Yay another droid user and Roger got you all set up so you can get on Chordie with the phone too!  Check out Robotic Guitarist Free ... it's a tuner, chord finder, and virtual guitar all in one (and it's free).  I just gave away my guitar tuner as I always have my phone on me (and my H2 recorder also has a tuner).  I have no need to carry around another item!  There's lots of free tuner apps if you just want a tuner.  I actually have checked this one against the three other tuners in the house and it's accurate!  Have fun!

Pete, I got my first tattoo a couple years ago, a lily in memory of our daughter that we lost.  I added another blossom to it the year after.  It took me forever to figure out what I wanted, although I always knew where I wanted it.  I've been considering what my next one would be for the past two years.  When this came up and I just said, "just do a small guitar or a heart with the kids initials", he didn't want to do it because I am so picky and don't do spur of the moment things too often.  Sometimes those are the ones that work out best though!

Russell, I've noticed your tattoo but couldn't make it out in your videos sad

Pix and Selso...  no worries, you've got time!  wink  Pix, I like the idea you have.  My hubby draws up all the tattoos he does.  He doesn't have racks of flash or anything like that in his shop.  He just has a few books for people to refer to, and then he redraws anything anyone picks out or brings in.  He once had three ladies come in each wanting a little bumble bee and he made each of them just a touch different.  He believes that everyone should have their "own" tattoo and never have anyone say "Hey, I have that SAME thing!"

Anyhow... here's the picture of it freshly done.  The headstock is a heart, and the soundhole is supposed to represent a smile.  Other than the heart and the outline, the rest of this is all shaded and will lighten up after it heals some (the neck is not going to be so dark).  He actually made up the stencil for this at his shop and then forgot it and had to free hand it on my back with ballpoint pen before beginning the tattoo at the home show.  The stencil had a better shape to it, but hey... we can smile about the day I got a totally spur of the moment tattoo by the hubster as a demonstration for the rest of our lives.  big_smile

When it heals I'll get a closer up shot of it and share.  BTW... for those considering a tattoo, this location on the back is a GOOD CHOICE as far as pain goes.  My other one is "near my heart on a fatty area", the pain factor between these two areas does NOT compare! roll

I somehow have managed to not see the movie yet.  I imagine my soon to be 3 year old will get it from some well meaning grandparent for her birthday in a few weeks.  I'm scared after hearing the "reviews" here!

My husband is a tattoo artist (as his second job) and was invited to do a demonstration at a "Home show" yesterday. He hadn't planned well for this, he was thinking of just talking about the history of tattoos and what to look out for.  About 2 hours before leaving I suggested he just use me as a "model" and do an actual demo as it didn't seem talking to people for an hour was going to go very well.  Long story short, I got a spur of the moment tattoo on my shoulder. This is very unlike me!  I drew it up quick, he adjusted it, and about 40 minutes later I had a nice little abstract guitar on my right shoulder (back).

All went well, and we had a fun time educating people and explaining that he was only doing a demonstration, not "working" at the show. Lol!

Pics to come ...  anyone else have the love of music/guitar permanently engraved in their skin?

Congrats on your 300th song Daddycool!  That's quite something!  Hmmm... three years... that's 100 songs per year.  Wow.  I've been watching the membership number myself and waiting to see how long it takes to get to that 300K smile

Welcome to the Chordie forum bj5strings - I haven't had any luck finding any chords for either of these online.  Are you still looking?  Any luck?

Anakin... Welcome to the Chordie Forum.  I did some searching and couldn't find any chords online for this song.  There are some of the band's other songs.  Have you had any luck yet finding it or are you still looking?  Perhaps one of the "seasoned pros" around here will work it out for you if you are still looking.  A lot of times people come here - post - and never come back.  So let us know you're still around and maybe they'll pop in and see what kind of magic they can work for you!  smile

Cruisey welcome to the Chordie Forums!

At first I was thinking "well it probably just repeats what is already written" ... but then I checked it out, nope!
So I did a search (sometimes I think I'm the queen of searching online)... and I found it.  Just a quick "warning" when you click on the song link it will give you a pdf file.  That's good, because it's easy to print out, not so good cuz you can't just easily copy and paste (and if you have dial up - GASP - it could take a bit for the file to load).

Anyhow, you can find what looks like the entire chords to the song here:  http://spikesmusic-folkrock.spike-jamie … croft.html  Then just click on the song title link to open up the pdf file ... I looked at it and it looks like it's the whole song "[G]hear the band..." and on and on...

Have fun!

Ha Ha Ha! big_smile  SouthPaw!

Good to hear it's all safe Butch, and that I could help.

Mr Jay... neat link on backing tracks.  I only glanced at it a little, but I know people are looking for those often.

