A big wet sloppy Mom kiss on your cheek to welcome you to the Chordie Forum my son!
I don't know if we sounded "great" but we sure did have a fun time! Once the weather warms up we'll have to keep the guitars on the porch and avoid the beach as there will be far too many yahoos around kicking up sand. It is still too cool outside to go into the lake so there weren't very many people around, but the girls had been begging to play in the sand. The people near us were listening at first, and then sure enough Stephie stole the show with her backbends, perfect splits and round offs. She is an amazing acrobat for only 5 years old!
Save your money for a new acoustic, and in the mean time I think we can swing some new strings Ahhh... now it's time to cook some dinner and someone just reminded me, I think I'll also belt out a few Italian Arias!
I do have to admit that I am working at becoming a mutant. I don't use the barre chords when I play, but I have been practicing them. I literally push my fingers into position with my right hand and can get a good clean sound. They'll stay in place once there, but they do not want to move like that on their own yet. I hope someday they will because there are a LOT of songs that I like which call for the F and Bm! I will admit that I've been doing this occasionally for a while, and I could NOT get a good sound before... so it is working at least a little. Keep practicing Tommydone!
Welcome to the Chordie forum Natsumi! Can't offer much more advise than you've already gotten. Practice just changing between two chords back and forth. Practice a strumming pattern without changing chords. Get good at each individually then put them together. Hang in there! Practice makes perfect and eventually you'll get to where your going
Ha ha ha! Tommydone... while I agree, a good work around helps! Try this:
That's the "F" I use when a song calls for one. It's close enough for me, for now anyhow. Someday I'll visit the mutant research facility and get zapped with some of that special serum to allow me to play a real F and get a B7 fretted quickly!
Thank you guys! I never realized how cruddy my speakers on my computer were until I got this thing. Listening to the recording by plugging the included earbuds in sounds WAY better than my computer speakers. The earbuds that were included sound WAY better than the earbuds I have for my cell phone. So, they are good quality! Just a suggestion to anyone who hasn't tried that yet (all recordings sound better, not just mine ha ha).
Pete here's the link to their website with some photos and info: http://www.samsontech.com/products/prod … rodid=1916
It's similar to a "regular recorder" in the aspect that "all" it does is record sound. There's no video included with this device. Wayne has the Zoom Q3 which has a similar recording quality but also takes video. It uses an SD card, so it's a digital recording. Then you can just take the SD card out and put it into your computer to transfer files or you can plug the device into the computer and record directly into recording software like audacity (FYI Audacity is a free software download); it's like it's own little microphone interface in that respect. You can actually do the normalizing right on the device and even record the file as an MP3 rather than a wav file (and I believe you can convert a wav file to MP3 on the device before putting on your computer), so you don't "need" audacity. You do need audacity to do multiple tracks however. The H2 does not support multiple tracks, but I believe the H4 does. All I did with this recording is normalize and add the echo at the last verse. The echo is the only thing I actually needed audacity for. So yes, the sound quality by itself is great!
StranSongs - Honestly, I'm not sure. I believe it's origin is Scottish, however I've seen a ton of people doing this song and claiming it as an Irish folk song... so just to be safe and not offend anyone (as an American) I put Scottish/Irish in there. I honestly never even knew it's origins until I decided to see if there was a way to play this on my guitar. I learned the "Americanized Version" years ago while taking voice lessons and doing singing competitions; I sang along to piano (my voice was better then too ha ha). The Americanized version changes the words from "Clyde" to "Troublesome" which I believe is a creek in Kentucky USA. Here's a link to a discussion we had about this as I was trying to work out the chords I wanted to use: http://www.chordie.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=14571 YES Cara Dillon has a beautiful voice!
Welcome to the forums Jimmy! Doing a google search for "without gravity chords tabs" does yield some results. I'm not familiar with the band or the songs however, so I'm not sure what song exactly you're looking for. If you find any that seem accurate feel free to submit the song link on the resources page so that it can be added to the index later on for other members to find also. Happy playing!
Thank you again everyone for your help! I got this song recorded with my H2 and just uploaded on YouTube.
Ok... so I finally got a recording done with my H2 and uploaded to "the tube" if anyone is interested! Go ahead and click my "website" link under my username.
Nice collaboration guys! I love the smooth sounds from Ark and the guitar and voice from Phil. Your two styles meld really well in this song.
Hey Badeye! I think that's the first time I've seen ya in action. Looks mighty tricky and fun
Welcome to the Chordie Forum Snazcatraz!
I am working on a Scottish Folk Song at the moment "Black is the Color" (or Colour).
If you go into "public songbooks" and do a search on "love songs" you'll come up with a bunch of songs that might suit your taste too!
Also welcome BobaJimBob! I always use Fmaj7 in place of F... I haven't quite figured out that F or Bm, YET!
