the instrumental to this song. Many thanks to you Ark.
So it is now on MySpace.

There once was a guy called Guppy,
Who went out to buy a puppy,
He was blind as a bat,
And instead bought a cat,
And gave it the name of Yuppie.
My goodness, Guppy is an awful name to find rhymes for.
I was trying to comlete this song and struggling with the lyrics. Then Helena told of the tragedy that befell little Hayley Burke and these lyrics fell into place with my music.
Unusually I have not yet recorded it but I will do shortly.

jerome.oneil wrote:Just a bit of trivia on the all the birthdays.
The song "Happy Birthday" is owned by the Warner Chapple company, and public performances of it are a violation of copyright unless royalties are payed. It's why you never hear it sung on TV.
Pretty dumb, eh?
I bet the Chinese will not getting a solicitors letter from Warner Chapple even though I have heard it played several times at the Olympic Games. Or maybe they have paid the royalities.
Roger
Hi Helena,
I made some minor adjustments to the formatting for you.
I am so pleased that my little gift inspired this song. Funnily enough I had seen this rather small quaint building several times before I noticed that the door was ajar one day and, being inqusitive, I looked in. I was amazed when I realised it was a very ancient chapel and ornately decorated inside.
A lovely song that has captured the ambience of this historic chapel.
Thank you,
Roger
Hi Charles,
No infraction on your part, a couple of lines for help are permitted, and I am sorry if you saw my message as censure in any way. I was just concerned that someone wanting to help might post the full lyrics here. My reminder was to try and prevent that from happening.
Roger
Hi Music guy,
If you look at a version of this song and click on the green 'original song' in the Important Information it will take you to the host site for the song.
Roger
Hi Joy123,
Although I cannot help directly, if you follow the link from his YouTube page to: http://www.tcartermusic.com you will find you can purchase the music for this song and two other original wedding songs of his, "The Ring" and "Here We Stand" for $15.99.
Roger
Hi Charles,
Sorry I cannot help with this one.
This is just a reminder that copyright lyrics cannot be posted on Chordie (see the 'Sticky'at the start of this section).
However what is send by private e-mail cannot compromise Chordie.
Roger
Hi Stretch,
I too have had a listen and liked your song.
I am disappointed that you were not able to post it but the instrucions are in the 'Sticky' at the start of this section, or if you wish to, send it to me I will give it the once over for you and return it ready to post. If you do you will have to do it direct to: roger4songs@yahoo.co.uk as you cannot send attachments through Chordie.
Thank you,
Roger
Good one Russ,
Great recording and as others have said the mandolin certainly adds to the overall effect. Is this another 'park bench' song or did inspiration come from elswhere? Whatever, it is a great song, thank you.
Roger
Hi James,
A good fun song to play and I look forward to hearing it on MySpace.
Roger
Thanks for that Riddler,
I have just checked and my sample rate was 44100Hz. I have also added the Wiki page to my favourites, I might need it again - but I hope not.
Roger
Twice whilst I have been recording multiple tracks with Audacity I found that on playback the tracks all started at the same point and sounded fine but as they progressed they went out of time and seemed to lose syncronisation.
On both occasions I tried to correct it and even re-recording was as bad so nothing I could do would improve it. In the end I closed my PC down, had a beer, switched it back on and started again. The second attempt in both cases turned out fine.
Has anyone else had a similar problem and have you a solution please?
Roger