You can dip it in hot water to soften it up a little then bend it just a touch to fit your thumb better.  Just don't dip it in the hot water with your thumb still in the pick! big_smile

When I saw the words to this something CLICKED!  I know this song... I just dropped everything I was doing and dug it out.  I have a copy of a choir version of this song (SATB).  It's probably in your Church's hymnal!  Of course, it's not guitar but it does have all the vocal notes etc and is written in 6/8 time.  Flats on A, b, d, and e (on the treble clef - I never could read the bass clef).   Send me an email if you are interested in more info Zurf!  smile

It is a fiddly job but well worth the effort learning how to put them on.

Roger

I do this with my classical Roger, but his steel string acoustic has a wavy bridge so I'm not so sure the standard stringing will work on his.  I think we're going to have to knot the ends... I warned him that he won't be able to play it right away so he's holding off on the restringing with the nylons.

I must say, if any of you saw what bad shape his guitar is in you'd all have me hung for even having something like this in my house.  LOL!  He really needs a new acoustic... BUT... having just purchased him a new electric for Christmas he's going to have to save up on his own (or wait till I get a new one and borrow mine more often than he already does!).

PapaTom, Toots, and Pix - he enjoyed all your stories.  He's been back on here a few times smiling and pointing at the computer having me come over to read (son- you need to remember to log out!  LOL).  He'll post again I'm sure!

Pix - Very nice pic of you at the beach!  Hey, I think that's the first time I've seen your face (your tutorials always show from the neck down!).  I'd like to know where this secret beach is located.  We have been seriously talking about moving to NC for a while now.  I am hoping, praying, and crossing my fingers for a trip South to check out some possible locations soon (although it seems kids can't get their drivers permit till 18?  My Son isn't digging that too much).

We attempted another trip to the beach with our guitars yesterday, but the wind was making it wayyyy to chilly!  We'll be back there soon!

Butch, if you're looking for something simple to use online while practicing there's a couple options at this website:  http://www.drumbot.com/

I haven't played around with too many of them, but it looks like a few of these should foot the bill for just practice!  The tuner, metronome and tap are available as downloads.  I don't personally know if they are safe downloads or not as I haven't downloaded them yet (tho they look safe)... so at your own risk.  Anyhow, have fun!

Sure thing Tony, these are Dunlop Herco thumb picks.  They come in different colors/thicknesses.  These yellow ones I have are "light".  I see some yellow ones online that are medium.  So... watch what you order as apparently color does NOT indicate thickness.  I will tell you that the part that goes around the thumb is a very light hold compared to other thumb picks, so I'd be concerned about a heavier one staying on the thumb well during upstrokes (although, if you're going to hold onto it like a normal pick while it's attached to your thumb you should be alright).

I have no clue if this site is any good or not, but I happened across stringsdirect.com and it looks like you can buy them one at a time in the UK from them.  Most of the sites that popped up in a search were a box of 4 to 24.

I LOVE those Dorito picks!  My hubby laughed at me when he saw I had bought more of them!  He hasn't heard my string muting yet however, when he does and sees I'm holding that big ole Dorito to get the job done he won't be laughing any more!  smile

I saw the "News Flash" ... sadly I won't be getting out of dish duty until my two girls are old enough to wash dishes.  Being the only female in the house tall enough to reach the sink without a chair I guess makes me "chief bottle washer and cook"!

Tony, I just found these picks at my local guitar shop.  The yellow ones are rather thin, and are like a full size pick with thumb attachment!  There's also holes punched in them.  I doubt anyone would drop one of these bad boys!  smile  The blue one is a thinner thumb pick than I usually use.  I also grabbed a couple more "dorito" picks too and told the hubster he could have his back if he wanted it.  I don't want to be a "bad girl" LOL!

WELCOME to the Chordie Forum!  Sorry for the very late welcome.  That's a good question.  I'll bet there's a way... but I don't know what it is.  When I get some time I'll see if I can figure it out.  I love a good challenge!  smile  I imagine it's probably in the original formatting of the chopro when the song is first posted.

You probably already found this one then:  http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/t/t … nd_crd.htm

Somewhere on Youtube I found a comment saying "wake me" is possibly:

Chorus:
Em D A
Em D A
G A Bm
G A Bm

That Yahweh is BEAUTIFUL!  Maybe someone can listen and help Snazcatraz out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9VXCCWW … p;index=34

Have you found any acoustic recordings of this song?  It might help those looking to help?

I bought him some new nylon strings to try out.  Of course I screwed up.  I assumed his guitar had pegs and just bought the straight strings, but apparently I should have bought the ball end strings.  Think it'll work alright if we just knot the ends or should we head back to the store and pick up ball ends?  I'm anxious to hear how these sound as I haven't tried the brand before.  They're gold wound with gold trebles.

I've done this before with my daughter's guitar... but then... she doesn't play anything that remotely sounds like music anyhow.

Toots... the 5 year old is always trying to plan out songs for our "band" to preform.