Bass Viking - I shall never let anything come between me and a good buttermilk biscuit!
Pete, Geo, and Tony ... Thank you very much! Roger has started me out very gently helping with the song requests and chat sections. It's far from filling SouthPaw's shoes! I highly respect him and the whole gosh darn Chordie family here!
Old Doll... that Mojo Sauce looks like something I'd best stay away from trying to make. I'm positive that I'm clumsy enough in the kitchen to promise a grease fire pouring liquids into the hot oil! I'll bet it's delish however!
I've never used "Italian 00 flour" ... light hmmm? I'm using "bread flour" (high gluten content) for my yeast doughs now and it's ability to make airy breads and especially delicious pizza dough is amazing. I wonder if it's anything like "cake flour" which is very finely ground for the lightest fluffiest airy cakes? I do think that sounds as though it would make for a very thin crunchy pizza crust. Speaking of "pizza", we made calzones this week. To say my eyes were bigger than my belly is an understatement. It was fun; we all stuffed our own with ingredients of our choosing. The family all together in the kitchen was a fun and very messy time! Last night was a "Cheeseburger Casserole"... sort of a homemade mac n cheese but with egg noodles and burger added. I ate too much again.
I think I've gained 5 pounds since the start of this thread! I might need to slow down a little with the baking! Ha! By the way, I did add more flour in the chicken wing soup recipe to thicken it more, I also added more hot sauce and a bit more parsley and basil. Otherwise I think the recipe is pretty good as is. Of course, all of those additions will be easy for any decent cook to figure out! I hope everyone enjoys as much as we did (it disappeared too fast, I will have to double it up next time for sure)!
ThingyWhatsIt ... I've moved your post into the Song Requests section from the Chat section. You may get more responses here, even if no one else can find anything for you however, perhaps others looking will be able to find DerekEynon's answer useful!
DerekEynon ... WELCOME TO CHORDIE!
Hee hee... I absolutely didn't think I'd be moderating a GUITAR forum this time last year!
I don't really watch much in the line of sports (typical woman?)... but my husband refuses to watch pro football after having run into a well known (and at the time respected) quarterback snorting cocaine in a local bar restroom... only to go on to the super bowl that same year. On top of everything they do, it seems they don't even get caught for half of it. Although, that doesn't stop him from buying a few squares on the local boards. Funny, we still don't watch it... we just wait for the call to come in to come pick up the money if he has any coming. Oh well... I guess in a way THAT is the problem but on a bigger level. Folks all over are making money off them so they keep on throwing money at them.
Welcome to the forum ivexu! I'm sorry no one has responded yet to your request. I did some searching online and couldn't find anything for this. If you come back, let us know if you're still looking for this song or if you found it... it's possible one of the other more seasoned players could try to work this out for you. Thanks for being patient!
Welcome to the forum PABS! If you do a search on google you'll find lots of chords and even youtube how-to's available for this song. This might help, but I'm not familiar with this song, so I'm not sure how accurate it is: http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/a/a … r4_crd.htm
Chordie is like a search engine that indexes these and then puts them all in one place to make it easier to find. As of yet that artist doesn't look like he's been added to the index. If you find a version that works well, please help us out by coming back here and entering in the website address of the song here: http://www.chordie.com/addurl.php
Happy Playing! And feel free to visit the other sections of the site... there's lots of good people around to help out!
Thank you very much guys! It's an honor to be able to help out on Chordie... as SouthPaw says... "the finest, most awesomest site on the garsh-dang internet!!!"
Ha ha... well so sad to have lost the comments... so I will say it again, very good job guys (or I said something to that effect).
Hi there! I don't think I've welcomed you to the forum as of yet... so WELCOME! If you go to YouTube and search on "picking techniques guitar" you will find MOUNTAINS of videos! Just remember to try the pattern over and over and over slowly until you get it down then speed up slowly... once you can do the pattern well at the speed you like, then try adding the chord changes in. You want your right hand to kind of be on "auto pilot". That seems to work well for me anyhow! Good Luck!
Very cool how you did this Wayne! Left you a comment (and a message) on "the tube"
Good to hear you've found a way to continue that works for you Doc. When one truly loves music, no ailment can stop them from enjoying it. Even the deaf are capable of enjoying a beat. Play on!
Wow! Well... congrats on your new guitarS day! That is indeed a strange transaction... but hey... perfect for a guitar guy! Have fun with all your new toys!
Toney you will be missed around here! I think I can speak for everyone here on Chordie when I say that we all hope you do stop in from time to time... between gigs and diapers! May Health, Love, and Happiness follow you and yours... wherever you may roam!
Amy
PS... I will take your advise and example and work hard to get together with my Dad far more often than an occasional open mic for some seasoned instruction!
